The comments on this thread are nuts
Why wouldn’t they use Francis Scott Key? Has anyone said they are changing the name?- 1

Philippine, but owned by a Japanese company that's largest shareholder is Berkshire.
its going to be interesting to see what failures caused this.
Not the first time we have seen issues with these ships. at first, my mind went right to "evergreen"
Especially odd that it had just left port. It was like 30 minutes into a 27 day journey.- 2

RIP and condolences.
prayers for the emergency responders.
the only positive is the fact it happened in the middle of the night.
At least Berkshire Hathaway (owners of Mitsui and Co.) have deep pockets.
Honest question. Can a Ship be hacked? Power killed? I would imagine these floating cities have triple redundant systems in place.
Reports are that people saw lights flickering on and off, indicating the emergency generators were at least trying to kick on.
It wasn’t a U.S. ship, I think it was en route to Sri Lanka

This is dumb. So is Karen (for short) saying that ISIS feels compelled to admit responsibility because Ukraine is being blamed? Or that ISIS is lying and taking blame for the attack when it was really Ukraine? Because ISIS is on Ukraine's side?
The point is, ISIS is hanging up a big “we did it lol” sign and weirdo anti-Ukraine types are ignoring it in favor of insane conspiracy theories- 1

It’s unusual for Kansas City to botch a situation like this

How you know for certain that Ukraine involvement remains a possibility.
ISIS already claimed it.
You don't have special knowledge.
You're not some kind of muckraking journalist.
You're an insipid conspiracy nut.

Didn't ISIS claim responsibility?
Yes and both US and Russian intel have put them as the culprits.- 1

My concern is that instead of putting in safeguards for all social media companies to prevent this kind of stuff (could even use the EU’s GDPR as a template), they just targeted TikTok.
Seems like a big win for Meta, Alphabet, etc. to have the government eliminate a competitor.
Better than nothing but definitely not ideal.
For me it’s a matter of having congressional oversight, like when we took Facebook to court a few years back -
I’m surprised more people here aren’t in favor of the bill. I’m 100% for it. Giving the CCP the data of millions of Americans while using the app to push their propaganda is unacceptable.

So the idiot MTGs and Boeberts (and yes, their orange master) get their comeuppance. First Ken Buck shanks Boebert, now Gallagher (a true, not MAGA conservative and one of our best in Congress) gets his revenge.
Maybe try, umm, governing instead of making a damn fool of yourself?
Republicans aren’t politicians anymore, they’re crybabies throwing tantrums. It’s blatantly obvious they have no interest in actually governing anything.
Oh well, another step towards a Dem majority again!

Rats fleeing the Trump MAGA ship.

If Jesse Kelly doesn’t like it, he should just leave. Thats what us liberals were told for years.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please do this! One Speaker Jeffries coming up
Worthless, pathetic, scumbag party. The embarrassment of the world. I’m ashamed that these people have power.

Yeah corporate ownership is gonna be so much better 🤮
Greed isn't exclusive to billionaires. It's in all of us. Like individuals buying up season tickets with the sole intent of reselling them for profit driving up prices for true fans to attend games.
The corporate ownership groups have more money -
Owners are the worst people ever. I’m sort of glad the era of the single owner is coming to an end.

DeSean Jackson made a good career out of being a burner. I think Henry Ruggs would have been a stud if he wasn’t a complete psychopath
