I love the pre-draft hot takes.  I remember A LOT that looked just like this about Josh Allen.

so were using the rare exception to the rule (not the standard) as a measuring stick, not even just to QBs, but to any position/prospect now LOL

i like this! personally, while people may say hes fat, has a 5second 40, one arm, is 37years old. i think we should trade up into top 5 to take BillsShredder83

    ....did i do this right?

Will always love the BILLS , esp the 90’s teams and their greatness, but imho the final 4 is more pure athletic joy to watch over the much hyped , but often predictable, often less competitive Sb!

For one thing tonight’s national anthem was performed beautifully , flawlessly , with no improvised runs or interpretation.  Done by a Native American who moved the crowd to chant USA, USA with no ongoing war , just moved by her performance which was fabulous and has replaced Whitney’s rendition imo ,{albeit it was still supporting the USA at a time of war}. Just my opinion , but thats how you show pride in your country with no political agenda. If that didn’t move you , maybe you are either very jaded or over medicated.

The quality of competition in march madness has been really good, and the meaning to each player , some of whom will never become pros , leads to the exhibition of passion pro sports fails to reach at this point. Now foes are just buddies, who share commercials, may even be teammates the next season, plus they are all highly paid and they know there is always  next year because there is no eligibility limit other than your teams needs / cap limits. However, there are 31 other chances to catch on.   The NFL  is a mans sport , and nothing can match the youthful  exuberance that we all Lose with time and experience. I loved the nfl/bills so much in my 20’s that iwent  to two superbowls.  Great experiences i was so happy to attend; yet now it is such a corporate , highly over priced event that there is no longer any amount of money you could pay me to be treated as nothing more than a commodity by a multibillion dollar business who still begs for taxpayors monies while holding communities hostage threatening to move  their franchises despite years of faithful support.

That leads to the actual players we are supposed to be fans of, enjoy their unique talents. Some live up to that lofty expectation and i salute those who somehow retain their humility. But then we are exposed to many criminals, many with children by several “baby-mommas” as if some badge of honor, and of course , the narcissists who speak about teamwork but whose actions prove they are only about their personal gains and are really not about anything but their “ bag”. It’s just not as prevalent in college and they still play for each other. enjoying possibly their only chance to win a championship. It’s a business still, but not as in your face as ‘THE SHIELD”  is.

Also , basketball is played much the same as it was in the 70’s , other than held balls and the 3 point line. Try and keep up with pro football , and the myriad of changes makes it hard to grasp each year   It’s  still way too often decided by too many part time refs and waiting literally on minutes for replay to still come back with not enough evidence or even frankly still wrong. Basketball doesn’t suffer from all the delays between plays , reviews, innumerable commercials .  Rare doe it have  Overhyped ,overextended halftimes.  It’s still a faster paced game.

And never tell me about so called football experts, its plethora of podcasters that talk like they know more than regular fans, or all the draftniks who spend hours evaluation tons of mock drafts..  they are rarely even close and do all that wasted “film time” , as only 4-5 0f drafted players from each time will even see plating time. Yeah tell me experts have validity when almost 0 0f them predicted Diggs being traded. Actually criticizing any other opinion  sarcastically “because there was no way with that cap hit”!  It’s just proof , experts are no more than guessing amateurs and spending money on their “opinions” is just akin to scams. If you can’t predict a major trade like Diggs , how far off must your other advice be ?

But my main point still comes down to which event do you enjoy more?  The SB , with its multimillion dollar athletes who will do the same all over again next year , with little on the line for them personally as most have already made their fortunes , or the excitement of march madness who didn’t have 2 anthems sung to please its corporate crowd., and is still the same sport we basically all have played. I love the BILLS , but i really don’t care about the offseason that much. Because time after time , the season isn’t won until it actually counts.   The SB is good, most time anti climatic, but march madness and the final 4 is still ascending.  Give me a BILLS win and i might feel different,,,,but 55 years is a lot to ask!  Still, a great anthem tonight!  Great game tonight!

I see you're getting rained down on, but this is a football forum, and one centered around buffalo which has no pro team and no competitive college teams for basketball.

That said the SB as a whole, has been mostly trash (as a 35year Olds perspective). There's been some decent games sprinkled, last 2 years have been fun, generally I think afccg/nfccg is the best round.

The tournament was a freaking blast. I don't think your opinion is as out of line as the comments here would make it appear

I believe he has 2 years and 35 million left on his current contract......if Seattle eats some of that contract in the way the Bills did with Diggs, could a trade for Metcalf be possible?

How about a 2nd and 4th this year plus a conditional 2nd that could become a 1st next year for Metcalf and Seattle's 3rd rounder this year.

This would still leave the Bills with the ability to draft a WR at 28.....they could go with a smaller speed-type receiver like Xavier Worthy to compliment Metcalf at WR2.

An offense of Metcalf, Worthy, Samuel, Shakir, Kincaid, Knox, and Cook would surpass anything any other AFC offense could put on the field!!

    Lets go, Beane!!

I'm not here to poop on trade idea threads. It's reasonable, trade value looks fair or in ball park of fair.... wouldn't hate it If we did it, but prefer if we just draft our own young cheap guys.

That compensation gets us at least in ball park of a top 3 wr. Definitely within top 4. Stay cheap, get the humble, juiced up to perform kinda guy over an expensive veteran.

Will admit my approach is more of a gamble, higher ceiling, lower floor potential. If BB finds that too risky or impossible.... stay put and let a stacked draft fall your way.

Good scenarios where any of the 3 options improves us

  4. Literally who cares?

There's a reason the team keeps in house squabbles under wraps. Think the season gets better or worse if front office let's all this hit open air? Pretty easy to say worse, 1 year of that, what's Diggs already tainted draft value? A 5th?

Are we pining for the Russ Brandon days? Lol I'm cool with not hearing soap opera bs if it means better on field production.

Wrestlemania is this weekend, maybe that could be your thing! I'll take being a fan of football games instead

Yes, but we’re not paying any of our skill position players top end of market right now. Shakir, Kincaid and Cook are cost controlled for at least another 2 years.  Knox took a paycut.  Yes, it would be great if we could draft a stud WR who’s immediately a #1WR but the odds are well below 50% where we are drafting.  And I’m not wasting a year of prime Josh on those odds.  Give me the 80-90% sure thing in Aiyuk.

solid reasoning here i could be talked into (compensation dependant). still want us to take a WR in draft, basically high (top 3 rds) every year we have Josh

    CAN ANYONE ANSWER:

IF SF IS ON ROOKIE CONTRACT W/ PURDY, WHY ARE THEY UNWILLING TO PAY HIM?  I KNOW THEY PAY DEEBO, BUT AGAIN ROOKIE QB CONTRACT

  6. 2 hours ago, GunnerBill said:

Agree they have to believe that. And yep, Harrison is not a total consensus as #1. Equally though Nabers isn't a total consensus as #2.

The other option is a trade up to say #13 with the Raiders which costs a smaller price and take Thomas.

early here, but this is the scenario im liking the most (obv on paper without specifics known).

If you win some money you dont immediately blow it out of a cannon as fast as you can to buy a mansion. you pay off your current mortgage, get a nice but reliable car, dont quit your job, stay on the plan.

small trade up to grab the #4 guy, unless a top 3 falls farther than youd expect. consider going to WR well again in 2nd/4th. develop shakir, Kink, plug some holes elsewhere.

that Minn 2nd is going to be a premium top 10 (maybe 5'ish) pick, so if some team wants to treat it like mid-late rd pick, you walk. if some team acknowledges that team is going to bottom out and theyre looking to trade back to build up a roster, you consider it

So I guess we can assume the Bills heard they are going to be on Hard Knocks this year and McDermottt didn’t want Diggs to embarrass him, so he told Beane to give him the boot.

If the cap hit is minimized, this is a huge win for the Bills. They need guys that are going to step up in the playoffs, and hopefully they will draft someone - anyone - that will do that other than Josh.

might be the3 dumbest thing ive read in a sea of dumb takes in this thread lol

U really g2 be an a-hole to stop being friends with Josh tbh. top 2 qb, seemingly one of the most liked dudes in league by fans, executives, teammates, other teams players

It looks like KC may have to draft two WRs in the upcoming draft.

lol yall are insane. he didnt kill anyone..... this also isnt pat mcafee falling into the water wasted

hes not getting Ruggs treatment, ane hes not getting a stern letter, pretty easy to keep this one out of the extreme ends of spectrum.

dude might get a game or two, it isnt changing how KC approaches the draft, unless theyre aware of some Aaron Hernandez type red flags behind the scenes and theyve bailed him out of trouble/hushed them up a few times....... no indication of that, so until then we can all be reasonable

The amount of blocked kicks will offset the percentage

So many kicks are just a couple of inches away from being blocked.. moving it up those two yards will result in a lot more blocks

The kicker would have to change the angle of his kick which would also affect his kicking ability

Forget decade(s) of muscle memory, kickers are known to be hardy and very spontaneous.  they excel when new scenarios are tossed at them, as all that muscle memory and practice gets boring.  toss in their resistance to becoming mental cases and this is great.

i think to trick the other team we should move it every time. 8yds, 4, 3.1.

Msyne put the OL all the way to the left hash, and line kicker up to the right hash.  a diagonal snap would wreak havoc on opposing ST's coordinators.

Agree completely. The only move up is for a WR with where we are at. And if Coop’ is there and 28 and hey select him, you can’t be mad.

Hard to see him getting past Philly at #22(ish, 21?)

Yes.  Clumsily trying to cover up the scent of a paid SM manager.... but the thing is, that a literate adult could not intentionally recreate that level of illiteracy of 'AB Brain'.

You ever see a child wildly misspell something, and you're like 'wow, very wrong.... but i can see where a newb to the language could spell it that way.' Thats an AB Tweet.  He should PPV a spelling bee with him and Mayweather lol

AB is a fun follow on X.. he’s also clearly crazy.  Not sure id want to engage in a public back and forth with him.  Seems unnecessary.  He’ll be on to some other topic in 15 minutes.

There is precisely a 0.0% chance AB has made a single one of those Tweets.

To steal an eloquent quote from 50 Cent to Floyd Mayweather -

"if you could read one full page out of a Harry Potter book (silly goose), I'll donate $1m to whatever charitable organization you want."

Now we're talking about AB, and I don't have $1m, but Id bet a paycheck AB can't read past a 5th grade level and dang sure can't write a single Tweet without multiple heinous spelling errors.

Whoever he hired is pretty funny though, hope they got paid up front!

they will find a way to have two different standards on this one too.

100%. is anybody ACTUALLY on board with this? replays decision process already sucks, takes forever, is a mystery as how it interpreted/enforced.... refs will be PO'd about it and refuse to change ruling anyways... anddddddd were doing all this for an action that doesnt *actually* effect the outcome of a play. or at least it didnt, now it will

LETS GET REPLAY TO REVIEW IF A PLAYERS SHIRT IS UNTUCKED!

it it tucked in? untucked? half tucked? is that part tucked in, or just a little wrinkly in that spot!!!  15yard penalty, automatic first down!!!  lets give the refs more  huge momentum swinging capabilities!!!

can not wait to see an offense challenge their own late snap play, that went for a pick 6, get overturned! wowwwweeeeeee thatll be exciting enough to warrant yet another 2min TV timeout during games!!! plus, think of the gambling! how awesome that refs have another out, and there will be self brought, warranted scrutiny, to every snap taken between 1second and -1 second on the playclock.  certainly will make for exciting headlines, articles, fan complaints, and talking head discussions, about who "should've won"

This is a deep class. There's going to be guys going in Round 4 and Round 5 that would have been taken a Round or more earlier in other years and may end up just as good, if not better, than the higher rated prospects - in the long run.

And I know you and others may not want to hear this - but I don't know that Beane is on the same page as the board as far as *planning* on Diggs not being here next year.

I could easily see a scenario wherein he steps up and returns to form by having an ACTUAL core of WR's around him and taking some coverage away from him, as opposed to the last two seasons of Diggs and...?

I think there's a good chance it does happen after this season. But I don't think Beane is on the same page of replacing him immediately for next season before seeing what he looks like this year with help around him.

I think it's probable he takes another guy on Day 3 to hedge his bet. But back to back is pretty much a pipe dream, given that we still have holes, and big ones, like 3T DT behind Oliver who is going to get 30-40% of snaps every week - and the fact that after 60, we don't have another pick until 128.

i agree with all of this.... but follow the board with WR position as a tie breaker on importance. if a WR falls in 2nd or 3rd and we already grabbed one in the 1st, thats a good problem to have. dont mind a raw borderline blue chip red shirting (or coming onto form playoff time to spell WR's) a la Bernard (Legette comes to mind)

if board doesnt fall that way, then im perfectly on board with the above post. we've got options, all are pretty olid

also, diggs was hurt, had no WR2 AT ALLLLLLLL, expect a huge comeback year.  enormous, monstrous.  timing could work out well to trade him with high value, while his replacement is already familiar with the system.... or he gracefully ages into an elite #2 with a few youngins around him

I would never trade a future first round selection for any player outside of a QB. In the NFL where injury is so volatile no draft prospect outside of a QB (who can play for 15+ years and completely turn around the fortunes of a franchise) is worth giving up a future first round pick for. From a sheer numbers perspective if you give up multiple premium picks for a WR or DE and that player gets hurt or is a bust not only did you burn a first on them but you burnt multiple selections on that player. Any player can get hurt or be a bust so the risk far outweighs the reward of robbing Peter to pay Paul so to speak.

Given how Beane's philosophy is to keep the team is to sustain a winning core to keep a window for success open as long as possible and eventually you will get lucky, I don't see him "mortgaging the future" so to speak nor would it be prudent to do so.

Can't forget it's coat controlled at what is quickly accelerating towards the #2 highest paid position in football.

If you have a guy left in your tier #1 within reach you don't sit back and wait for tier 2 at a position of need.

Sitting still causes you to miss out on your guy, but also can compromise a strict BPA strategy.

You'll never be able to afford a WR1 in FA with Josh and a team this solidly built.... if needed, spend cap resources, do it once, but be sure about it. Remember taking a stab at RB in 3rd rd 2 years in a row, to have zero #1s.....

Imagine spending two #1s and not getting THE guy you wanted. I'm neither for or against the idea, come up with consensus WR tiers, commit to following the rules the board dictates
