Though he obviously is revered for his signature calls, it was the way he called the game between them that was exceptional. He was a true radio guy in that sense. You could literally picture the play in your mind. He was that good.

I only watch NFL Matchup, some 30/30 and live sports. Everything is is just noise. If I wanted to be yelled at all day I would have stayed married.

Idk know if anyone remembers NFL 94. It had Montana on the cover. We played the hell out of that game along with NHL 94.
One fun feature was the play by play guy that we called "Bourbon Bob" who would say such things as "It’s 1st & 10 from the 99 yard line." Lol.

Problem is that he's lived in the Bay Area for so long, and I doubt he would come back. Before the 49'ers, he used to broadcast for the Oakland Raiders & Golden State Warriors.
Papa is not only the best in the league, he's an all-time great. I pause mt DVR and sync him up through Sirius when the 49'ers are on.

Speaking of ducting, and I'm not sure it was the cause of this, but years ago I got the home Lakers broadcast of a playoff game in Williamsville. It was around dusk and I lived near powerlines. It was on a portable radio. KFI was the station I believe. It lasted maybe 30 minutes. Wild.
