I think the Bills moved up this vet purge by a season. Likely that was due to Miller and White’s significant injuries. So it could’ve waited a season, but it was coming. And I think it was the prudent move. IMO it also is a vote of confidence for McDermott. You don’t do this and then fire your HC in a year. You have to let him see the rebuild through. So I think he’s here for at least a few more years unless he loses the locker room.

LOL.. that statement will explode a few heads around here.

By Bills releasing Nyheim Hines the Bills are giving him ammo to his legal team will pursue legal action against those he believed were responsible for the crash that injury impacted him financially.

He made significant impact on special teams and because he was traded mid-season he did not have time to be integrated into offense.

    He will sue.

    He will prevail in court.

But he won't see much of his settlement money. You can't get blood from a stone. It's a long shot that whoever hit him has insurance that will cover this. Even if they have insurance, it's likely to be only half a million or less.

the amount of sexual perversion that goes on in the world is alarming and disturbing.

perps being held accountable upsets me ZERO. Needless to say.

If you were a dude who went to school in WNY up until 1970-something, there's a good chance you had to swim naked in swimming class. It was common.

My swim teacher gave me the creeps. Decades later I read in the paper that the school system settled three lawsuits where he sexually abused students. Those are the three we know about, how many went unreported?

In the military, one of the crew was diddling vulnerable very junior personnel. That rapist ended up in the brig.

It's disturbing for sure, especially when it hits close.

  4. This thread turned out well. I thought it was going to degrade into a "our coach is wasting the best QB of all-time" thread. There's a template for McD bashing somewhere around here--people use it all the time.

But the thread turned into stopping and realizing how nice we have it as it is.

Yeah, I want to complete the journey and win a Super Bowl. On the other hand, I'm enjoying the journey itself of winning seasons.

I didn’t like the trade up, but of course am glad it worked out. I take a bit of solace in knowing the 4th we gave up probably wouldn’t have amounted to much in his first year (judging by player selections around that pick). The glaring miss was Puka Nacua, but if the Bills wanted him, they could’ve had him in the 5th.

In contrast, looking at the player selections in the 2022 draft, the 4th we gave up for Elam could’ve had a chance to be an immediate contributor. There were a number of starters that were selected in the 4th (or later) that year.

With every trade up, you’re taking away opportunities for your club to find a gem on a cheap contract. And in most instances, there’s a good chance that whoever you’re trading up for won’t work out better than a player taken later. The math actually says there’s a coin flip chance. Keep those picks, add to them if possible, and get an influx of young, cheap talent in here.

    Your points are true.

Hidden benefit--the Kincaid trade up really screwed the Cowboys who had eyes on him. There's bonus points for that.

Do NOT trade up. Whoever we take, I can just about guarantee a guy will go later who will be just as good or better. Happens every draft.

Trading up for Kincaid worked out well.

Trading up one or two spots is OK, any more than that is unwise.

In whatever place these freakozoid athletes get to mentally, Allen has no choice but to get there with them. Jordan has it, Tiger has it, Nicklaus had it, Brady and Montana had it. I’m sure Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio had it. Recently, all three Tennis greats have it.

    In today's related news....

Caitlin Clark has it.  She broke the NCAA point record yesterday. Her shot hit nothing but net.

  8. Some posters will use any freaking occasion to beat their "Fire McDermott" drum. This thread is chock FULL of them. But there are other threads as well today.

The Mahomes trope is years old, worn out, and unimaginative. It is wrong and BORING!!!

    This board.. sheesh.

  9. I always wanted the AFC to win, no matter who it was, for the past decades.

But today, with some sadness, I'm cheering on the NFC.

It's a bummer. But I dislike the Chiefs more than I dislike the NFC.

I must be a traditionalist, but I like the unis as they are in red, white, and royal blue.  You can’t get more American then red, white and blue.

You can get more American if you sing Toby Kieth while looking at it.

It *might* make sense from a chromostereopsis standpoint of red adjoining blue creating a blurry affect, which ostensibly is the case on the blue jerseys… but on the road set we have black outlines between the red on the numbers & sleeves and the white jersey. And it’s between the blue and the white on the helmets. Such inconsistency. In the era of HDTV this is not needed. Even in the Kelly era with SD, this was not needed. It was just red, white, and blue. Simple as that. And the freaking collars that have changed 6-7 times with the different Nike templates (the toilet bowl ring, then it did meet at the V, then it didn’t, then it did, then it met but was just a grayed fabric, and now there’s an elongated V with the Fusion template)… please lose them!; just make the collars the same color as the jersey already.

    ...

You correctly used chromostereopsis in a sentence. Do you hangout at AKG Gallery?

With geriatric Frazier, we had one of the best defenses in the NFL.

I don't think our failures in the playoffs had anything to do with Frazier's age.  Youth isn't an automatic cure.

Frazier was born the same year I was, btw.  I don't believe my cognitive skills, imagination, inventiveness, mental energy, etc. have declined at all.  Saying Frazier is too old to run a good/aggressive defense is an insult to everyone my age.  Spags in KC is the same age as Frazier and me and seems to be doing just fine.

Prejudice based on age is just as pernicious as prejudice based on race, gender, ethnicity, or anything else.

You have all your brain cells working, good. Tip: if your Doc prescribes a statin drug for cholesterol--don't take it. Statin drugs bring brain fog.

As a White Male Senior recently looking for a job, I can assure you age discrimination is rampant. I even made a resume without dates--it got nowhere. So here I sit, retired earlier than I want to be.

I need a new saw so I'm getting a Dewalt 10 inch miter saw.

I'm building a play ramp for my dogs and my Skil saw isn't doing the job.  It's a cheaper one and I don't have a steady enough hand to cut it straight...I need better equipment.

Heh. I have a 10 inch Ryobi miter that I'm about to put on Craig's List. I have no idea what to ask for it.

    RIP fellas.

I'm so glad I don't partake. The words "Hey Babe, you wanna do some lines, possibly laced with Fentanyl, then watch the game while stoned?" will never cross my lips.

How can you appreciate the nuances of football while stoned or ripped-drunk? There's only 17+ games a year, I want to appreciate every play.
