  1. My son and I drive up every year for the last home game from NC.  Know the terrible events of Monday has cast shadow over pending schedule and didn't see post for upcoming game.  If the TBD gang is going to be in front at Hammer's would love to be able to return this year with our annual donation of NC Pulled Pork BBQ sliders for the other TBD attendees.

Hopefully see some this weekend those we don't wishing you all the best for 2023.

Why do we care about the Jets game by game predictions?

Uh ... maybe because they're in our division ... I haven't had chance to look at their schedule and always like to see (granted similar non conf opponents)  ... plus ala below's comment .. and to be clear not doing this with non division team schedules, but nice to benchmark where other division teams may end up after regular season concludes.

This is a laughable homer piece.

Agreed ... 7-9 I don't see ... I just don't think Gase is that strong ... sign me up for the "under".

Kroft isn't easily terminable. The revised deal they did with him makes him pretty much a lock I think and equally an almost certainty to be gone after this year. The voided the final year and moved guarantees to this year so he saves them $400,000 if cut but counts $5m dead money on the cap.

I agree with the OP on tight end. It is Knox and Kroft then a battle for 1 or 2 remaining spots.

Gunner ... answer me this .. I know not your call but why carry 4 TE's on roster ... I get 3 TE sets but damn .. can't we line up a G or something in that set vs. carrying a TE .. I don't recall Smith as a Special Teams ace last year and believe he had more penalties than catches..  It just befuddles me as to why we carry 4 when we can backfill other positions and run a bigger jumbo package .... or put TE #4 on the practice squad.

did one of these composite threads last year just to have everything together in one place with links to the other bits dotted around the board so that it is easy to find. It was reasonably popular with folk and I hope the mods will indulge me again in posting this year.

THAT's WHAT I'm TALKIN' ABOUT ... .YOU ROCK GUNNER ... and DAMN RIGHT I'M YELLING WITH MY KEYBOARD ... THIS GUY is AWESOME!!!!  ?

    You are the Man!!!

I don't know that I have any "hot takes." Everything I think about the class is based on hours of watching these guys here are a fee of my less commonly held views though.

    1. This is not actually a great draft class. There isn't a huge number of studs at the top and beyond wide receiver I don't actually think it is very deep. Not sure how many starters are coming from beyond the 2nd round.

    2. CJ Henderson is not that good. Too many mental mistakes for me to buy into him.

    3. Denzel Mims will make next to no impact as a rookie. Sloppy technique in every way.

Wow Bill ... I respect your opinion greatly and time you put in  ... you might actually make me not watch Day 3 based on above ...woof

Also saw you posted QB thread .. don't you usually do a 1st round mock?  Or did I miss it?

I don’t love PFF, especially their o-line grades, but do you have this year’s grades on hand as a comparison?

And John Miller is one the worst offensive linemen I’ve ever had the displeasure to watch. Like Colin Brown level terrible.

    https://billswire.usatoday.com/2020/01/03/buffalo-bills-offensive-line-ranking-pro-football-focus-dion-dawkins/

In PFF’s final overall offensive line rankings following the 2019 regular season, the Bills clocked in at No. 21.

Here’s how PFF broke down the Bills’ offensive line:

The Bills invested in their offensive line this offseason between free agency and the draft, and we’ve seen improvement from the unit over last season. Those additions along the line, combined with an emphasis on the short passing game and a resulting quicker release from Josh Allen, has lowered the signal-caller’s pressure rate roughly seven percentage points from where it was last season. The Bills’ top pass blocker has been Dion Dawkins with a 76.4 pass-blocking grade.

Overall, Dawkins was the Bills’ best offensive lineman via PFF this season, clocking in at a 73.3 overall mark. That earned him the mark of being their 24 best offensive tackle in the NFL. Aside from Dawkins, no one on Buffalo’s line fell in PFF’s “good” category.

Mitch Morse and John Feliciano, earning grades of 65.9 and 64.1, respectively, were considered “average” by PFF’s grading landscape.

Quinton Spain and Cody Ford landed at 55.8 and 52.4, respectively, very much below average.

The other missing Buffalo lineman is Ty Nsekhe, who landed with a solid grade of 67.3.

  7. I think we all need to WOOOSAHHH .. Look at the OL in 2018 ... though not complete .. I loved our 2019 version YOY .... we have a ALL PRO team compared to below.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) is aware of the Bills' changes along the offensive line. The analytics site ranked every NFL offensive line and Buffalo's 2018 unit came in at No. 29 on the list.

Here is what PFF had to say about the Bills' offensive line.

    PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP:

Left Tackle: Dion Dawkins, 74.5 overall grade
    Left Guard: Vladimir Ducasse, 75.5
    Center: Russell Bodine, 46.8
    Right Guard: John Miller, 39.1
    Right Tackle: Jordan Mills, 65.7

Hugely difficult to pick. I have to know who is there haha. Personally I doubt receiver or running back so I am going to strike those guys out. Tight End is only possible if Kmet is still there I think and he will be gone. Won't be a Quarterback and I'd be surprised if it was offensive line.

I think Greenard and Anae are probably gone.... I am going to say Kyle Dugger.

At this point I’ll guess Bryce Hall or Noah Igbinoghene

I’ll post my 2020 board come draft week

Appears two respected TBD draft posters whom do great work for this board have us both going defensive secondary.  Just curious is this more BPA or are you both highlighting what you/Beane believes to be primary draft focus with first available pick?

Guess my head was around WR (given well documented depth .. meaning a fairly good player should be there at 54), even after the Diggs trade or RB to assist Singletary.  Given all our defensive FA signings vs. offense, was guessing we'd stick to offense come draft time to help Josh.   If defense, then was thinking DE before secondary.

  9. This thread prompted me to look around the internet .. as if its on the internet it must be true and found this link from footballoutsiders.  I was a fan of many of our moves last year (especially Morse and Mongo -- who I really appreciate his finishing of blocks) and do believe it takes time for all the new players to gel.  That said, I didn't realize below as it relates to our running game, especially with Shady and his dancing behind the line gone in 2019.

    https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/nfl/offensive-line/2019

We ranked 28th in the run stuffing category and 25th in the "Power Category" rating on running ratings.  On pass protection, some of the 40 sacks also shown here .. I place on Josh not getting rid of the ball.

Stuffed: Percentage of runs where the running back is tackled at or behind the line of scrimmage. Since being stuffed is bad, teams are ranked from stuffed least often (#1) to most often (#32).

Power Success: Percentage of runs on third or fourth down, two yards or less to go, that achieved a first down or touchdown. Also includes runs on first-and-goal or second-and-goal from the two-yard line or closer. This is the only statistic on this page that includes quarterbacks.

Look forward to looking better in these categories in 2020.

  10. So we don't have the cap space to afford Flacco or better said .. I'd prefer our remaining cap to go to other priorities (i.e. - resign Tre) .. that said ... if you said you said who's a better mentor for Allen .. I'd take Flacco over Barkley any day.  I like Barkley and he's done great and is great locker room and team guy ... but he hasn't put a team on his back and reached the pinnacle.  Again think long term development for Josh, and frankly I think if Josh is injured ... Flacco vs Barkley is a coin flip ... though I believe Flacco's arm is closer to Josh than Barkley (who is a throw to a window QB).

2012 season: En route to winning Super Bowl XLVII and Super Bowl MVP, Flacco was 317-of-531 for 3,817 yards, 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Mounting one of the most memorable playoff runs ever, the QB was 73-of-126 for 1,140 yards and a 117.2 QB rating, becoming the second QB in NFL postseason history to throw 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions.

2014 season: Flacco started all 16 games for the seventh-consecutive season and set career-highs in passing yards (3,986) and touchdown passes (27). He became the first QB in NFL history to reach the postseason in six of his first seven years, with the Ravens offense setting a franchise single-season record in yards and points-scored

  11. I'm more about value and production.  Freeman & Gurley show what happens when sign a big contract and get injured.  Gordon didn't show squaduskie after he sat out and was playing for a contract and Fubarred and can't even get back what the Chargers offered him prior to holdout.  Hyde (my vote) has flipped a few teams and was very productive last year for Texans and will come much more economically.

Lamar ... no votes and I agree at time of this typing.
