I get what you mean though. I wanted the Bills to draft Prescott, but apparently the Cowboys wanted him more.

sorry if you read the article, it said that Lee tried to convince Whaley to take Prescott but his heart was set on Cardale Jones.  That’s what I was referring to

I love how they pick good QBs and then say “we planned to draft them.” Ha ha, I’m waiting for the article that says “Bills had their heart set on Christian Ponder” (which was also rumored). They selectively pick good QBs and are like “yeah, that was my guy.”

Yes and it’s a lot of revisionist history for Lee and Nix here.  Of course, Buddy wanted Russell Wilson!

  3. A lot of revisionist history here from Buddy Nix.  If he loved Russel Wilson as much as he said he did, why wouldn’t he take him before the 4th round?  Why would he take TJ “FN” Graham ahead of him?  It’s because he didn’t value Russ as much as he wants you to believe back then.

Also Doug Whaley taking Cardale Jones over Dak Prescott.  TERRIBLE.

Yet there are so many stans in this group that will say Nix and Whaley were good GM’s.  They were horrible and screwed this franchise

Listening to the windbag live right now. He's saying the Buffalo Bills may be up next to change their name.

Rationale: They are named after Buffalo Bill Cody who murdered many Native Americans.

I hope the Bills don't change their name.

    (it's 930 AM, or WBEN on radio.com)

LOL this is a huge stretch.  We have many Native American reservations located in Western, NY.  I’ve never heard one publicly voice a complaint over the name or the way that the organization has presented it.

Also it’s not like Buffalo Bill Cody has any presence in the stadium or relation to the team other than in name

There are probably other teams in line before the Bills.

    Chiefs self explanatory

Buccaneers were pirates that pillaged the seas

Vikings plundered and raped as they pleased

Cowboys fought with Indians and took their land

Also the Patriots.  Because many of our forefathers, including John Hancock in MA, owned slaves

Would there even be a Bills brand to tarnish but for Ralph?

Say what you will, but RW also did more than his fair share of positives for both the club as well as the Buffalo community at large, imho.

Sure but that was mostly early in his tenure.  The decisions that he made during his final 2 decades of ownership were terrible.  His legacy is one that’s complicated.  As a philanthropist, he did some good things for Western, NY - no doubt.  As an owner, he made some terrible terrible decisions that made the football team (and the city of Buffalo) a laughingstock  around the NFL.  That’s a fact

Good.  Put it on your 9-10 p.m. segment.  We're excoriating RB now.

Fair enough, he deserves his share of the blame. You can’t forget about the guy who empowered him and...to quote RB....”tarnished the brand” the most.

agree ?.draft capital means it is finally real competition for Haush money. and IMO a needed competition. Nothing against Haush, but IF we can get better...do it

Sal Capaccio said on WGR this morning that he thought Hauschka would have a hard time unseating Bass.  Bass not only had a strong leg but he’s accurately in mid-range FG’s as well.  This would have been a big surprise this past Spring but I do think it’s more likely.

I am a huge fan of Coach McD and believe Bills are lucky to have him. He does almost all the important things right. But there is one area that he needs to improve on, his biggest weakness, game management. Specifically the offensive philosophy when taking a lead in a big game. He goes hyper conservative. The playoff game v Houston for example. Bills with a 16-0 lead, produce a turnover in Houston territory. Great chance to put the game away. What is play call - three straight runs, including a run play on third & 3. Unsuccessful, forced to punt. One great indicator of a too conservative offense is when a team loses a game in which they won the turnover battle. The second New England game is another great example. Bills down early, come roaring back to take a 17-13 lead, and force a 3 & out. Bills get the ball, predictable as the sun rising in the East, run three straight times and punt. You can’t beat elite teams with that mentality. This was another game where Bills win turnover battle, but lose the game.

This has been a huge reason why we have been so unsuccessful v Patriots. Going back to Saint Doug, then Rex, and now McD, the same mentality has been employed. Take a lead or tie the game, and the offense goes into a shell. And Belichek knows this, when this situation arises in a game, he loads the front anticipating the run. And the Bills (unsuccessfully) run anyway, giving Brady the ball and the time to win the game. McD needs to change his mentality in order for the Bills to win playoff games. And please, don’t tell me that it’s the OC calling the plays. The head coach has a great amount of input, during the game, as to what TYPE of plays he wants called in various phases of the game. Again, big McD fan here, and he gets almost everything else right, an that’s no small feat.

There are so many factors that go into playcalling. First we don’t know whether the calls were all

Daboll or whether McDermott ordered those safe calls as you would suggest.  Also we don’t know whether Josh audibled out of the original playcall into a run.  I believe this happened their possession of the half.  The Bills ran the ball And everyone lost their mind and said that it was a bad call by Daboll.  In actuality, it was a pass play and Josh audibled into a Gore run which was stuffed.  He confirmed this after the game.

The 3rd factor is the OL.  They were improved but overall the unit wasn’t great at overpowering fronts when they needed to.  This has happened in short yardage or at the end of games.  The line remains intact this season but they will need to play better.

I think if the Bills struggle offensively in 2020, it will be time to begin asking some serious questions about about one or more of three people: McDermott, Daboll, Allen. We'll know which ones of the three after this season.

I don’t disagree though, if it’s an offensive issue Daboll and/or Allen will take the heat before McDermott does

You obviously have no idea what is accurate and what is ridiculous. Have you even bothered to read the other posts in this thread and all others you ‘contribute’ to that counter your bizarre takes? Seen and comprehend the emojis implying the same? You haven’t made a single post that ISN’T ridiculous since you changed your screen name yet again.

Make an appointment with your doctor tomorrow. If you’re not on meds, therein lies the problem.

So because you disagree with my opinion that Chris Brown isn’t a good choice to replace John Murphy, you’re now resorting to personal insults?

    Wow.

I think you are mistaken. There are a few loud posters who don't like Brown (the same ones who never listen to the show anyways because they think it is propaganda) but most DO like him.

He does his homework and knows the team in and out. He is fairly knowledgeable about other teams in the NFL. His takes on players and coaches are generally sound, unlike Murphy sometimes or especially Tasker. He pays attention at practices and events and reports good insight.

He is a homer and focuses on the positives, but I'm not going to fault someone for liking the Bills and not focusing on the negatives. There are PLENTY of radio shows that bash the Bills and ignore the good things about them.

And I don't know what this obsession is with asking "hard ball" questions in press conferences, like it should be a journalist's job to anger and trip up those who they are interviewing. This is football, not politics. It's entertainment. Coaches are so guarded I don't really think it matters what they are asked.

we’ll have to agree to disagree.  I don’t enjoy listening to Chris Brown and won’t be tuning into One Bills Live.

As I explained, I don’t feel he offers enough and I don’t care for his delivery.  He’s just not interesting.  Also with some many nuanced NFL topics, it’s annoying to hear someone so heavily biased.  Keep in mind, in the past he sung the praises of moves like hiring Dick Jauron or drafting CJ Spiller.

Also fans want reporters to ask the questions they want to know - not about the Bills defensive line rotation.

So much for “the best locally”

Well a lot of people here will be happy (including me)  but will have to find another whipping boy now that Murph is stepping down . I wonder if the Peg's didn't want Murph back as the radio guy ? ?

Browny has a really good football mind IMHO but i know there are those here that will bash him just because that's they way they are  .

I look forward to CB's take Matty i'm not real sure of but we shall see . At least i'm not going to bash them with out giving them a shot .

We bash Brown because he very rarely offers anything insightful.  He loves every move and every  coaching GM hire.  It’s hard to take him serious.

It’s how you view the world.

I just never needed my hosts to sweet talk and spin every Bills story positively.

I didn’t need Chris Brown to trumpet the arrival of Doug Marrone after the 5-day “no stone unturned” Coaching search, or explain how big WRs with a large catch radius would help their young QBs, or how Trent Edwards gave the Bills a chance in every game because he didn’t turn the ball over.

Chris has been with the Bills forever. He loves every move they make, he marginalizes other teams success, and asks the softest questions I have ever heard postgame. He has learned to repeat cliches that our bad Coaches over the years have said. That’s his knowledge of football.

I don’t learn anything because he is a common fan with a microphone. He doesn’t “know” football, just like Sal doesn’t “know” football. They listen to the same Coaches press conferences as we do, and tell you what they say. There is no Jay Glazer/Adam Schefter type inside information.

Just keep bringing Greg Cosell on so we can get accurate, film based opinions on the Bills. That part they got right.

This is probably the most accurate review of Chris Brown I’ve ever read.

I wonder if Sal is a WGR employee therefore, there is a barrier to him being the official host of that show?  I know though, that he fills in from time to time... but maybe that is considered a "WGR" show and not a "Bills" show when that happens?

Or maybe he declined because too much workload?  Or maybe he wasnt asked.

Im not the biggest Sal fan (although I have warmed up a bit because he has gone easy on the yelling into the microphone for no reason), but he seems like a natural fit to host One Bills Live.

But yeah, Brown and Glab sounds like a bad show.  I dont mind Brown in spurts.  Glab is in no way an 'expert' or even particularly knowledgeable.  This is fine if you are the 'broadcaster professional' who keeps the show moving, helps dialog along, etc.... but she gives the vibe that she isnt great behind the mic and often it sounds like a college radio station.

I would listen to Sal as host.  I do think the Bills wanted a PSE employee to host the show which is probably why he wasn’t given the job.

Fortunately for the men on the board she's a lesbian so there's nothing to worry about there.

People don't realize how good Murph is.  It is hard to do a three hour live TV show every day.  And it's really hard to do it when football is out of season.

It sucks that Murph is leaving, but if he has to go Chris Brown will do a really nice job as a replacement.  Brownie is capable of making that show work.  Smart, smooth as glass, and also a great guy.

The love for Chris Brown boggles my mind.  He’s hosted for Murph before and the shows have been very boring.   That’s what we have to look forward to

  14. 2 hours ago, Chandler#81 said:

If I had my ‘druthers’, Murph would be out of the broadcast booth and keep the day job. But I’ve felt this way since the day he took over from Van.

Brown is good -probably the best locally. But he comes off as a know-it-all and looks like the last kid picked in pick up games.

I guess I’m in the minority all around as I like Maddie (y?)

Chris Brown is “the best locally?”  I feel there are a lot of good reporters who cover the Bills beat....he is not one of them.

  15. 2 hours ago, MJS said:

Brown is awesome, but Glab is useless.

Chris Brown is terrible.  Worse than John Murphy

The fact that there are people in here who are stanning for Chris Brown is mind boggling.  He rarely offers any insight and his takes are so boring and uninteresting.  He’s a less charismatic and entertaining version of John Murphy.

FA was even more “leaky” than the draft this year FWIW.

Addison, Diggs, and the E. Sanders pursuits were out there really early.

How much of this really was leaked info?  We didn’t know the Bills were in talks for Diggs.  If you believe Beane, it happened very quickly.  There was nothing in the news to suggest that this info was leaked.

Same thing with Sanders.  He was the one who went to the press and said he was talking with Buffalo.  Again, there wasn’t anything they linked them together.

In regard to Addison, I feel that this was a lot of speculation and connecting the dots.  On paper he was the perfect addition, had a past with McDermott/Washington, and wasn’t going to command to crazy contract.  The move made sense and many beat reporters speculated Addison as a FA target.

The means I’m referring to are stories that make their way to the press BEFORE something happens.  Like the situations I described above
