  1. Marino posting (cherry picking) an article saying we are more likely to stay put or trade down doesn’t do much for me. I like the guy and listen to him all the time, but of course he is going to post and article that has someone saying what he prefers to happen. Hes totally against trading up.

I believe OBD has a few plans but the most likely scenario would involve a WR at 28 or a trade down from 28 into top of 2nd thus picking up a 3rd Rd pick as well.  Do see OBD picking 2 WRs; one with their 1st pick  (at 28 or lower) and another later but before pick 150.

With all due respect…have you seen Beane in the first round?  We are most likely trading up imo. We have the ammo to do it to get a stud to replace diggs

Obviously,  they need a replacement,  but I would prefer to take one at both 28 and 60 rather than a major trade up from 28.  Inevitably,  someone available at 28 is going to be as good,  if not better than at least one of the guys that go earlier.  And they need two now,  anyway,  not just one.

They can then fill out the remaining holes with their later round picks and use some of the June 1st cap room on bargain veterans.

The problem now is we need someone to come in right away that has number 1 potential from day one. If we had Diggs, there was room for growth from the rookie. Now we need a day 1 contributor.

You are downgrading Troy Franklin that’s how I know that you’re placing too much emphasis on it

Guys that were first round picks do not all of a sudden not become first round picks because of the underwear Olympics

I do wonder, depending on who is still on the board if the bills are not formulating a plan to take a defensive lineman in round one and then trade up and round two for a wide receiver

Once again, not saying, this is what I would do but

Why can’t it be the other way around though?  What if they are planning on getting a WR in 1 and then trade up in 2 to get their DT?

you sure?  It depends how many teams take QB’s and OL instead.  Could be 7 or 8 in the 1st IMO

There are also gonna be some DBs and defensive line taken as well.

I do think Shorter is a possibility there. I haven't forgotten him, but I doubt Beane is willing to gamble that a fifth round pick is more than one option. I can't believe he won't want to add a more significant piece, where Shorter provides some redundancy. As I've said several times, I like Thomas, Mitchell, and Legette for that role. I doubt Thomas is there at #28. I think Mitchell may be gone as well. I suspect Legette will be sitting there.

Fella earlier, must be @SoonerBillsFan was speculating about McConkey and comparing him to Diggs. It's not outlandish. I think McConkey could grow into the new Diggs, so clearly, he is worth taking at #28. But in my view, you would still need to strengthen the X. If you go with Ladd early, I believe you should try and trade up and grab Coleman in the second if he falls that far. There are some mid-round bigger receivers you could also consider. Conversely, if the Bills grab Legette, I'd want to find a way to get Pearsall or Roman Wilson. Well, ideally, I'd like to find a way to grab Mitchell or Legette, and McConkey. Such a strategy would cost assets, probably some 2025 picks, because you're moving up to make that happen.

However Beane works it, I think he needs to come out of this draft with two young receivers. Honestly, I think it would be a shame not to do so given the potential at WR in this draft.

I can almost guarantee that Beane won’t bet on shorter after Davis seemingly backfired on him.

At this point KC's getting a very good wr no matter what. And there's nothing we can do about it.  But what we can do is make absolute sure our target wr (Thomas,  Mitchell, McConkey) fits our system and expectations.  And I'd even consider landing another wr in the 2nd if the value is there.

My fear is that we go defense in round 1, which allows KC to get a WR that we all like. It seems to be McDs MO…try stopping the other teams’ offense. Another thing that worries me is KC trading up a pick or two in front of us and taking our guy, kinda like how they came up for McDuffie  and forced us to reach for Elam. Yuck.

All that said…I hope I’m wrong and we are all celebrating our new stud first round WR soon enough.

The combine made this far more difficult than I was expecting. Still have Harrison, Nabers, and Odunze as the top-3 and will be long gone. Here’s my ranking as of today:

Marvin Harrison Jr. - Ohio State

    Malik Nabers - LSU

    Rome Odunze - Washington

    Brian Thomas Jr. - LSU

    Adonai Mitchell - Texas

    Ladd McConkey - Georgia

    Xavier Worthy - Texas

    Xavier Legette - South Carolina

    Keon Coleman - FSU

    Troy Franklin - Oregon

    Ja’Lynn Polk - Washington

I highlighted Thomas Jr, AD, and McConkey as likely targets. Thomas Jr will not make it to 28 but I would consider a trade up if the draft falls in a way that makes sense. AD might need to hop a few spots but will possibly go in the early 20s, McConkey should be there but I want to wait until pro days before being committed.

Worthy I have a 2nd round grade on but absolutely can see someone grabbing him round 1 based on speed alone. Legette looks like a man among boys but his total body of work isn’t as impressive as others (doesn’t mean he isn’t good, but he was a late bloomer. Is that because he was 3-4 years older than some of his competition or Did he turn a corner?)

Coleman and Franklin I had as late 1st/early 2nd grades on but can see some people push them straight to round 2 based on the combine performance. Coleman had a slow 40 but moved well during drills. Franklin had a good 40 but didn’t perform as well during drills. I’ve said it before that they shouldn’t have their stock lowered that much, but I would not be surprised to see them miss round 1 unless they rebound well during pro days. **These two are still great options and I have confidence they will look better in the coming weeks**

Polk is the one guy I don’t think moved up or down for me at all. He’s a 2nd rounder, and a good one. There’s just too many other dudes who do something a little better overall than him. Again, quality player, but he’s not going round 1 barring something crazy

I like Polk a lot, but I don’t think he will fit what we are looking for because they have been very vocal about wanting speed and polk was in the 4.5’s.

This!!! If we can find a partner trade down a bit. We will still get a guy like Legette at that point.

Who is at the top of the second that might need a qb if nix and/or McCarthy fall to 28?  We might be able to recoup a first rounder next year to move down to allow that team to come up for the qb on the fifth year option.

I don't think McConkey fits the skill set of what they need or are looking for at #28, though I love him. That's my order, though.

McConkey also said he didn’t meet with the bills at the combine. One of the only top guys that didn’t meet with them. However…he did talk to them at the senior bowl.

  10. I am trying to not corner myself into one player this year, because it never seems to go the way I want it to. Instead, I’m trying to put some of the WRs in a bucket and hoping for one of them.

Right now, I would take one of Brian Thomas, Troy Franklin, or AD Mitchell at 28. It seems as though Franklin and Mitchell might still be somewhat realistic. Thomas may have put himself firmly in the top 20 after yesterday.

Mitchell has that big game pedigree that we need. Cosell also loves him and says he thinks he might be a top 10 wr in the league in 3 years. Good enough for me…

    You are generous and amazing.

And your wife truly was a special person, who chose a special spouse.

Thank You for saying that. I didn’t always show it, or act like it, but I loved her. Dealing with a lot of remorse that it took this to realize some of these things

  12. It is with sadness to say that my wife of 20 years passed last evening. She was 46. She was a wonderful wife and mother and a joy to everyone she met. Die hard Bills fan. Especially loved Poyer and Knox (like most women do…haha). I’m devastated, but I can’t thank you all enough for your thoughts, prayers, well-wishes, and donations. You are all amazing and now, even more than before, a part of my family.

God bless all of you, and make amends with your loved ones before it’s too late. There will be a lot of good coming from this trajedy through the advice that she has inspired and all the recipients of her organs that will get the opportunity to continue to live.

  13. It is with a heavy heart that I have to let you all know the doctors can’t do anything more for my beautiful wife. She had a massive stroke on Saturday night (on top of the massive aneurysm on Friday night) and we have decided to remove her air tube on Wednesday morning.

This has taught me so much. First, how much I truly loved and depended on my wife. Second, how precious life is. Third, don’t say, do, or have actions that you might regret. Fourth, football is just a game.

We all love the Bills and have different ways that we think they need to go, but in the end, none of it matters. Hold tight the ones you love. Don’t sweat financial issues, stay close to your spouse, and just flat out do the very best you can.

    With love…Scott and Jill Whorley

Any positive news today whorlnut?  Most likely an Interventional Neuro Radiologist coiled it to remove.  I used to work in that space.

I’m headed to the hospital right now. Had to be home for the kids last night. The hospital is 90 minutes from my house.

Prayers.  Can we help you in any way right now?  Order something by Door Dash or Uber Eats delivered to the hospital?  God bless Bills brother...

Thank you so much. I honestly don’t have much of an appetite but the offer is amazing.

My sister said she will start one and send me a link. Thanks again
