I'm expecting surprises. Did we not learn anything last year? Sure Ed may have a good year, but in all likelihood someone will pay him stupid money next year.

I think Beane will take advantage of that during the draft....via trades. Let me dream a little....

    rd.1.pick 27  Calijah Kancey DT

rd.2  Trade  Oliver to his hometown Houston for 33, 73 and 188. We could throw in a late 2024 if need be.

    rd.2 pick 33 Jack Campbell

Trade: 59, 91 and 205 to Seattle for no. 37

rd. 2 Steve Avila (played C 2021, G 2022 and has played at both G spots)

rd.3 pick 73 Isaiah Foskey Edge   He can be listed and lined up at OLB while providing pass rush and or used at DE depending on Von's near and distant future.

    rd.4 pick 130 BPA

    rd.5 pick 137 BPA

    rd.6 pick 188 BPA

I may have screwed up somewhere but all the trades were to teams with 2 picks in said rds. Flame away

You're assuming that hometown Houston will take hometown Ed's $10million+ 1 year salary off our hands and give us a 2nd, 3rd and 6th in return? In a dream world, sure, but why? When they can just wait out the 2023-2024 year, sign him to a mega contract if they like him so much and surrender zero draft assets to acquire him? Unfortunately, not happening.

If this was the case, why wouldn't we have just paid Edmunds?

He's a much more instinctive and equally talented football player. He's a player you break the bank for; Tremaine wasn't.

It would be a beautiful thing to have that acquisition, but that’s just not the reality of the cap situation.

One viable way to make it work would be to make Oliver part of the deal. His $10+ million last year then comes off the books and is replaced by D. White's which would certainly be over that but Beane could make it work.

I saw this earlier and thought his take was completely backwards.  Kupp is their offense.  Diggs is a part of a whole (granted a big part) but with the emergence of Gabe and Knox, I think there is going to be more distribution of the ball to other places other than Diggs (This doesn't even add the factors of Mckenzie, Crowder and the RBs).

Don't forget about Allen Robinson. They are less one-dimensional than you may think.

    Josh Allen.

Keenum looked really good on Saturday.

Now's the time to sell high on #17. Just ask that guy that called into WGR after the game. :D

I laughed so hard listening to that WGR broadcast that I spit out the beer I was drinking. The caller was totally serious. "Casey Kasem (yep, he confused our 2nd string QB with the disc jockey lol) looked amazing, 16-18 for 190+ yards...We could get a boatload of #1 draft choices for Josh Allen. What do you say?" Nate Geary's reaction was also classic: "I'd say you're crazy"

Hysterical! Saw that on ESPN over and over and over again. What a klutz and an even poorer GM and sports analyst.

I don't think he understands the concept of high floor, low ceiling like Alex Smith.

Especially when people get to see the difference between him and Josh Allen twice a year. And let's be honest, it's a stark difference in physical talent. Jones is Clark Kent to Allen's Superman and there is no phone booth on the sidelines or locker room for Jones to go in to transform.

Couple this with the disaster that will be Patricia and Judge acting as defacto OCs this year and lack of skill position talent still and I find it hard to see how Jones has a better year than he did last year under McDaniels who while potentially being a total douchebag and poor HC, is a pretty damn good OC.

He is what he is. A good game manager that doesn't have the physical ability to force teams to respect him the way they do Allen or Mahomes or Herbert.

Not saying he can't have a long career and be very successful during the regular season, he can. Chiefs had the best record in the NFL over the near decade that Smith was their QB in the regular season. But we all saw how his lack of physical ability was exposed during the playoffs. Reid didn't win the Super Bowl until Mahomes was his QB.

Sure he might have some limited success early on in the playoffs but unless he has an unbelievable team surrounding him like the 2000 Ravens or Broncos had with Peyton Manning, they won't be winning the SB because of him.

This. Pure gold. Beautifully written and the reason Bills mafia has to be super optimistic vis-a-vis our old nemesis.

Not really. It was pretty clear he meant we are getting the Redskins version of Bruce.

The Von signing was perfect in so many ways. 1) He’s still a force, he can finish 2) We’ve got young guys who need to develop and Von will be instrumental in teaching them 3) His snaps will definitely be limited in the regular season and then unleashed in the playoffs. This is a no brainer and will allow the young guys to develop and Von to extend is career. If we’ve got an important game or want to continue to beat down the Pats*, his snap count will skyrocket in that particular game.

I’d love to see Jerry back on a minimum contract to man that RDE spot. Not sure that’s gonna happen because there are only so many snaps to go around and we’ve got 2-3 young DEs who need to start playing more.

You make three great points. I would add a 4th: we didn't give up ANY precious assets to get him (Vs. Los Angeles who gave up a 2nd and 3rd round draft picks for what ended up being a 2 month rental. A LOT to like here.

You saying that would like me saying to you when Allen was a rookie “a typical bust QB pick by your Bills. Same old Bills” point being you have no more clue how good Jones will be than anyone did when Allen was meh to bad year one. So please stop with your less than expert analysis of him.

Bills fan living in Patriots nation for the last two decades. How's that for bad timing?  Anyway, I completely agree with your post as it's way too early to cast a definitive judgement about Mac Jones. If anything is true, Jones is showing more promise as a rookie than Josh did his first year even if he doesn't possess his raw physical talent. As a Bills fan, I'm beyond thrilled Josh has evolved into this superstar franchise QB that we all coveted but to say I saw THIS kind of greatness coming from him would be a lie.

Ok… we are still in front but the Cheaters keep on winning week by week.. four in a row now. We have the first offense and the first defense, New England is third in both categories.
It seem that they are building their confidence game after game… i just want to know if you are worried about them, if you consider them a real threat to win the AFCE and maybe the AFC also.

Rabid, lifetime Bills fan and Orchard Park native here who has lived the last 21 years in Patriots nation. No one hates the Cheatriots more than I so I hate to admit it but every week they look more and more like the TB12 team of the last two decades. They don't beat themselves. I'm emotionally scarred from recent history and while clearly Jones isn't Brady yet, this team is ascending and has me worried.

I placed the Packers and my reason is simple.  They don’t normally get in these races, but Rodgers whined so much in the off season they haven’t used a 1st Ed pick in a decade on a WR.  They have Adams, but this would be a place I can see and the Packs may be going all out to keep Rodgers.

If not I can see the Raiders with losing Ruggs, and the Saints given no one expected them to only have two losses at this point.  They are the masters of moving cap around to keep people.

I fear it will be the Cheatriots. They have two decent TEs and a bunch of average WRs. Beckham would immediately become their #1.
