2. What is the right play for next season?
The reality is he isn't tradeable so it is a clear decision between keep or cut. If they are cutting him they are designating it as a post 1 June cut for relatively obvious reasons, to cut him without that designation means he carries a $32.5m dead cap hit in 2024 and actually costs about $8.5m MORE on next year's cap than if he stayed. The post 1 June cut would result in a dead cap hit in 2024 of $17m, but a cap SAVING compared to him being on the team, of $6.8m. It also carries a cap hit of $15m for 2025. HOWEVER, that dead cap would exist if, as was originally envisaged, he played 3 years and was then cut. So I have to think the Bills have been planning for that $15m dead cap hit to exist ever since they signed Von. So all they really lose by cutting him a year early in that sense is the ability to spread the $15m over two years rather than it all escalate onto the 2025 cap. Basically if you are still following this at home the question is whether you think the almost $7m in cap space for a team with some work to do and a slight loss of 2025/2026 cap flexibility over the second half of the dead money is worth cutting a player who is paid like a difference maker and at the moment is no more than a semi-functional backup.
My gut tells me unless Von suddenly becomes Von in the next 2 weeks (and hopefully playoff run) he is done with the Bills after this season.
I am 100% behind this option!!! Admit he is done as a Bill, take the dead cap hit, and move on from this woman beater.

I am optimistic Von will have a stronger year next year.
Boy, that is going out on a limb. I don’t think it is possible for him to be any worse.

You're just making this up right? You have no insider knowledge of Non's thinking, right?
Well lets see…either I had dinner with Non recently, and he told me his true feelings, or it is just my opinion. I will let you figure it out.
-
Just my 2 cents…I think Non would have been perfectly content being on IR the entire season…and I bet he would love for the Bills to cut him in the offseason, and then sign with a preferred choice(Dallas?) for a few million since the Bills already opened the Pegula vault for him.

Riverfront Stadium(late 70’s)
Joe Robbie/Hard Rock/etc(3 times)
Raymond James
Jacksonville(2 times)
Cleveland(current stadium)
Kansas City
Oakland(by far the biggest dump)
Indy(RCA Dome)
Dallas - Jerry World
Nashville(best away game trip)
I would say the current version of Miami’s stadium with canopy is the best of the lot that I have visited.

I don't understand their cockiness. My best friend is a Dfan and he's talking all this ***** how they are going to win out. They finally/ barely beat a team with a winning record who's the worst road team. And they think he/they think they'll easily win out. Did they not see what Baltimore did to 49ers? When was the last time they beat the Bills without 100 degree heat? And both Wadle and Hill have ankle injuries.... I don't get it. Thanks for letting me vent ... Merry Christmas Bills Mafia!!!
So this is about your friend? Why not just text him, and skip the LAMP.

Did a quick peek at free agency and the 2 guys that would be unbelievable to get this offseason are Antoine Winfield Jr and the other Josh Allen. Those 2 are game wreckers on D. I don’t think there’s a WR worth the money they’ll want. I’d give a 3 year $35mil type deal to Ridley or Pittman but that’s about it. I’d rather get Odunze in the draft
Chris Jones would also be amazing but he’s going to get an insane amount of money
Hahaha. Absolutely 0.0 chance you get Pittman for ~12mil per year.

If anyone is looking for this as a Christmas present and don’t want to wait until January, local B&N stores in WNY had some copies last week.

Sadly, this is just the beginning. I'm sorry they did this to you, and I don't blame you for not paying them.
Just the beginning? Remind me how long games have been on ESPN? You know, that channel you pay for.

Way to conveniently leave out what I said I'd actually want them to do.
The smartest course of action would be to let Gabe walk and invest in a R1 WR. Look at the Vikings with Jordan Addison, that's the model you want ideally. Maybe even double dip in the 3rd round.
Regardless, Gabe is going to get a contract in the 11-15 million range most likely. I'd rather have a rookie WR than pay 12 for a guy who is way too streaky.
We will see. To find a guy who can start and be productive right out of his 1st training camp is not easy.

I think there's more reliable guys out there for what you're going to pay in that 6-9 million dollar range.
A WR2, in the 6-9mil range, and better than Gabe? Names please?
-
Gabe is going to cost over $10 mil per whether he signs with the Bills or somewhere else. My guess…the Bills let him walk.
