On ESPN NFL Live they're addressing the question why if Diggs developed a reputation for sideline disagreements in Buffalo would the Texans take a flyer on Diggs?  And the answer was because strong leadership from HC Ryan's and QB CJ Stroud can keep Diggs in line.

My take is why should anyone, coaches, management, other players have to devote valuable time and energy to keeping somebody in line?  They'll professionals. Not children.  But sadly some can't always maintain that level of behavior.

Is the potential to upgrade their offense at the vast of creating potential distractions on and off yhe field? The results will say.

The talking heads are full of it. The real answer is that Diggs will be a good teammate for a couple of years. That seems to have been his MO. So if you can get a player of his caliber for pretty insignificant capital and you know he will be a good for a couple of years then it’s worth doing. He will surely wear out his welcome there as well once the honeymoon is over.

Going to be a good one. Can't wait to hear what he says about Will Clapp.

I’ve been waiting to hear his thoughts on the idea of Shane Buechele dressing as the third qb next year. Finally

Same. Now Diggs has gone they need a Ladd type as well as a vertical guy. My only concern with that is I don't know what you are getting in the vertical category later.... I think you have to take that guy first in all likelihood.

So any shot you can find that deep threat in free agency? DJ Chark, Jalen Guyton, Hardman, MVS…all 4.3 guys. I myself an a big Guyton fan, bot sure if he is all the way back from the ACL. Maybe a Michael Gallup? I know none of those guys are Diggs level players, but they are fast and aside from Hardman are also big.

With the 24th overall pick, the Dallas Cowboys select J.C. Latham, OT, Alabama!

With plenty of holes to fill the biggest need might be replacing Tyron Smith. Latham has provided solid and consistent play starting the last two years for the Crimson Tide and excels at run blocking. He also grades out as a very good pass blocker. Good enough to earn All SEC first team honors.

His versatility will guarantee him a starting spot if he can’t claim the left tackle job with experience at both tackle and guard. Latham should be their guy from day one.

The Green Bay Packers @mrags are on the clock!

I think he is going to be a monster. The question is if he can play LT.

Hilariously, we scored a TD on that first drive out of halftime while Diggs watched from the sidelines. We dialed up a deep shot to him on the first play of the next drive to try and get his head back in the game, but Allen overthrew him.

Wow! See that’s why I like this trade. No more diva wide receivers. Just draft smart young guys who are willing to do whatever and run good routes. Just let Josh distribute.

With the 23rd overall pick, the Minnesota Vikings select Darius Robinson, DT, Missouri.

The Viking have a lot of holes to fill, and spend a lot of their FA on the defensive side of the ball.  Robinson comes in and shores up the defensive line and allows them to add more weapons on offense in this deep draft.  No receiver jumped out of value, so we have time.

The Cowboys @JJGaunaare on the clock

Robinson is a nice fit for what they do defensively. He’s versatile and an interesting guy.

Reposting this because it's going to get lost in the thread:

The Bills kept the issues under wraps for the most part. But anyone who knew someone close to the team was aware of his constant distractions, both in public and behind the scenes.

Yeah that’s crazy, but I am not shocked.

  8. I hold fast to the belief that nothing matters except Josh. He is the key to the team. I like shifting to a Patriots mold of wide receiver, guys who run precise routes who Brady didn’t have to force the ball to. No true number 1. Ideally your QB can drop back, read the defense and throw the ball to the open guy, and trust that those guys will be where they are supposed to be. That isn’t Gabe Davis. And Josh had some pressure on him to force the ball to Diggs. Those guys are now gone. This is a good shift.

Now this is obviously a downgrade in talent, but in the long run we may be better off. In my mind Dalton Kincaid should be the number 1 target ala Gronk with the Pats. 100% they need to draft two guys early imo.

It’s ok to be upset about losing Diggs. It is also ok to say good riddance. Both groups are right. They gave it 4 years and it didn’t work out. It’s also ok to get emotional about it, but that’s kind of a waste of time. Now everyone gets to see what Diggs would like in the Shanahan style offense. Houston will be good as long as Stroud doesn’t feel forced to feed Diggs. He’s basically the number 3 there.

Finally, in terms of compensation, obviously it isn’t good. But the market dictates that and it just kind of is what it is. We don’t know exactly what was going on behind closed doors, but for Beane to eat 30 million of dead cap, one must assume it was at the point of no return.

It’s a new beginning and as long as we have Josh, we have a chance.

  9. I’m into Brian Thomas, Keon Coleman and Leggette.

Thomas is always behind the defense and I love the contested catches. Coleman is a huge playmaker and is slowly becoming one of my favorites. Leggette is a freak. Those three guys I think really complement the roster and provide a guy who is very different from what we have.

I would not be upset with Worthy, Mitchell or Franklin. Mitchell actually reminds me of Diggs. My gut says they really like Franklin. Honestly we are in a position for a really nice upgrade. I would be happy with any of these 6 guys, assuning MHJ, Nabers, and Odunze are gone.

There is zero evidence the Denver is tanking.  It’s simply not a thing in the NFL, especially at this stage of the season.

    They lost their Center.

    They traded Jeudy.

    They lost Simmons.

    They have no money.

They have no QB - they aren’t picking Nix or Penix at 12 - maybe Rattler in RD 3.

    No one plays to lose.

But Payton knows this team needs a rebuild after the Wilson debacle.

They will be picking in the top 3 in 2025.

Now, if Daniels falls to them - maybe they do that at 12.  Idk.

They actually have a pretty good roster. Their defense is very good and their offense has receivers, an RB and a really good line outside of the center spot….Althought I think both Powers and McGlichnchey, message board targets last year are both pretty terrible and very overrated. They don’t have a QB obviously and that is a huge problem. But I think they are far from the worst team in the league. They are an 8-9 type group imo. I don’t think Stidham is the guy, but I could see him starting a year as a bridge. Now if they trade Cortland Sutton and sign Nate Peterman or something, they arw tanking.

I do think Sean Payton wants to prove he can win without Brees, just like BB tried to do in NE. And that’s why Stidham will get a shot. These guys are about ego.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Pats are going to want JD. I think they'll see him as an elusive moving threat that can somewhat throw the ball with accuracy, however, he'll be able to scramble and keep plays alive.....something the Pats will sorely need to keep up in the AFCEast with our Bills.

    Just a gut feeling....

I remember whispers that they wanted Lamar a few years ago. I know it’s a different regime in some ways, but it makes a lot of sense

While I agree that Daniels won't last this long and have stated my belief that he'll go #2 overall...

A quarterback that the experts all guarantee us will go high ends up falling on draft day just about every single year. It happens constantly. I'd bet on the faller being Maye instead of Daniels, but still...the notion of a highly touted QB prospect falling down the board really isn't all that farfetched. There are piles of precedent for it.

100% agree with this take. For our mock draft all the QBs pretty much went where QBs are gonna go, just Daniels was the one that dropped in this instance. I am not sure that is going to happen but QBs goin 1-2-3 and the Vikings getting the 4th is probably what will happen (though Vikings will probably trade up). The draft is still on track.

Talent wise, this would be a great pic and I get why you made it.  However, I just have a hard time accepting the Titans will go WR here anymore after spending big on Ridley.  There is a lot of talent in this spot at major areas of need for them and Titans aren’t a team in position to make luxury pick here IMHO.

In fact, my personal feeling is that I think they spent the money on Ridley so they could go another direction here in the draft.

Obviously he is worthy of this selection, just don’t see it anymore after signing Ridley.

But that’s just my 2 cents, who knows Titans may see it different and want to stack the WR room.

I think if Alt is gone, it’s either gonna be WR or edge. Hopkins has just the one year left so this is a long term play. I don’t think Latham is the choice here. For me it was between Nabers or Turner and I just think Nabers is the better prospect.

Let me fire up a donut and a cup of coffee and I'll make my pick shortly.

East coaster but a huge Mariners fans and I feel it on the backend trying to watch games at 11pm here. I’m usually sleeping by the 5th inning.

Simms's takedown of Maye on yesterday's podcast was merciless...and he said that his opinion is not an outlier in NFL circles...he said the Josh Allen comparisons are a joke.

Allen is a unicorn! I’m not sure if there will ever be anyone like him.

The notion that Jayden Daniels is still on the board at this point (and Drake Maye is not) is kind of a joke...

In reality I think someone would have traded up at this point, but it’s tough to pull off trades with the draft flying and people having lives.

I do think it’s realistic that this drop will happen to one of the those 4 guys, but I think it is more likely to happen to Maye or McCarthy. JJ is the wildcard here because it seemed like he was a 2nd rounder and now all of a sudden people are talking about him in the top 5. I’m not sure I buy it.

But if you believe in your ability to develop a QB, Maye in many ways is the prototype. Whether you like Maye or not, I’d bet there are 10-15 GMs who have him ahead of Daniels and there are probably like 5 guys who have him 1 ahead of Williams. It’s a pick your flavor situation imo. It happens all the time.

I might add I was having this same debate on Herbert with people on the board a couple of years ago. He was inconsistent, but I was buying that piece of clay and I still think he’s the best QB in that class. Maye isn’t Herbert, but he has similar traits.
