Interesting draft Dawg.  But if the Bills pass on AD Mitchell, a brick might go through my TV.

Not from me. He is the one guy I hope they steer clear from in round 1. Motivation issues. Not coachable. Gives up on plays, even plays he is targeted. Not dynamic with the ball in his hands. Plays slower than his 40 time. The weird stuff about diabetes and how he handles it coming out.

I do not like what I hear about him, regardless of how talented he is physically. He doesn't sound like a guy the Bills would be high on, anyway. I'd let some other team find out about him. There are plenty of other talented receivers.

  2. I wouldn't do it for anything. Do you know how difficult it is to get a top 3 QB? Guys like Josh Allen don't come around very often. I don't care how many 1st round picks you have. You are not likely to get a QB as good as him.

And yet again, oh so close, but it was a shoot and a miss........franchises are not going to trade their best asset, im sure we can agree on that, however, i can guarantee you that they have at least considered it. That is called Business 101, son......(i'll dumb it down a little here)....it's called asset vs. acquisition.

Every team in the league has gone through the scenario of the "do the gains exceed the need". Every franchise has considered a trade of their best asset in terms of gain from the deal.......none ever do it, as it is franchise suicide, however, in order for them to do their due diligence, every possible scenario is on the table.

I guarantee you they have NOT considered it. Because they aren't stupid. Beane said he would trade himself first. He knows that there is no chance of that happening.

Serious question - would Jewish commentators and media personnel then refer to him instead as "AD"  or "Mitchell"?

Adonai is already a substitute for the name of God. They shouldn't have any issue using the word, unless they view it as offensive as a name? I'm not sure.

Adonai is actually not the formal name of God that the Jewish faith refuses to say, out of respect for His name. Adonai is actually the name for the Lord that the Jewish faith substitutes for the name revealed to Moses at the burning bush. What we have in the book of Exodus is simply the Hebrew letters that transliterate as YHWH (often anglicized as Yahweh, but we literally aren't sure how it would have been pronounced as the vowel points have been lost to time). Another word, Jehovah, was the rough mixing of the consonants from YHWH (JHVH) and the vowels from Adonai. Jehovah is not a "real" word but has been used as the "name" of the Lord.

Y'all are all good using Adonai.

    Beat me to it.

I’ve often thought this was gravely misunderstood. You’re not supposed to take/use the Lord’s name in vain. It doesn’t say that you cannot say his name. So you are not supposed to use the Lord to swear/promise/threaten anyone, as if you have some authority over what God does or doesn’t do. Nor are you to tempt the Lord to do anything. It’s perfectly fine however to say his name in worship and adoration.

They view it differently in Judaism. They do not use the name of God except very rarely, if at all. They keep the name sacred. They often don't even write it.

Having been raised in the Jewish faith this name never fails to crack me up.  "Adonai" is Hebrew for "God" and religious Jews are so careful of observing the commandment of not taking God's name in vain, they actually won't say this word unless engaged in formal prayer.  In other cases they substitute the word Hashem which means "the name."

I can't wait until he catches a Hail Mary pass.

It actually means "My Lord" and is already said in place of the name of God which is "Yahweh".

  6. Josh Allen.

I'm only kidding a little bit. The media was dunking on him after his first couple of years. Many predicted he would be a bust and they focused on his relatively poor stats to point to.

Then he had his breakout year in 2020.

For those paying attention, Josh Allen had amazing flashes all through his first couple of years, even though his stats weren't always reflective of his clear talent.

This prediction from Mel Kiper is always fun. He gets laughed out of the room for predicting Josh Allen would be the best QB in the AFC East in 5 years (after his rookie season):

  7. There are teams better at it than others, though. It isn't just completely random.

I think it is more that there are so many factors that impact the ability of a player to succeed in the NFL, only a few of which are even in their control. A lot of it comes down to their ability, but also their fit with coaches and scheme, the play of players around them, injuries, etc.

Every player enters the league with a deck stacked against them, with boundless talent that they are asked to compete against first on their own team for a spot to play, then against others. And if they don't show an immediate ability to compete against players who all have much more experience than they do, they are quickly given up on, especially by short sighted coaches and GM's fighting for their own jobs.

Agreed. I considered myself a pretty big NFL fan until I saw this post and a few reasonably thought out replies to it.

Yeah, there are guys here who do full draft boards, watch film on all these guys, and do full 7 round mock drafts, etc.

I don't know where they get the time (or how they stay married), but their insight can be valuable.

I took Legette for the Commanders because I think the guy is gonna be a beast. I also think the style of offense Kingsbury wants to run warrants the selection. Lastly, I took Legette to let those who were hoping to say "I told you so" about the trade back bask in their utter disappointment. So they would cuss at the monitor or the screen in their hands because the team in front of the Bills took who many of them were hoping to get.

Now people have to reason within themselves and come up with an explanation as to why they believe in Franklin. It's kind of comical actually. This isn't knocking those who truly believe in Franklin, that he could be a difference maker. This is a dig at those now trying to act like he would be perfect for this team due to nothing other than a number on a selection card.

P.S. ~ I voted to take Franklin here as well, and don't think the perceived sub-par Combine outweighs what you see from him on the game tape. But all of you know, because I have said it time and time again, Legette is my guy.

    You!

Actually, I think it is completely reasonable that he will be gone if we trade down that far. I'd rather trade down with Arizona. Legette is more likely to be there if we trade down. Trading down into the 40's is way too risky.

Well he is right about his uncle being killed by the CIA... just saying.

Yeah, I guess I'd want to look into his claims before outright laughing at him for it. Maybe he's right. I have no idea.

That being said, Rodgers is always going on about something. He turned into a big weirdo. And I just don't think he is that great a QB anymore. He certainly doesn't seem to be focusing on football much, but it is the offseason, I suppose.

  11. I've never liked him as a player. I thought he was talented but played outside of the scheme and caused problems. And he got injured all the time. He'd show up for a random game and look dominant only to disappear for the rest of the year, all while being horrible at stopping the run.

I was so happy we didn't re-sign him the first time and I'm happy we didn't re-sign him this off season, too.

But, I wish him the best. I actually think he could be a difference maker on a bad team like the Giants if he stays healthy and plays a little more disciplined. He was too inconsistent to rely on for us.

  12. I'll be comfortable with them bringing in young receivers and rolling with them. Does that mean there will be growing pains? Probably. But I am comfortable with that. Draft a guy high. Draft a guy later, too, then roll with the rookies, Samuel, Shakir, and whoever else we have. Get the rookies playing time and let them work through the mistakes.

That means the position is not going to be ideal this year, but it wasn't last year either. Diggs had his huge drop off. Davis was invisible in most games. Harty and Sherfield were irrelevant. Only Shakir was consistent down the stretch, and he is still here and has another year under his belt.

    Good luck with 1a

Nearly every receiver to come through here had their best seasons with Josh throwing them the ball, so why do you doubt that he elevates them?

Top 32 WR. In other words, are their teams thrilled with the production they got with their 1st round / 2nd round pick? With each of those players, I’m not sure I’d agree that their teams are thrilled … as they weren’t (or likely won’t be) re-signed.

Ok, so what did you look at to determine what a top 32 WR is? Yards and TD's?
