Nice guess, but No.  Here's another clue - he took a role based on a amusement ride and made the character iconic.

Someone from Jurassic Park  but don't know really.

The other one I had to look... surprised is still around.

No, but it was note for note. Exactly They even had this thing where they showed a turntable and made a big production of putting the album on it, playing up that it is the Hotel California tour. Every song on the album in order. Then the intermission, then more live music with the typical concert riffs.

I've heard this many times about them... why not just stay at the house and crank it out into the backyard.

Guy I know works in security in Tampa for concerts. Said when he did the Eagles show they were instructed to never directly look at any of the members of the group. And this was back in the tunnels and hallways. Kind of dickish if you asked me.

Yet there is, from the sounds of it, the threat of imminent death. THAT is what I was responding to. Drinking soda is bad for you long term. The pufferfish sounds more like Russian roulette. I’d need to know more before I could take a comfortable stance there. NOT that I wouldn’t try it, but I’d need to know more.

Haven't had any pop in at least 10 years...

Referring to the video above “how to eat pufferfish and not die”.  My salmon and cauliflower tonight did not require specific instructions to survive the night. If I needed a specific knowledge to survive, it just might have been tilapia and green beens!

Ahh.. I didnt watch the vid. Tilapia is a garbage fish, I won't eat it. If it isn't certified wild caught I won't eat any fish. The farmed crap from random countries is just that... crap.

If I have several good options, the one that just might kill me would be the first one crossed off the list. Maybe that’s just me?

I’m sure it can be done, and done well. I just don’t see the point.....but I admit to very limited knowledge here. Enjoy (or not) in good health, my friends!

Not sure what you mean by that.

I love seafood, but I might rather roll the dice on some frozen clam strips. Just one conservative guys opinion.

I'm the same... but, stamped out ray wings are pretty tasty for sure. Puffers are a pain in the ass just like ladyfish... not worth it to me anyways. Too many no hassle good fish to eat out there to even want to deal with a puffer.

No, the ‘Magic Carpet / Castle’ was its own building, fairly close to the park’s main entrance at Ridgeway Rd. / Erie Rd., navigated on foot. Laff in the Dark was further south and east, tucked into the southeast part of the park, close to Ridgeway Rd.  It was a ride where passengers were in cars in a funhouse setting.

    You triggered a nerve...

I got them mixed up, thanks for the clarification.

Vandalism and wear turned the ‘Magic Carpet’ into the ‘Magic Palace’.  When someone would slice the carpet, it would allow fingers and other parts to be drawn in and pinched, eventually it was decided to remove the rug and have people schlep down the stairs.

Was this attached to the Laff in the Dark? Or, wherever the air vents came up?

Yup... But when they max out the daily allotments....You're still standing in line with the smelly masses.  Sucks if you pick a slow day... They got your extra $$$$.

I guess it's like taking the rental car company's insurance rather than using yours.  Great if if you get in wreck.  POOF! If you don't.

It's because you paid as you went.  Tickets for ride.  Notice that model would change in late 1970s.

Parks were also dumpy back then.  We'd bring a cooler and drag it.  Try THAT today.  They want you buying their food.  Darien, you can pack your own lunch... But stay in parking lot, old shelters next to the row of dumpsters.

I worked at Darien as a summer job in the mid 70's when school was off. All they had then were paddle boats and the new waterslide. My job was waterslide attendant... sat at the top and told people when to go or when to wait. The puss I extracted from that gig was incredible... lowest paying job ever/best job I ever had. I still have my employee manual. Amazing how that place turned into something completely different.

One of the reasons I never liked amusement parks or roller coasters was because of the wait. I waited almost 2 hours at Darrien Lake for the superman rise, my buddy said we should have done it first cause there was no one there when we got there when the park opened. We went to Canada's Wonderland a last year and I was fine with taking the kids on the rides in the Peanuts themed area cause there were no waits, seeing the lines for other rides I wouldn't want to waste my time standing around for an hour + for a couple minute ride.

I get what you are saying... I wouldn't wait 2 hours for a ride either. But, and maybe I'm dreaming here... the lines at Crystal Beach never seemed that long. I doubt my old man would have put up with it either. As kids the wait was kind of the lead up to the thrill of the ride.

Wife has always said that having babies did something to her internals and she no longer rides coasters...and we were both huge coaster fans , i still am!

That all started with the Comet..with free ride tickets for Loblaws! Along with hockey sticker books!

The real question is who else grew up in or near the Falls and used to beg their dad to go to Pages Whistle Pig so you could get one of the rides there. My Pops never, and i do mean NEVER, would pay "those outrages prices for a hotdog..let alone the dollar a ride cost"....so I never once ate at or rode at the Whistle Pig..scarred for life i am!!!!

I didn't grow up near the Falls (Lancaster) but I have never heard of this place... would think I'd at least heard the name but no. Was it like Glen Park?

Every year we'd go here for the 4th of July weekend... hit the park, watch the fireworks over the lake, ... they had some place across the road called Fairyland Forest. The Blue Streak is an awesome coaster and is still up and running strong. Not that far a drive from WNY really.

Loved the Comet as a kid, and just being at Crystal Beach in general. The yellow wooden coaster was cool too. Didn't like the Wild Mouse, thought I would fly out. Saw someone throw up on their own face riding the Rotor when the floor dropped away. The Scrambler was fun, but don't get squashed. We would always go through the big fun house last before leaving the park. The Magic Palace or something like that. At the end you would ride down this big carpeted belt and exit the building.

As teenagers we hung out at cottages on Bay and Crystal Beach. Lots of good times.

Is this the one kind of by the Comet where the attendant actually had a water hose to wash away the puke?

Should I  be saying this?  Statue limitations up?

My best friend's friend from college... His family had a beach house right next to the park.  After they closed in 1989... We got liquored up and went comando... Snuck in.  Got a few choice things... Got into: "Laff in the Dark" ride... Few different things there... Like an ape face relief plaque.

Boy... Security sucked in those days?  What would they do to us?  Deport us? Pre-passport days.

Very cool... would have probably done the same in that proximity.

There was a bullet ride at Crystal Beach that my sister and I decided we wanted to go on when we were about 7 and 8.  I recall the attendant being skeptical, but allowing us on.

Somehow, our seatbelts were never fastened and we ended up smushed and screaming at the bottom of the bullet head.

Guy stopped the ride after a turn or two, we got off crying, and were scarred for life. ? Good times.

Now about those great candy suckers...

What was the Bullet ride? Have no recollection of that one. Do remember the suckers though.
