  1. I really like how the OP said to himself “hey this is a historically bad idea, I think I’m going to write this down for all of the internet to see”

Edit:I actually had a lot more written down, but I felt bad for the OP and deleted most of what I wrote

I fully agree, I understand it should be a certain level of frustration with him, but some talk like he is worthless. He's had some flashes here and there, also I for one thought that INT he made in the EZ against Steelers in the playoffs was a damn good play.

So this justifies him taking a roster spot? Time to cut yoUr losses and move on. We made one mistake picking him. Let's not compound it by keeping him.

But he’s not an unrosterable guy. What losses are you cutting? Doesn’t look like he’s a starter but he’s fine for depth. I would much rather have him in the game than Cam Lewis

Simms is right. Nobody knows what went on in the locker room. Josh could’ve pressed Diggs multiple times. He’s just smart enough not to throw him under the bus in front of the media. I think we as fans want somebody to put Diggs in his place in front of the cameras, that WOULD be satisfying, but what would it accomplish besides giving the media even more to ***** about? A 2nd rounder next year is a GOOD deal. We eat the money this year then we are home free. As much as I hate drafting somebody based on “character” I hope they grab a WR who’s not a cry baby.

Exactly-Josh had been in the league 6 years now, and all we have ever heard is what a good leader he is. You would think if he wasn’t someone would’ve said something at some point over the last 6 years. I have said it 1,000 times on here and will continue to say it-SCREAMING AT YOUR TEAMMATES IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS DURING A GAME DOES NOT MAKE SOMEONE A GOOD LEADER

Or, in your case, murderers row. ;)

He came off the bench.  He's a first rounder. You call out one play he made and you say coach him up.

He doesn't fit here. I think he something to offer, just not here.

But what are you getting for him? Don’t trade him just to get anything, that’s ludicrous. He’s on a rookie deal at a position of need-that being said he was on the bench, he was inactive, and he was on IR last year…so what could they possibly get for him? His trade value has never been lower and will never be lower

I'd trade like a 4th round pick. He has done nothing but show the team was absolutely stupid for trading AJ Brown and drafting him as the replacement

Keenan Allen was traded for a 4th round pick-no way is Burks worth the same. I would be very upset if they traded a 4th for him

  7. Giving up a first round pick for a second round pick is NOT a good idea. You’re giving up a first rounder for a guy who is definitively a second round player. Has a team ever given up a first round for a second round?

I like the rest of it, but you lost me at the trade (also not completely sold on Aiyuk)

I bet Doug Whaley would have been better with Josh.

Whaley built the team that broke the drought. Without Josh.

    Polian at least made Superbowls.

Oh buddy, you were doing so well too. I didn’t agree with you but at least it seemed like you had some thought and logic behind your earlier posts. Then you go and say this, and now you’ve lost

He gets plenty of criticism, especially the last two years.  However, we should ask how many NFL GMs have clearly done a better job than Beane.  I feel there is only two obvious ones and a bunch who are on a similar level

    1. Brett Veach - Chiefs (obviously)

    2. Howie Roseman -- Eagles: Two Super Bowls with two different QBs and two different coaches but the team fell apart at the end of last year and they might be in a bit of trouble if it turns out Jalen Hurts is not the guy.

On same level  (in no particular order)

    3. Eric DeCosta -- Ravens --- always has good drafts but one wonders how high their ceiling is with Lamar Jackson.

    4. Brian Gutekunst -- Packers --- nice job transitioning from Rogers to Love.

    5. John Lynch -- 49ers -- two super bowls in the weaker NFC.  However one has to wonder how much is luck and the extra draft picks the 49ers have gotten, considering how many complete busts he has had in the first round (Solomon Thomas, Reuben Foster, Trey Lance, Javon Kinlaw).   Beane never made a mistake anywhere close to the disastrous trade up for Trey Lance.

    6. Wes Snead -- Rams -- one Super Bowl victory but mortgaged the future for it.

    7. Duke Tobin -- Bengals -- got to one Super Bowl but has not been able to protect Joe Burrow and was extremely lucky to get that Super Bowl.

Off to a good start but not yet proven:

    8. Nick Caserio -- Texans -- masterful job rebuilding the Texans and still has a lot of draft capital.

    9. Brad Holmes -- Lions -- only two years on the job so far so will need to see sustained success.

I don't know if the OP thinks Beane should be fired but you certainly aren't getting any of these guys to come to Buffalo.

So DeCosta is an interesting name you bring up. I feel people around here generally see him as a good GM, but he’s had a lot of misses on draft picks. They have been throwing draft pick after draft pick at wide receivers in the first three rounds ever since they drafted Lamar-have any of them been a huge hit?

DK Metcalf has too many question marks.  His salary is already too high IMO.  He's in the J Jefferson range and J Jeff would be the much better player to get.

I'm talking myself back into Dhop.  He is great value at that $13M range - and I think he has much better hands than Metcalf.  Dhop would be a great bridge as we develop someone like A Mitchell/Legette/Franklin/McConkey or Coleman.  All those rookies are risky though (even BTJ) whereas DHop is a known commodity.

Tenn has a high pick, number 7, I believe.  Trading to get up there would take too much IMO.  But Tenn may want to grab one of the big 3 and then unload DHop.  The question would be what would it take draft capital wise.

If Keenan Allen was traded for a 4th, DHop isn’t going for anything more than a 5th and it would think even that’s pushing it

Riddle me this, in an obvious rebuild year, why not let Trubisky take several more snaps to save Josh’s body and build trade value for himself in the future? With Josh’s physical style of play, taking serious body blows in a season not setup to see more than 4-6 wins just doesn’t make sense to me. Crazy take but what else can you say

This is 100% the dumbest thing I’ve heard since the trade was announced

I suppose, but our wins were not all impressive.  Remember, we needed unlikely defensive TDs to beat Miami and NE.

I'm in the minority on thinking that Brady's not going to be good.

Also controversial, although for the life of me I don't know why, is the take that we should be doing everything that we can to build around and support Allen, particularly the passing game.  (WRs/OL). Rather, we have a coach that insists on focusing on the D and running game whether that running game is provided by a RB or QB being indifferent.  Remember, Cook doesn't run on 3rd-downs.

Our current situation is very unsettling.

BTW, Allen ran twice as much under Brady.  His rushing attempts went from 4.7/game to 9.1.

I don’t care about impressive wins-you know who didn’t have a whole lot of impressive wins last year (and even the year before that)? The Chiefs. All that matters is they win the games

  13. So the problem obviously is the Bills will have to pay him right away, and my guess would be Diggs current deal is the floor of what that deal would be. Personally I don’t know much about the guy-can he separate, can he make catches in traffic, I have read that he is a good YAC guy, but is that because of the system he was in? I also don’t want the Bills giving up their first round pick. If the 49ers came to the Bills with an offer they should listen, I’m not convinced the Bills should be calling them though

I would try to hold onto Minnys pick being they may be pretty bad this upcoming season.

It would take the sting out of having no first next season if we have a high second instead of what will likely be a later mid round selection

And I do love Nabers...maybe moreso than MHJ. But if I were Brandon Beane, I would stand pat and take Legette, Mitchell, or Coleman, and then double down using next year's first to get a high second and select another one. This increases the likelihood that you solve the WR issue along with still having a second this season to go and add another possible impact player to the roster.

Sorry I’m confused-you would trade the Bills first round pick next year to get into the 2nd round this year? That idea seems very flawed

Ever watch a QB constantly target a WR and nobody can stop it...kinda like Mahomes to Tyreek Hill or TE Travis Kelec?

Buffalo needs a WR / TE that can get open and catch the ball no matter who is covering them like the two above. Diggs was good, but he wasn't that guy. Look at his stats in the playoffs the last few seasons and he does nothing in those games. Not worth 24 million a year to disappear in the playoffs.

    From Jerry Jabber:

There’s a saying in the NFL, you’re only as good as your last game. Here’s Diggs’ stats in the last four playoff losses.

    6 rec, 77 yards, 0 TD

    3 rec, 7 yards, 0 TD

    4 rec, 35 yards, 0 TD

    3 rec, 21 yards, 0 TD

    Beane has a plan!

Wait hold on-Diggs has been quiet in the playoffs???? How has no one ever mentioned this before?!?!?!

100%- I will add, the dynamics with people can be extremely complicated. I think Steph and his personality made it harder for Josh to really take the leadership role by the horns. Allen came in the league and Steph was older, more experienced, more of a presence. The dynamic was fine for Steph at first, he was the alpha, the man. But I think as Allen grew into stardom Steph sort of wanted to maintain that pecking order. Josh isn't loud, he's excessively polite. He's just not the type to drop his Johnson on the ground and take charge. What part of that he did have in him, I think Stephs presence likely made him less likely to express it. But people like Josh can be that way in the right environment. It starts off by not being heavily challenged which was more likely to occur with Steph around. Over time confidence grows and you learn to express yourself as a vocal leader. Now all of our former captains gone this is Allens team. Nobody is left to challenge him. It's such a great opportunity for him to become more than a leader with how he plays. This just feels right to me in so many ways. Excited for the first time all offseason believe it or not.

I don’t buy this at all. You are giving Diggs way too much credit over Josh’s leadership abilities. I don’t believe Diggs had that much influence on how Josh led the team. I also don’t get this obsession of needing to see Josh be “vocal” on the sidelines, as if that somehow makes him a better leader. Good leaders don’t need to scream at their teammates on the sidelines. We also have no idea what Josh does in terms of leadership the other 6 days a week. Players love playing for him, they all say he’s a great leader, and this has absolutely been Josh’s team the last several years. The “no one left to challenge him” line is just nonsense

if so not for long, sadly for Diggs he has become injury prone over the last couple of seasons, and disappears in the post season, that’s not what one wants as a “ 1b” receiver,  he will be a slot type of guy for one or two seasons then get likely gets waived/cut. Age is a SOB when you’re a pro athlete.

Oh I definitely agree with that. He certainly could be supplanted by the end of the year. I just don’t think the Texans are ready to make Dell the definitive #2 yet, especially coming off his injury

  18. 1 minute ago, Don Otreply said:

He was already losing his target share during the last seven games of last season, now he is the #3 guy for Houston,

He’s above Dell so he’s the 2, honestly probably closer to a 1B to Collins 1A

responding to fans in such a manner that can be perceived as direct disrespect toward your QB is unwise....to say the least.

But again that’s your perception of what he is saying. You have made no mistake about it, you want him gone-that’s fine, that’s your opinion, don’t have a problem with it. But are you reading too much into it?

I like Diggs, I think he’s a good teammate, i don’t really care what he says on Twitter, and I read it more as someone was taking a shot at him not being elite any more, not a shot at Josh.

That’s where the line is though. For those of you who want him gone, you’re looking for those types of things and perceived slights. At least from my POV it doesn’t seem like the team or Josh are really taking anything he says on Twitter seriously

For the love of god, how thin skinned are some of you?

Yeah, Diggs is a drama llama and a bit of a ***** stirrer. I don't care. I don't remember him ever slagging off the team in public. The closest was his visible frustration on the sideline at how poor the game planning and execution for the offense was for the Bengals game which...same.

Remember when he posted a heart emoji, and then "Ready for Whatever" and people assumed he was trying to force his way off the team? Some people got an idea fixed in their head and are going to interpret all evidence to that end, regardless of context.

The irony of some on here overreacting to Diggs tweets, calling him soft and a diva….because of his tweets

  22. 5 minutes ago, TheWeatherMan said:

Not a chance 4 WRs go top 12.  The last time the Giants passed on a QB to draft a skill position it didn’t work out very well for them.  Denver selecting the 4th best WR at 12 when they have no QB is laughable.  They are either trading up for a QB or trading down for a 1st + in next years draft to have ammo for one.  There’s a good chance 5 QBs go high with Penix possibly penetrating the top 15.

Personally, I think there are way too many crappy teams that will be looking to find a cornerstone QB or build the trenches first before spending a top 10 pick on a WR.

So just to counter that, is it better to take the 4th best WR or the 5th best QB? Taking the 5th best QB could set back a franchise even more. Taking the WR probably is setting up Denver to draft early next year and they could end up with a much better prospect
