    Sounds about right

If given the chance he probably produces as much as Epenesa and Basham at a fraction of the cost. Still seems unlikely at this point. If Miller was healthy they might be more willing to move on from Epenesa nad Basham but with Miller likely going to PUP they are likely to keep the two guys that they drafted and know the system.

He makes about 800k base salary.  Basham and A.J. about 1.5 or so. Not really significant savings. Not sure I would move on from either of them but I might trade Lawson.

Didn’t they bring in Matt Leinart a couple of days before they made him play in the preseason? Maybe they can do it again!

I think they would have brought someone in by now. Kyle Allen looks like he will get all the work he can handle.

If he gets hurt  and Barkley is out,  maybe Josh can come back in and just hand the ball off.

They signed Leinart 10 years ago tomorrow. Also traded for Thad Lewis, the same day, and had Jeff Teul.

You're missing those roster bonuses-those are the killers in the contract.  Take a look at the attachment earlier in this thread that shows how much money he's owed the next 2 years & get back to us.

Then what?  Pay him his big roster bonus next year & accept his 5th year option without seeing him play?  The guy has no future with his present contract.  The best chance he has to succeed is being released by SF & signing a team friendly 2-3 year deal as a free agent.

I did look at the contract and there might be teams willing to make that investment. My response was aimed at those who didn't understand that most of the money was SIGNING bonus. I'm personally not that interested in Lance but if he had won the QB2 gig; would DARNOLD have made sense for the Bills?

For the 3rd overall pick, it ain’t cheap.

The 9ers would owe more on the cap to get rid of him than keep him.  Unless he’s a distraction, look for him to stay right where he  is until after the season or when they get decent compensation for him.

I think 22 million of a total contract value of 34 was paid as a signing  bonus. They way I understand it,a team acquiring him would be on the hook for a total of about 11,12 million over the remaining 2 years of the contract. The salary is negligible ( 1 million each year)but the roster bonuses could be somewhat costly)

If I was Beane I would explore the possibility of Tre Lance if he can rework that insane deal. No one will trade for him with that contract.

Have you actually looked at the numbers? The salary is only like 1 million each year, 2023 and 24. SF is responsible for the huge signing bonus ( 20,22 million?) Not the team that trades for him

3 pick overall. 4 year $34 million contract for a 2nd or 3rd string QB is absolutely insane.

You don't seem to understand the bonus payment has already occurred.

Solid players, especially at OT, aren't going to be available for us via waivers - and teams don't just cut quality OL.

If I were Beane, I'd be making Shakir, Boogie (or) Epenesa available for player swaps.

In terms of creating cap space, I'd do the least we can do to get cap compliant with some wiggle room.  Outside of Jones/Johnson, I don't have much of an appetite to restructure anyone else given our future cap reality relative to their play on the field (White/Dawkins).

    How about trading Lawson?

I think they'll be picking up a tackle at cut down time. The issues were strikingly evident against the Steelers defense. Can't go into the season without a backup plan behind Brown. Maybe Brown finally proves himself, but up to now, he simply hasn't.

Will they find anyone better or as affordable as Quessen erry and Vandemark?

They seem to be sticking him at Guard, but I'm wondering if David Edwards might see some reps this week at tackle.

Wasn't Edwards All American at right tackle?

It’s hard to understand the lack of action bringing in an MLB. We have brought in random RB and OL just to make a few. We clearly have lack of talent and depth at MLB but what has this team done? Are we waiting for cuts? Some believe the starting MLB is not even on this roster right now.

Well ,you probably answered your own question. Not much to choose from at the moment but there will be 1000 guys cut-down and I'm sure Beane will be shopping g

The panic that's ensued after the game Saturday night is amusing. On August 14, 2008, the Bills 'hosted' the Steelers at the Rogers Dome in Toronto.

The Bills jumped out to a 21-0 lead on the Steelers—running their starters off the field. The Bills eventually won 24-21. After starting hot, the Dick Jauron coached Bills went 7-9. The Steelers finished second in the AFC behind the Titans and went on to beat Arizona in Super Bowl XLIII.

Funny how Greg Cosell just told this story on OneBills Live

The rule only applies to a QB who is carried on the 53 man roster, not a QB who is called up from the PS.

I highly doubt many teams will do this. The bottom of the roster spots are too valuable for special teams to have a guy taking one up that will almost never play.

The difference being the 3rd QB doesn't count against the 47/48 game actives.

    Just say no to Darnold.

He would be too expensive but I'd take Baker Mayfield over both those guys as a backup.

Darnold's base salary is 1.9 million  so hardly expensive. Depends on what Bills would have to give up in a trade

This is, and has been, a concern of mine. Both guys stink. Please don’t give me the, “if Josh Allen goes out we are screwed anyways” nonsense. If he, or any QB misses an extended period of time, the team is done. This is about a 4 week injury. That’s how you have to look at it. If Josh misses a month, “can these guys keep the ship afloat?” With the division improving the Bills would likely need to be AT LEAST 2-2 in that 4 game stretch to survive. I do not believe in either of those 2 scrubs. When your SB window is open, you SHOULD have one of the best backup QBs in the league. I FIRMLY believe that. Trubisky was the perfect example of a guy that could maintain for a month if needed. I wanted Brissett this off-season (he played great football last year). I would have also accepted a late round pick for Davis Mills. It is a massive mistake, imo, to have these 2 behind Josh. Let’s hope that it doesn’t matter. I’d hate to look back at this year and say, “if we only could have won that Pats game that Josh missed…”

I've always thought might be a good fit

I'm really on the fence on this.  Yes I hate how bad they looked but if any important starter gets hurt for a ps game that means zilch.  And practicing them until they are beaten and tired  won't exactly give them a leg up on the Jets week 1.  I don't think the Jets can hang with a Josh led offense if he is on.  Does Josh need the game reps to be at his best for the Jets opener.

If they need to play next week to prepare for the season then it means much more than 'zilch". The team sucked last night.

He’s borderline elite right now to me. Very few TE’s have the route improv skills like Kelce. Kincaid does.

He may end up with the 2nd most targets and receptions on the team

He’s already been lined up & run routes from outside, the slot and in-line so far this preaseason.

Allen played 17 snaps. Kincaid 13 of them

I doubt Kincaid gets more targets than Davis. Curb your enthusiasm; he's a rookie and the Bills have several options
