Yea, experience is not why he's being interviewed by multiple teams this off season. But he does "check a few boxes".
It's a good chance for him to get his name out there for the future, but most people I think would agree he's not very qualified.
Why not? QB coaches aren't qualified to be promoted to OC?
-
He had some nice moments, but was pretty one dimensional. I think we need an upgrade.

If White is still on the roster, Benford is depth. He is a phenomenal tackler with ball skills (talking Benford).
Big question mark with White. Need to be 100% ready in training camp, or likely a cap casualty.

More likely bentford. Problem is we don’t know how good or bad Elam will be at corner and we may need 47 at CB. Plus he was pretty good there
Benford has become a very good CB. Don't see him moving anywhere.
Probably a FA, along with Rapp. Poyer probably gone too.

What a crazy stat this is. His time should be up with the Bills.
Players aren't paid per tackle.

The fact he was using Dorseys playbook. Obviously McDummie told him be a run first OC and he listened and did that, that by itself lessens the pass game stats. Numerous video breakdowns from tons of people have all pointed out the faults and deficiencies of the pass game, route trees and lack of open guys / seperation. Stop being obtuse to think all this didnt hamper Brady, lol.
I'm sure we agree that we need improvement with WR's, but 16 passes behind the line of scrimmage last night isn't going to get you too far.

Lol? Why are you laughing out loud at your own comment?
You don't think it was possible fit Brady to install new plays or just use good ones that worked well?
Why do you think he did such a good job?
'Tons of people' really?

So you totally gloss over the HUGE fact that Brady was using Dorseys playbook and did the best he could. Wow!
Yes I am. If the best he could is Diggs averaging 35 yards per game and Josh averaging 200 yards passing, that's not good enough.
What in your view makes him worthy of a promotion to permanent OC?

Round 1 WR, Round 2 DE, Round 3 safety. Sign Jeremy Chinn, DJ Reader and mid level Defensive end in free agency. If Diggs or any of his people open their mouths this off-season, cut him and bring in Hopkins to replace him. I think Miller has a Floyd 2023 season left in him. rousseau, miller, oliver, reader, mid priced DE, round 2 draft pick DE, round 5 one tech on D line. Linebacker is set. CB is set. Hyde, Chinn and round 3 draft pick at safety. O Line is set. TE set. RB set, QB set, Diggs/Shakir/Round 1 WR.
Hyde won't be back, probably poyer gone as well. Probably need more lb depth as can't have a guy like Klein starting in the playoffs. Another corner would be helpful. Tre probably done, Jackson is decent, but could improve upon. Lot of decisions on the dline to be made.

Brady has been fine. He has arguable done a better job using Dorseys playbook than did Dorsey using his own playbook.
I agree he did better, but not good enough. We have an opportunity to hire the best OC available, one that would love to work with Josh.
Diggs invisible since he took over, passing game merely average, our offense is basically let josh do it.
He's so good that he can win a lot on his own, but he really needs help.

27-24 - Josh Allen and offense 4 plays 7 yards (fake punt)
27-24 - Defense causes fumble - touchback
27-24 - Josh Allen and offense 3 plays -2 yards
27-24 - Defense forces Chiefs punt
27-24 - Josh Allen and offense drive down the field and come away with zero points
27-24 - Defense allows first down to end the game
These 3 series are about as bad as the defense was.
Brady didn't help. We need to get the best OC available. They would jump at the chance to work with Allen.

They don't have one.

Wide receiver. The same thing they should have the last two offseasons.
They can get WRs and still focus on defense.
We need to replace Hyde and Poyer, most of the dline are FA, and we obviously need depth at LB. Can't get some guy on a family vacation to start a playoff game.

They were horrible, yes. Unfortunately, I fully expect that Beane and McDermott will overreact to it and heavily prioritize defense again this offseason, with the same futile results.
What should they prioritize?

The Chiefs defense is outstanding which I am not sure is understood enough. This game was lost on defense, if you told me the BIlls will run the ball effectively, score 24 points and have no turnovers I would have taken that. Allowing those guys to score 27 in your house with a limited number of drives was the issue. We can make the injury excuse but to me that is all it is, you have to scheme it up and fine a way.
Injuries are a pretty valid reason for ineffective play. You can't always just ' find a way'. Missing Milano and Bernard, having them replaced with a player no nfl team wanted isn't good.
-
Actually I think the injuries were a pretty good excuse. Our MLB shouldn't even be in the NFL, no team wanted him. Losing 2 great mlb, Douglass didn't look 100%, obviously missed Benford, Von not close to 100%. Injuries were significant. Rapp out was significant as Hyde and Poyer are finished.

Disagree with this. I thought Brady called a perfect game plan. It is hard for an offense to function without a single outside WR playing at even an average level. Brady took the only possible path of feeding the RBs and leaning on Josh's legs. There is only so much you can do when you're forced into that game script, but he maximized it as best he could.
KC adjusted at half and were very aggressive on first downs, attacking the run. Brady didn't react. Lot of bad first down plays in the 2nd half. We scored 7 points in the half and Josh was under 200 yards passing. Not good. Find the best OC available and bring him in.

We can't get receivers deep. Even on play action. No separation downfield.
We need new receivers and new OC. Diggs was non existent under Brady. One game over 50 yards under Brady. Kincaid gets open downfield but for some reason, we don't do that.
-
Our passing game was subpar, not blaming Allen, but 39 attempts for 186 yards? If not for his rushing, we're not even competitive. Brady called a terrible 2nd half. We are now a running team with not much of a passing attack. Last 7 games only 1 over 300 yards passing, 3 under 200.
Can't just depend on him running for TD's.

Big news on Taron. Although undersized, he is our best answer for Kelce. Also going to need a big game from the front four tonight. If Ed and DQ-J can control the A+B gaps it will make life easier for the combo of Dodson/Williams/Klein to diagnose and make plays on Pacheco in the run game.
He's just the right size to be a All Pro.

I see the same guy I saw at Oregon, talented, but no “it” factor. Maybe it’s the terrible coaching, but maybe it’s just the same guy.
Watching him at Oregon, I also felt that something was missing. Maybe he was just overhyped.

Was he a coordinator? I don’t know. I’d say being a coordinator from day 1 has more to do with being a head coach than being an interim head coach. I just believe that for an interim, they haven’t created anything—they’re just taking over for an already established thing.
Love it. Wonder why the Falcons aren’t deciding Antonio Pierce or Bill Belichick?
Anyone here believe that Pierce is a better choice than Bill Belichick for the Raiders? Or for any team? I’d love to hear it.
What are you talking about?

Exactly. Plus, Pierce has no head coaching experience. This is beyond risky for the Raiders. I think people get blinded by the success during the interim. That’s no indicator for future success as the head guy beginning day 1. All I’m really saying is that it’s beyond risky, and there are other less riskier moves that could’ve been made.
I’d have to think that the Raiders job is very prestigious to NFL men. In Vegas.. come on. This is a dream job.
He has head coaching experience, just this past season. That's more experience than many new hires over the years.

Bills to interview Thad Lewis for OC
