  1. I loved the original USFL. Was it on par with the NFL? No, but it did feature the fun of "Bandit Ball" and Steve Spurrier down in Tampa Bay, a pretty solid Philadelphia Stars team, and Bobby Hebert (among others like Sam Mills, Ray Bentley, Kent Hull, etc.) the chance to learn and grow into a pretty good NFL QB - an opportunity that I doubt he'd have had without the upstart league. I think a feeder concept, like NFL Europe was, would benefit the NFL. How many players get drafted into a system that doesn't really fit their talents? How many get drafted only to find that GM/Coach fired soon after and a new regime installed that wants to clean house? How many simply need coaching and playing time to become viable players with a chance to make an NFL? How many would love the chance to get paid to play football while trying to chase their dream? America has an insatiable appetite for football. If put together well, with innovations tried out in this league and quality teaching and coaching employed with a tie to the NFL, I think it can work. I'll be watching ... hope they bring the Oakland Invaders back. Sweet uniforms!
  2. I filed mine right away ... I think the problem was the stimulus checks pushing everything back, but they should be done with issuing those by now
  3. That bus was iconic, wasn't it? When I saw Ruben with that sweet stache. I just had to use it. That and "I Think I love You" changed my life.
  4. I don't see a DT ... a DE or a CB, yes, but not a DT. They need to get after the QB and they need extra DBs for 4-receiver sets. An article yesterday claimed the Bills are looking at PSU's Oweh. Is anyone thinking > second coming of Aaron Maybin? Workout freak with not much production at PSU. That's a hard pass from me. Give me an edge rusher or speed receiver (Elijah Moore/Rondale Moore) at 30 and then a DB in the second round and I am all good.
  5. Pick #3 for the 49er's will be a QB. Unless your Doug Whaley, you don't mortgage the future for a TE or WR. Shanahan seems to be a system guy and favors a certain type of QB. He is looking for a field general who has the capacity to know his system inside and out. QB movement doesn't appear to be a requirement. Kirk Cousins certainly isn't "the second coming of Michael Vick." I think Mac Jones is headed to SF.
  6. I have never been a fan of the striped look, but if you are going to develop new uniforms at least try to make them markedly different and better than the previous version. The helmets are the same and the uniforms look bland to me, especially the white ones. "Clean" is the food at Panera, not a look for a football uniform. At least Mike Brown is consistent. He consistently disappoints.
  7. With the massive amount of interest in football, the abundance of college players (both in the US and Canada) that have that dream of the NFL or simply want to get paid for playing the game they love, and the NFL "beating the bushes" to unearth hidden talent, I think a spring CFL/XFL league makes total sense. Some of these players, especially small-school talent, need coaching and game reps to see what type of player they can become. There are still Fred Jacksons out there to be discovered. And what of the players that are drafted by teams that run the wrong system that they might thrive in or players that get drafted by one regime only to see them fired with the incoming GM/Coach having no allegiance or interest in them? Think of Jerry Hughes languishing in Indy before the trade to Buffalo. I loved the USFL as a teenager. I remember some NFL vets that became "fringe" players at the end of their career, prolonged their playing days in the USFL. I'd love to see that occur in a CFL/XFL merger. Maybe I am in the minority, but I love football and would watch year round if given the chance.
  8. Its as if Buffaslug and the angry goat head had children - a hard no
  9. Thank you, Mr. Azar, for making my childhood sports memories come alive. I can still see you three on the set - no trio ever better.
  10. Settle down, Francis. He looks to have a high motor and is used to be a rotational guy. Price is low. I don't care where the guy comes from as long as he can play.
  11. Very underrated with what he provides. Important signing. Way to go, Beane!
  12. If they are going to really change the dynamic of this team, they need a player that creates mismatches at RB or TE. I just don't see Lindsey doing that. Kind of like when Thurman was drafted and it impacted everything. I would love to see Travis Etienne or Kenneth Gainwell in the draft. Guys with receiving ability and the chance to take it to the house, would put our offense on KC's level. Imagine Etienne in the backfield and going in motion with Ertz at TE and Diggs, Sanders and Beasley at WR. IMO, I think that type of player is a game changer.
  13. He looks like a nice day 3 draft find. I'd be happy if they took him
