12/1/2022 - NFL Week #13 - Bills at Pats* - Post game thread
Success replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was so hard against New England, for so long. I used to dread playing them, because losing was basically inevitable. They were so much better, and some games, there was literally nothing we could do. Watching the tables turn like this has been good for my soul. To see a coach as great as Belichick get frustrated on the sideline, knowing that he can't stop what's happening. It's joyful. -
We have a run game! At long last! I love how Cook is developing. He has really good instincts out there - and what a burst when he spots a hole.

This game, the playoff game, the 2nd regular season game last year - it's exactly what the Pats used to do to the Bills. Just being a better team, marching down the field, scoring - and there is nothing the other team can do about it. That game was so much more dominant than the score indicated. We doubled the TOP. The greatest coach of all time didn't have a single answer. Feels good, man.- 581 replies

Thanks, PatsFanNH. We used to lose like that EVERY YEAR - where there was simply nothing we could do. It's good healing for us Bills fans to be on the other side of that for the past few years. -

They have to figure out a way to extend Edmunds. We're such a different team w/ him in there. -

Watching that postgame w/ JA is so cool. So many QB's give scripted answers - he's just so genuine & easy to like. Love that he's our QB. -

Someone said it earlier - Dane is better in press, and he's a better tackler. They're thinking about who Jones has as targets, imo. One thing I'm pretty sure of: this coaching staff knows what it's doing. They made this decision for a reason. My own guess is that it's more scheme & match-ups than anything significant about Elam as a player. -

Not having Mills is big for them. We really can't complain about injuries tonight - it's pretty even. -

I'll say this for the coaching staff - they keep us on our toes! Never a dull moment. -

Dane Jackson is getting a little bit too much negativity here. He's had some bad games LATELY, but has also played pretty exceptionally at times, and had some great games for us. -

Something to remember: we are a MUCH better team than the team we face tonight. We've beaten better teams, have better players overall, and have a QB who isn't even on the same planet as their QB. They do have one of the best coaches of all time. But as we saw in the playoffs, that doesn't amount to much when there is a big talent differential. This 100% should be a game that we win. -

I mean, it's gotta be. He's very good when healthy. Shocked by the announcement - but trust the Bills coaches to make the right calls on this. They know more than we do. -

We have turned into an outstanding December team the past 2 years. It's been great to see - the teams who can master this month are usually the ones that go deep into the playoffs. -
Best thing for the playoffs. We have other guys who can step in for the next slate of regular season games, and it will help depth to give a few guys more experience.

This is when Mac Jones started to decline last year. Cold & windy isn't his thing. He had his best game as a pro against the Vikes last week. If you watched that game, his pocket was clean for most of the passing plays. Contain Stevenson as much as possible, and get pressure on Jones, and this should be a win. -
I think Brady and a lot of fans there hated it - but New England was smart to make the line the top priority (over getting top end WR talent). When you have a great QB, protecting him & giving him time is paramount. It makes all the difference. That's why Brady was able to succeed w/ mainly middlin' WR corps, outside of a few years where they had players like Moss.

For 20 years, this game was like a trip to the dentist. Inevitable discomfort, something that you just couldn't avoid & had to just get through. It's more fun now. Still have some butterflies, though. -
Man, every other comment on the Pats boards is a variation of "we have 6 Super Bowls and they don't." They really made a seamless transition to being Yankees fans, which is some fun irony.
-
Was it last season that our O-line was pretty bad most of the season, but then did a 180 in December & the playoffs? Hope they can pull that off again.

It's actually hard to imagine starting 0-3 in the division with what IS the best team in the division. Things that are hard to imagine usually don't happen. Therefore, I believe the Bills will win.
-
Without Harris, the game is ALL about stopping Stevenson. He's a great runner, and also one of the most frequent targets for Jones. Limit his yards and impact, and we might get to enjoy another laugher.

You don't put a Christmas tree in "Jaws" and then call it a Christmas movie. Perhaps a roundabout way of saying that no - Die Hard is absolutely NOT a Christmas movie. I have no idea why this has become a thing.

How has the AFC East suddenly become the best division in football?
Success replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills can take the Pats out of that equation on Thursday. They could still potentially make the playoffs w/ a loss - but I wouldn't bet on it w/ the schedule they have to close the season. The Jets will probably end up borderline, as well. They have built a good team w/ quite a bit of talent, and Saleh has really changed the culture - but you can only get so far w/ their QB situation. They'll be more formidable in the years ahead, imo. Miami will end up w/ a WC for sure, but I don't see them taking the division. But yeah - the strength of the division is a surprise. We all expected this from the AFCW.
