  1. Is Brown the solution or part of the problem - has size/wingspan and very high RAS score (like Doyle) but not an impressive positional development background - relatively new to the position, played small-school ball, and worst of all, may have slow feet and lacks a feel for the position or game.  Last season moved to left tackle when Dawkins was out (COVID) and was freaking terrible, a lot worse than at RT.

So he really is a project who was thrown into the position earlier than expected and has not earned it ? McBeane is giving benefit of doubt based on the above and the back injury which indicates that really have no choice at the moment and hope that Kromer can teach him better technique and adjustments as speed rusher on his edge are a problem...

  2. 6-1 - 220 - same size as Milano - position switch to the outside ?  but does he have the footspeed - Milano switched positions from college safety to OLB as well

This season - special teams replacement for Matakevich who made 3.2M as special teamer for sure but backup MLB to Edmunds....Dodson ?  6 feet - 237 lbs

He's got similar size to Poyer. Is considered a ballhawk and touted for his physicality.

Would make a lot of sense.

comes down to Hamlin, Marlowe or Benford and I will take Benford with a training camp at the position and year in the secondary under his belt, plus saves money under the salary cap...no drafted rookie is going to start for the Bills if they can help it.

    Not a surprise.

Kromer is one of the best o line coaches out there.  Get the guy some players.

starting with Spencer Brown...size, outstanding-extremely high RAS score (same with Doyle), a small school project taken early due those above average metrics, then factor in the back injury-surgery....as Beane mentioned in the post-season presser...there is some upside expect but Beano my good man..after two years he seems to have the Cody Ford slow feet syndrome as he cannot effectivley block the speed rushers from that right side, and last year when they moved him to left tackle to sub for Dawkins (due to COVID) he as even worse.

Onward to year three...is hoping for technique improvments past the point of no return ? esp since its been two years with one under Kromer with no improvement or even regression...necessitates another tackle pick this draft, with early to mid-round more of a focus, and if its for gods sake draft someone with quick feet.

  5. oh if I were the GM - the future is now

thanks Leslie, but were are going in a different direction

long-term for Edmunds - age 24 - yeah I am going 6 years to make it work - tell me your alternative instead of flaming me pls...cuz that is what he is going to get on the market and he knows it...I can tag him to keep from the market then work the long-term and remove the tag down the road when the market no longer favors the mega deals unless someone wants him that bad and maybe trade him...

Draft a WR first round, when he's ready for some prime second receiver playing time around next season trade deadline I move Gabe Davis for a third-rounder

Round 2 guard, round 3 safety or Benford shifts to safety

I may trade next years number one and something else, round 3 maybe for end of round one this year and a 7th giving me two picks in top 30 for WR and OL plus I have that second round pick this year for another OL or LB or S.

Restructure Josh for the cap space,  salary cuts for Morse 3M, Isaiah 1M, Hynes 1.5M

Brown, Phiilips, Shaq, Beasley, Crowder - backups so they get vet mins or walk - and Brown just did

    Shakir becomes slot starter

    not much flexibility mind you...

And some deal with them better than others.

Beane's doing okay - we're getting to the playoffs.  I'm wondering how he can do better and build a SB quality roster.  We don't have one right now.

true...there has been effort to build-out both lines with quality as we have burned a lot of draft and FA capital...but more misses than hits:

OL misses - 2nd round - Ford....3rd Brown - not a bust but clearly inconsistent, esp for a guy a very high RAS score, lacks footspeed to counter speed rush

5th round Teller - a true talent they passed on...annual veteran guard FA addition have produced below average...late round picks-projects maybe depth at

best...coach Kromer ?  year one not much improvement so that speaks to talent and or play-calling or being out-coached - not going anywhere as 3

coaches in 3 years is not McD style

DL - hits - D Jones, Rosseau and Oliver and Von (overpay but worth it) - misses - AJE, Boogie, Addison - call them average at best ? Star was a big FA miss overall depite some flahses as well as Butler and Q Jefferson...Settle is nothing more than a backup-depth (FA overpay)

So I see the facts you’re trying to put out there.  But doesn’t it just feel like we lost a lot more than 5 games?  I know you have data, but what about the eye test?  When I’m drunk in the 3rd quarter, I see a team that loses to all the good teams and can’t do anything.  If only we had a better coach, drafting, QB, LT, C, #4DB, dome, line backer, DT, weather, beer, cheerleaders, radio play by play guy; then maybe I could feel better about this team.  But right now, it just feels like we should have lost the last 12 games.  Maybe one day, this team can finally live up to the same standards of excellence I exhibit daily in my personal and professional life.   Until then, I can’t enjoy life.

yeah I get it...its entertainment after all...but I think the measure of a great team in todays NFL is finding ways to win when you dont have your best qb game, or not playing well or playing down to level off opponent week-after-week...the days of going undefeated are gone and rarer than ever as well as Bills fan want to and expect to win 72-0 cuz Josh can and does make incredible plays and Beane for the most part drafts well, except for early-mid round OL, which we seem to need the most.

Football is clear;y the national pastime, the off-season fix is daily free agency predictions, hopes and news, good or bad then the endless mock drafts until the biggest non-event of the NFL calendar, the draft itself...

  8. relax we won...enjoy...the closeness..the drama...the victory..its hard to beat a division rival when you play them 3 times

we are 24-5 record over past 30 games - Cincy MNF included as no game

Those 5 losses by a total of 20 points, include 3 OT losses to Mahomes and Brady on the road and to the flukey Vikes at home this season, other losses to Mia and Jets on road

31 points to a 3rd stringer...yes...but besides the picks, we gave them the short field - their 40 (kickoff penalty) our 48, 27 and 15 yard lines..TO START drives...not to mention the sack-fumble-score..Only 1 drive longer than 40 yards...we are not used to the D winning games but they gave FGs not TDs which really was the diff for the W

Then the  Rex Ryan defense, stack the line to no space the runs and blitz leaving sticky man-man 1:1 coverage which is high risk or high reward and a safety spy on Josh instead of a usual linebacker.

Certainly not Josh best game, but still a good game with inches on the Knox (TD) and Shakir (bomb) just missing which would have been another 7 or 10 points at least.

we won despite Josh not having to be superman

We are facing better coaching, QBs and defense, and the pass rush misses a hall-of-famer and the secondary the vet presence in Hyde (not to mention the range of Damar verus Marlowe).

Its gonna be another close one, its a different game, different team..rather be at home than Cincy or KC, and we are 5 point favorites opening against the Bengals...

    Enjoy...

I do agree with you to an extent.

I think some of the Mahomes hate is because he's in so many commercials.  Mahomes overload.  His idiot, punk brother certainly didn't help him, either.

I also think the Chiefs are a pretty scummy organization and that hurts them.

The Bills aren't scummy.  Josh isn't in everyone's face at every commercial break during football season.  And they've never won a Super Bowl.

But yeah ... there will be some haters if the Bills win it this year, for sure.

Mahomes...commericals...by far and away those State Farm insurance commercials featuring him (rodgers before and now Andy Reid) are so lame, stupid, boring

have same theme that has been repeated for years are the worst part of watching NFL national games.

Example Snuck into the playboy mansion, Heffners bedroom, put on a robe, had a pic taken, then went downstairs to eat for free and hobnob...not satisfied with just getting in...had to eat, drink and be merry.

Snuck into over 30 super bowls, several olymopics, Oscars, Kentucky Derby, World Series, Americas Cup, t

I think this team has figure out how to win, even if it's ugly. The offense has been sporadic at times, but compared to years past it has been more consistent overall. I think people get frustrated we don't have the big plays like we have seen. It honestly feels more like the Brady lead Pats teams. Very steady and tricky in that you feel like they aren't doing much but they are putting up substantial yards and consistent points.

Defense is very similar too. Feels like teams move on them at will but the number say otherwise. Not playing a high powered Bengals offense helped them with the final stats though.

I hope they get to the next gear for the playoffs if, for nothing else, my heart health.

I think this team has figure out how to win, even if it's ugly.

Dude...13-3...are you expecting them to go 17-0 and win 72-0 every effing week ?

The NFL is uber-ultral competetive...loosers change GMs and coaches the day after the season ends, after every season if need be and take from the winners...add the salary cap, scheduling, draft order all of which create parity and the result is a very entertaining product.

The Bills are not worse, the competition is better, esp the AFC East with one of the best coaches ever. and two teams on the rise thanks to finally getting rid of dysfunctional front offices and getting around to finally making good trades and drafts.

Example...Josh is among the best in the league when throwing against man-to-man but is one of the worst against zones, what do coaches do in the red zone now..zone with a linebacker spying Josh against his runs...which are usually on rolls to the right.

The Bills weakness is their strength...experience...age, wear-and-tear on vets and the injuries...Hyde..Poyer...Miller...Hamlin...all on the D...75% of the secondary has been hurt...and that is about 33% of the overall D with the leading sacker out as well

    and

the overall quality of the roster leads to others picking at our cuts and practice squad year after year.

    and

still they go 13-3...thru the storms...the home game in Detroit..the Hamlin scare...the injuries...those crushing close losses...enjoy it while it lasts

Can you explain why you think he outcoached our staff in the first meeting?

i wont go as far as saying we were outcoached but they are well coached as are the jets (and phins and jets front offices made solid offseason moves  1) Tyreek Hill 2) Jets had a really good 2022 draft...of course there are the misses...Zach Wilson and Brad Chubb overpay as far as picks and pay).

First Phish game - 3rd and short and dialed-up a centerfield bomb which was a gutsy, surprise call that worked and led to a subsequent TD - and umh,,,we lost...so what can we say...heat, we came close, etc, etc

second phish game - sticking with the run game Mostert ran wild...seconf-half caught Poyer on a blitz which left Tre 1:1 with Hill and Hill burned him for a TD.  Jets as well stuck with the run game and beat us in first matchup...there is a lot more speed for us to contend with than before and being an experienced but older team, speed isnt exactly our forte on both sides

Phins and Jets overall staffs are much improved and are closing the gap for sure...but we got the best qb

That's awesome and I bet there were a bunch of people who wished that they were able to take a train to get to NYC from where they were with the southwest cluster going on!

Wait, was your first show Merriweather this summer? Did you get an If I Could in each of your first two shows you lucky jerk?!?!

Pretty much the only song I'm chasing (not sure why other than it's amazing) and I missed it by one night this summer (was at Raleigh the night before MPP). I've seen them I think 32 times and that was the closest I came other than when they played it in Worcester for the summer 2012 tour opener, but i had moved from Boston to Ft Lauderdale that January so wasnt there.

I saw them 8 times each in 2009 and 2010 while living in boston, then only once in 2011 cause I got married that summer, and then moved to Ft Lauderdale in Jan 2012 and basically stopped seeing them for a while (dont be too sad, a lot of good live music in south Florida, especially in the winter/early spring, and there is a huge dead scene down there and a couple incredible dead tributes, but big shows don't typically make it down there too often).

Live in Raleigh now though and there is so much music to go within a five hour drive, it's crazy...five hour drive from Ft Lauderdale gets you still in Florida.

Forget about me, hope you had fun!!!

I absolutely love TAB, so much fun (and back to me)...my first show since Feb 2022 (that was a Heavy Pets show in Boca, which if you haven't checked out The Heavy Pets, you're welcome) was TAB in Wilmington and they opened with Drifting...I am a much much better person when I have live music in my life and I definitely had some tears in that moment.

yeah did the first Merriweather show - the day after the Friday Raleigh show..I had Sunday tickets but it rained so I sold the tickets...glad I did TAB-Goose (2 miles from the house) on a sold-out colledge campus...Billy Strings walked-ob and played several songs as well...for the encore everyone came out...there were 16 on stage for 30 minutes...I want them to play Hampton again, they are due...Hampton Comes Alive...btw..check out Goose...they are pretty darn good...happy new year

Nice!!! Did you get a chance to catch any of the other shows in the run?

I did last nite show...I took the train from DC to Penn-Grand Central yesterday...ran up the steps...got a couple slices of pizza...inhaled them while walking into the Garden...sat in the upper deck...saw Phish for second time...and Trey for the third (TAB-Goose at GMU week before XAMS)...ran down the train and took the overnite redeye choo-chooback to DC...just woke up...blaze on...you enjoy myself..at least you tweezer and reprise tonite !

  15. well..OBJ and TY aren't coming...

so add the lack of salary cap space...bottom of the roster maintenance

the result is a couple of vets (add Rhodes, Klein, Marlowe, Shaq, Bark) who know the system and fit the culture...

no want drops during playoffs... and Bills are second worst in that stat ahead of only...Jax...b

  16. Cole is back for 1). depth 2). good hands..and 3).his ability to find the openings in the underneath coverage areas...and maybe a little bit of vet tips for Shakir is what we get..

cole and brown are good depth signings esp for the playoffs where we go against better defenses and related coaching...Mckenzie has too many drops and Shakir is not ready for prime time at least this season.
