Watching Green Bay and Houston Texans - both underdogs in their games, come out loose with nothing to lose and stomping the favored teams makes me nervous about the Bills game.

It's the playoffs.  We should be nervous every game. Pittsburgh won 10 games, great defense,  great running game, big play WR, great coach.

It won't be easy unless we win the turnover battle.

It's kind of funny.  It's like some fans think the NFL is doing things based on what makes sense, or what is kind, or reasonable, or fair.

The answer to any question about why the NFL did something is always going to be the same from now until Doomsday.....MONEY.

    Money=ratings=viewership=etc.

Why in the world do you think we still have 3 pre-season football games, more teams in the playoffs, and 17 games?

    That's right.  Money.

I hear this year after year, it's a business not a sport, it's about the money. No kidding. You know why I go to work every day?  The money.

Do you think this is some sort of revelation?  Why would they make decisions that hurt ratings, make for a poor product, lose money...., if they don't have to.

I think the NFL is big time upset that Kathy Hochul  played their hand by issuing the state of emergency and travel ban. The NFL wanted a playoff game to be played in a blizzard so badly.  The ratings would have been through the roof.

The ratings likely would have been the same blizzard or not.  It would have been the only game on,  all fans would have watched it.

The  league could have shown a little foresight.  Buffalo is the NFL City most likely to have weather that could force the postponement or relocation of a game.  Knowing that, the league could have scheduled Buffalo-Pittsburgh on a Saturday.  That way, if weather forced a postponement, they could still have played on a Sunday.

How could they have played on Sunday? They obviously can't play on Sunday.

Right? But then one person gets in an fender bender and there are cries and cries of she didn't take it seriously. Or the plows were busy keeping the major roads open so they didn't do Karen's neighborhood and she takes to Twitter...

I could never be a politician. I'm to smart.

The dolphins Bills game last year there was a blizzard for 2-3 hours before the game and then it stopped 2 hrs before the game. What’s the big deal? It’s Buffalo

What's the big deal? It will adversely affect playing conditions, possibly to the detriment of the Bills offense, holding back Allen's effectiveness.

    Do you really not understand?

to be fair, that “bobsled” tush-push had been pretty money for us this season (at least the latter half when we really started using it).  Miami did a pretty good job against it in the 2nd half there.

Allen shouldn't leap on the push play.  Follow the blocker and let Fournette push.

Why can’t Kincaid and/or Shakir be that guy? This is where I have issues with the structure of this offense under both coordinations this season.

Shakir looks like he can fill that role. Kincaid should be more of a big play threat. But Josh needs to make smarter decisions with who to throw to.

At its core, these guys play football at this level mainly to "make money".   Ed Oliver as much as admitted as much when asked about his increased sacks this year... he immediately referenced his big bonus for reaching 10 sacks rather than how it helped the team.   and his sack bonus is small relative to his base contract, which sort of proves the point.   He says "that's what they pay me to do".   Value exchanged for value.

Fans get lost in this "win one for the Gipper" mindset when guys like Jones, in a contract expiration year where he has very little on tape, needs to get back on the field somehow, anyhow, to show he still "has it" so that he can get a new big contract from some team for next year.  Especially important now, as this will be his last big contract in all likelihood, so he needs to strike while the iron is hot.   I'm not convinced that winning Super Bowls, etc.  is front and center for most NFL players.  The next big contract is.

He would not be in such a rush to get back if he was signed for next year, in my opinion.   Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe some NFL players are more altruistic than I think (eg. Matt Milano, however I think he just screwed up) , but these guys mostly ball out in the last year of their contract bc they want to increase their market value, period.   Eg. we shall see, but IMHO Epenesa and Floyd ain't takin "home town discounts" to help the team win the SB next year.  They'll go where the $$ tak$s them.

Hate to burst the balloon that Jones is coming back to "help the good ole team" , but it's largely about the $$ fellas.

Of course they want the money, why else put your body through that kind of abuse. We seem to take players having surgery as just 'part of the game', but having surgery is a big deal. They have very few years to make hay, so they push it. Nothing wrong with it and I doubt most fans didn't already realize how big a factor money plays into it.  Most players won't sniff a championship, they should make whatever they can , while they can.  Having said that, the competitive drive needs to be there to be effective, Jones obviously has that.

I’ve always seen the heart of NFL fandom being the Midwest. The west coast doesn’t care, the south is all about college ball, and the northeast has fair weather fans imo. I couldn’t agree more about the west coast, but I think sports just aren’t all that important in most of the larger cities.

For all those areas that you don't think care enough, the league is printing money. I think your generalizations are probably off a bit.

Phins are in trouble without Waddle.  Ravens crushed what looked like an unstoppable,  when healthy, team. That Baltimore defense is for real.  I haven't seen Tua be the guy when off script, this will be a big game for him.  Should be a great game to watch.

Unfortunately , the NFL has 10 early games scheduled, so while it would be great to watch, unless you forego the Bills game, you can't watch it.  So stupid of the league to have so many games on at the same time. Makes no sense.

Just my 2 cents…I think Non would have been perfectly content being on IR the entire season…and I bet he would love for the Bills to cut him in the offseason, and then sign with a preferred choice(Dallas?) for a few million since the Bills already opened the Pegula vault for him.

You're just making this up right? You have no insider knowledge of Non's thinking, right?

I've seen a couple people say this now, but I'm debating in my head if that is an apples to oranges comparison considering the differences of the positions. I think it is, but yeah the knee would definitely impact his off the line explosiveness. But if that's the case, should he playing? I don't know the answers to any of this stuff. But just thinking out loud.

I was NOT a miller fan when they signed him. I referred to him on the Broncos as Von Duechebag cuz that's how he came off to me. The whole signing felt like a mercenary deal at the time. But he's grown on me a little with his personality. The free agent stuff was pretty lame though. Sorry just rambling now.

The level of play in the NFL is so exceptional that the slightest setback makes a huge impact. Regardless of position, if you're playing at 80%, you're always playing against someone that's pretty close to 100%, that's huge in the NFL. That's why RB's or LB's get cut as soon as they lose a step, you can't compete on an level field anymore.

    Von Duechebag? Seriously?

Spotting the Chargers 13 points off of self inflicted turnovers made this game far too competitive. It’s certainly frustrating that under McDermott we turn the ball over too much. Clean up the turnovers and this team dominates!

Also after going up 21-13, they proceeded to give up three scoring drives in the 4th qtr that thankfully resulted in FG’s. They got outscored 9-3 in the 4th qtr which is unacceptable.

One 'drive' began at our 32 and resulted in -4 yards for the Chargers.

Another 'drive' began at our 48 and the chargers got 21 yards on 6 plays.  Only 1 drive was started in Chargers territory. To say they gave up 3 scoring drives is a big stretch.

Let's see how Lamar does against the Bills this year.  In past years, Lamar has been mostly contained with the Bills method of D.  Now, this year's team is so depleted of journeyman/star players, that executing that scheme may not be possible.  But, it has been done by the Bills in prior years.  Maybe Harbaugh and company have added new weapons and plays....lets hope we get to see that this year.

I'm more concerned with their defense than offense.

    They're a big play defense.

It all adds up buddy. It's football. Clearly you never played. The travel, short week and long season surely take a toll on these guys. Get with it.

Correct,  I've never played in the NFL.

I guess your nfl experience gives you insight that the rest of us don't have.

I agree completely.  The wi-fi was awful also.  The Bills would get a sack, and I'd have no idea who.  But my biggest complaint was how far away from the action I felt.  I was in the top deck, but only the 3rd row.  There were at least 30 rows behind me.  The players looked tiny.  Yes, it's stunning architecturally, but I found myself thinking bout the new place.  I think they'll get it right.

I just received a survey from the Chargers today about my experience at the game. Gave everything glowing reviews except for the music and lack of replays.  With all of that screen space, you'd think that they would overwhelm you with replays.

I can't imagine there is a better atmosphere and venue in the nfl for my needs and wants.  No nonsense, low frills venue with great sight lines.  Only purpose is football spectating.  The crowd is entirely blue collar.  Parking in and habitating a neighborhood is also great.  It's a unique and rare environment we have.  "College atmosphere" can't be said enough.

I know doctors and lawyers... that attend Bills games. Not blue collar. Either way, it's not a good or a bad thing. Who cares what job they have or what their income is. They're fans.
