Beane, as always, great job not actually answering any questions.
How carefully he answered some were very telling though, IMO.
Did Diggs ask for a trade? Beane:

My only question is how in the world are we giving up more picks to trade Diggs than what we are getting back? That doesn’t sound right…
The salary/contract.

If the Bills are going to be a serious contender this year they need to trade for an Aiyuk, Higgins, or Jefferson. If not, then they need to make a massive trade up to get one of those top three WR prospects. That's the only way this team competes for a Super Bowl this year and it sucks if it doesn't happen.
Higgins was franchise tagged, right?
I think Aiyuk would make the most sense if they're looking for an established #1 guy.
I'm more intrigued with the trade up for a rookie and you bring in a WR like Thomas that's kind of a low risk gamble.

Also not to mention those that are still out there and can help at a reduced cost that while the rookies get up to speed.
Hunter Renfrow
Allen Robinson
Tyler Boyd
OBJ
Michael Thomas
Kendrick Bourne
There are some interesting names there to pair with a rookie (that you might want to trade up for).
You have to think this went into Beane's decision making process.

Maybe we can find a way to get either Thomas or OBJ. I know this probably hurts our financial flexibility but maybe there can be some magic with the numbers. If we used all these picks ti move way up and grab one of the elite WRs and added with M. Thomas or OBJ.. then all of a sudden I like what we have.
The longer they sit out there the cheaper they'll be. Thomas + trade up 1st round WR is more interesting to me than OBJ, but I wouldn't hate it.

They take a WR in the 2nd.
In that (awful, in my opinion) scenario, I'd hope they'd trade up to 29-31 to leapfrog the Chiefs, who are going to be the beginning of the 2nd run on WRs.

Cover 1 guys having meltdowns on Twitter is pretty amusing.
All of their "NO HE CANNOT BE TRADED" "WE DON'T HAVE ANY $"
They weren't wrong in the pure football discussion of it, it made little sense to move on.
BUT if you factor in the seemingly undeniable off the field / "diva" complaints, then it makes sense.- 1

I say we package some picks, throw Elam into the deal and giddy up......grab our future young WR, maybe 2
Elam wouldn't add much to the compensation, he's probably worth a 5th-6th round pick at this point due to his 1st round rookie salary.

That is what I thought, but was waiting for spotrac to finalize it.
It isn't all that massive. It is $3M more than his cap hit on the roster.
Basically the Bills spent $3M in 2024 cap dollars today in order to free up $25M in 2025 cap dollars. It's massive because that dead cap would be paying Diggs (minus 3 mil), and now you don't have that on a player.
That being said, I don't think it's wrong if all this reporting is true. Diggs is a great player but we need guys on the same page as Allen. Whatever falling out they might have been unfixable.
Hopefully we move up a draft a top 3-4 WR this draft and continue to invest in the room.

I do not believe this is true. Right now Spotrac is showing that we take Diggs $27M cap number off the books for 2025. That could change as this whole thing gets finalized, but it won't be $30M regardless. There is no dead cap on a traded player the season after. All dead cap gets moved to the year they were traded. It's one of the reasons people thought he couldn't be traded, the Bills have taken on a massive dead cap hit but have cleared the books (saving 25ish mil) next season.

It may be but it had to be done. You can’t have your qb and star wr splintered like that.Bad news is Bills might not even get to the divisional round next season to flop. Or maybe that’s good news? Take a step back to move forward.
If the Bills did nothing (not even drafted) and came into next season with exactly what they have I still think they have a great chance (I'll put it at 70% arbitrarily) to win the division.
This is the year to retool if there ever has been one.

It's impossible to know right now, so I gave it a C. The receiving core is obviously worse as of right now but I got to think the Bills have a plan.

Would y'all rather trade up in a massive move for a Nabers, Harrison, Odunze then take another guy mid-rounds or use a pick next year to move up and double dip on say a Xavier Legette and AD Mitchell?
In a vacuum I'd prefer to double dip but I don't want to go into the season without an established presence in that room.
So I guess I want a trade up. I see them going Brian Thomas and then drafting another in the 4th, along with some kind of veteran trade or signing.

Was a hell of a run. I'll still think of Diggs' time here fondly.
Can anyone explain what this does to next year's cap?
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but this makes Diggs have 0 effect on the cap next year. All the dead money is pushed to this season.

So who are the supposed top 3 receivers in this year's draft again? Harrison Jr. and who else?
Brian Thomas makes the most sense for the Bills. It's a more realistic trade up.

this ONLY makes sense if we are trading up for Harrison, Odueb (sp), or Nabers. Not even Thomas may warrant this, but if we don't land one of those 4 from the draft this is an utter failure, and Josh should be asking for a trade next.
Agreed, unless they have another trade in mind for an established #1 in the league. I don't know if there's anyone available I'd be super excited about though.

We can argue whether or not it's a good decision, but it is freaking wild.
Fun offseason now. Two WRs early? Another Trade incoming? Just nutty.
Thanks Diggs for everything.

40% of snaps on defense is significant. Having high quality DT3 play on every D-snap is smart. Especially if you can get those snaps on a rookie contract.
Davis played something like 90% of offensive snaps. It's a greater need.

I don't think this is going to fix much, and it's ultimately going to end up a "dead play" with teams opting to just put the ball on the 30 instead of risking a big play since returners are going to be much more talented then the caliber you see in the XFL (which seems like they get to the 30 most of the time anyways).

I think it's unlikely he will have as good as a stat line as he did in Baltimore with Miami.
He didn't have a good statline with Baltimore.
