I LOVE that diggs got in Josh's face. Someone had to. He was the only guy on this team that wanted to win and seemed to actually put the work in. Josh is far more concerned with chasing Hollywood tail and golfing.

I love how hard Josh plays, but he just doesn't put the mental work in and it's the reason he doesn't have a ring yet, and perhaps never will.

They've never had less accountability or more excuses to fall short than they will in 2024, and that's what I fully expect to happen. "A lot of new faces" "It took us a while to gel" "We ran out of steam" "emotionally exhausted" etc. Is a loser culture in that locker room full of soft personalities and a weak coach. Diggs didn't fit that and that's not a him problem, it's a Bills problem. Looking forward to Dawkins showing up out of shape as per usual too.

    Why are you so miserable?

    Genuinely worried about you, man.

So if the white QB yells at the black WR on the sideline it's ok. But if the black WR yells at the white QB it's a no no.

    Got it!

I saw Brady yell at his guys multiple times on the sideline and nobody ever called him a diva.

Mahommes and his WR argued on the sideline during the SuperBowl. Kelce argued and pushed his coach.  All water under the bridge because they won.

And lastly, why do kickers get a pass. Norwood cost us a SuperBowl.  He failed his biggest moment in his professional career.  Yes Levy, Talley, and Kelly were just as culpable for losing SuperBowl XXV but why does Norwood get a pass? Why should Bass be absolved. He didn't do his job, maybe somebody should have gotten in his grill so he fixes his issues.

Thank you for providing comic relief as frequently as you do.

Be a McDermott fan boy if you want. Others on here agree with me

As for my other points, is the failure to adequately address the OL an unfair criticism?

The only redeeming factor for Epenesa is he is only 25. He had 2.5 sacks in the final ten weeks of the year. Again started the season strong and was a non-factor the rest of the way. He had 1 tackle and no sacks in 2023 playoffs. Terrible decision to bring him back.

I've generally given Beane high marks for his off-season moves.

As he said today, the Bills are worse today after this move. If he thinks Shakir, Kincaid, and Samuel can replace Diggs as he was implying he is insane. But he is lying. He will trade up and draft a WR. That is his MO. He burns picks to move up and get a guy he wants. The only thing left to be seen is how much he gives up and how high he goes up.

It has nothing to do with being a McDermott fan boy and everything to do with you being an incessant whiner. Over and over again, your posts just read like a middle school girl, occasionally you provide a little more depth, but it’s tired.

As for your second part pointing out that the Bills are worse after trading Diggs, as if that’s something that Brandon Beane doesn’t think is true? He said it today in the press conference. You’re choosing to incorrectly read between the lines and then skip real words that came out of the man’s mouth.

Your separate thread about your emotional attachment proves the point.

Our playoff wins haven't depended upon Diggs.   They've depended upon playing QBs like Skylar Thompson, Mason Rudolph, Mac Jones, a 39-year old Rivers in his last game ever, and in the case of the Ravens, a defense that had to defend a team who's top WR was Marquise Brown and whose leading rusher was their QB, otherwise JK Dobbins.  Otherwise we can't win any playoff games.

Holy run on sentence to make something fit your narrative, Batman.

Yes trade top 10 WR and keep busts like Epenesa. Take five years to finally put together an above average OL and then blow it up one year later.

Doesn't matter anyways, until McDermott is gone its all window dressing.

    Your schtick is boring

    Great point!

And how much better can he be expected to play in the playoffs generally speaking than he did in the '21 season.  He essentially played two perfect games.

Unfortunately few of his teammates, definitely not enough of them, show up in the playoffs, particularly on the defensive side.  Consider, if he played phenomenally, which he did, and led us to 36 points in regulation, them what does it say for a D that did the same on the other side in allowing the opponent to post one of its top-3 best games of the season in doing the same.

It's likely be would have won one in '21, it was our own poor and idiotic decision making that undermined that.

Sometimes you are unfairly credited with things that aren't your fault.

People will draw the conclusions that fit their personal team narratives.

I guess I am curious what the narrative would have been in KC had the Bills won in the Divisional Round in 2021.

That they lost because of poor decision making or that Josh Allen is just an elite QB and did elite QB things? The guy on the other sideline is the ONLY other guy in the NFL that can be mentioned in the same breath as Josh, or maybe the other way around, Josh is the only guy that can be mentioned in the same breath as him.

    What's he done?

Well, he's beaten Josh Allen in the playoffs.

His career passer rating is 6 percentage points higher.  6!   He has better completion percentage, yards per attempt, and fewer interceptions.

Other than that, he hasn't done anything.

It’s funny, because Josh is hands down better than Burrow in the playoffs… likes it’s not even close.

Who's their GM?  Did he work for Beane in Buffalo?  Seems like a logical connection.

That’s not where the “Beane loves Panthers” stuff originated.

DeShawn Williams isn’t a career Panther, or McBean Era Panther, or draft pick of Dan Morgan… he’s a journeyman that’s more recognizable for his 3 stints with Denver than anything to do with North or South Carolina, let alone the Carolina Panthers.

    @4merper4mer

so are you saying you want to keep signing guys over the age of 30 and plug them into some of the most physical spots on a football team?

The argument for more DT help isn’t my issue. We need bodies there. My issue is we went from one of the oldest teams in the league last year, to cutting a lot of aged players and being one of the younger teams just by addition by subtraction. And yet here we are getting older again with a lot of these free agents.
    Hollins is over 30

    Jones is over 32

    Morrow is 28

    Williams is 31

Austin Johnson (if he’s even signed I have seen confirmation yet) will be 30 by the time camp starts.

They're one-year deals for depth purposes. The median age of NFL free agents is 28 years old... it is hard to get younger through free agency.

We have given out 5 multiyear deals so far this offseason to players with a median age of 27.6. The median age of all players that we've signed so far is 28.

It's really not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be.

Yeah, these poor, poor coaches making millions of dollars a year getting fired and seemingly finding another coaching job the next day is very unfortunate.........my friggin heart bleeds for them.

Sweats, try a little positivity one time man, you’re bringing down the mood.

Did I say these poor coaches? I just said it’s a weird place to be. Not for nothing, most of the coaches on staff aren’t making millions of dollars. There are plenty of guys in those offices typically making much less than even six figures and undoubtedly feel the things I’m describing above.

  11. Working in professional sports is such a weird place to be. You get hired knowing you're going to get fired and there really isn't anything you can do to stop it.

Your success hinges on so many unpredictable factors, in this case, the performance of 53(ish) individuals that you're required to get to pull in one direction. More often than not, you're getting fired because of a metaphorical angry mob with torches and pitchforks upset with your performance. It can be justified, some other times it is not.

Fans view success as binary - "Win a Super Bowl" or "We Suck". Unfortunately, it's much more nuanced than that, but fans (short for fanatic: a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause) have a hard time acknowledging all of the factors. Realistically, most fans have no clue what really goes into the operation - roster rules, salary cap, official rules, etc. They just look at everything through a very narrow-minded viewpoint of Super Bowl or Bust.

The point being made by Sean McDermott isn't some sort of deflection, it's acknowledging they've objectively had a tremendous amount of success throughout his tenure despite not being crowned Super Bowl Champions. That's because success in the NFL is more of a spectrum as opposed to 0s and 1s like @Ethan in Clevelandwould like to believe.

Everyone's assuming that Milano will be 100% or close to it.  It's concerning that he wasn't able to put any weight on his injured leg for two months.  That's a long time for a reportedly simple break of his tibia.  That's not normal.

It wasn't a simple break of his tibia...

It was a tibial plateau fracture... pretty common for the recovery to be non-weight bearing for 6-12 weeks post op.

Why do we keep signing players coming off knee injuries.  Really is that what this team has been reduced too??  What a waste of money on a guy that tanked in 2023 because of a knee injury in 2022, when he injured his MCL and fractured his knee.  I don't understand Beane thoughts on this,  and his play last year was way below average too with LAC.

Whatever..... This is typical of Beane.

Yeah, what a jackass. Keeps putting out a perennial Division Champion that's a Super Bowl favorite year in and year out.

Stupid ####### that Beane guy is.

I forgot why I had you on block for the last few years and now I remember. You don't understand the most basic level of common sense.

And you do? Someone just laid out all the rookies that McDermott has played and started here... and you don't even reply. You just give them an "X" and keep spewing some bull####.

Yeah and I was hoping the likes of Rapp and Lewis and Morrow would be filled in by those cheap draft picks, not veteran contracts. Obviously the entire depth of the roster isn't going to be just rookies but can't these sorts of signings wait until we know what our draft class looks like?

The flip side of this, is having depth options already on the roster gives you more flexibility on draft day(s). Then it is best man wins.

The team has lost 6 starters - C, WR, FS, SS, Edge, and CB. That is a lot to lose in one season. It doesn't matter if they were expected to be gone or not. Some have a plan to replace and some do not. But if the guys that are gone are no big deal why were they starting on a super bowl contender?

They already replaced CB and C, possibly SS as well.

It seems inevitable that WR is addressed in RD1 or RD2. That leaves an additional edge rusher and FS.

It's not a situation that's "no big deal" but they're in fine shape.

  17. 12 minutes ago, Whkfc said:

I understand we let guys go. How many new starters we got so far?

WR2 will be a new starter, but likely a high pick.

One new starter on the O-Line but two position changes if it's true McGovern will move to OC.

    Two new starting safeties.

    4 total, so we're returning 18/22.
