There are more factors to signing a player than just what you see on tape. Beane has friends inside the Panthers he trusts, which is why the Bills sign players from the Panthers. Just because the Panthers are a bad team, doesn't mean every player coming from them is worthless.

I have been on the WR bandwagon for 1st round pick for a couple years now.   The top 20 WR's in this years draft is probably higher quality than at any time that I can remember. You could probably find a good WR in the first 3 rounds.   It got me thinking, what player if they became available anywhere in the vicinity of the 28th pick that is not a WR that you could not pass up on?

For me, it would be LAIATU LATU.   Edge rusher is a position of need, they are a premium pick position and Latu fits the bill.  He for me would be very difficult to pass up if he were available somewhere around the 22 pick up.  He's a stud, great technician, has all the moves, great pro typical size with a history of fantastic production at a big university.    I think the dude will end up being a 10+ a year guy right off the bat.

I am not really sure why folks care so much about trying to pretend the Bills are a better football. We still have Josh. It doesn't really matter.

How Bills fans, that suffered through the drought and Brady kicking our teeth in every year, have somehow forgotten that a great QB matters infinitely more than the talent level of the other 52 spots is one of life's biggest mysteries.

Then hopefully the melon farmer can get it done, eh?

Because we know nobody else on the roster is gonna do it.

Despite the reactions, you're not wrong.

Some are happy just getting to the playoffs or winning the division.  Then there are those of us who want nothing less than to win the Super Bowl.

I know. I look at this roster and I don't see the team beating Cincinnati, Kansas City or even Houston in a one and done scenario.

Another Mock Draft (The Athletic 2.0), another DL...

    28. Buffalo Bills: Darius Robinson, Edge, Missouri

The Bills tried to move up to get one of the top four receivers, but once that didn’t work, they had a deal in place to move down … that also fell through. Moving down would be preferred if the board played out this way. But with the depth of the receiver class, there is no reason to force the pick and take someone who doesn’t fit what the Bills need in an X receiver with speed to get over the top. Instead, they used their pick on another premium position and landed a long, versatile defensive lineman — a selection that had Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane written all over it. The vision is to eventually use Robinson as a starting defensive lineman who can play on either edge or inside at defensive tackle, depending on the situation. As a prospect, Robinson has been compared to Arik Armstead, whom the Bills were in on as a free agent. — Joe Buscaglia

Everyone wanted a better offense and claims the defense doesn’t show up during the playoffs thus they shouldn’t put resources into it. Well you got what you wanted. Stop bitching.  Let’s see if we can out score everyone.

Where exactly has the offense improved? By adding the Foreskins ' #3 WR and some guy no one has heard of?

    On the OL?

Genuinely curious where the improvement came from

WR1 is absolutely a dire need.

WR2 has been a dire need for years and ignored.

Now Diggs is approaching WR2 status and the WR is still lacking a true WR1.

I like Beane … but his refusal to address the WR room has been painfully consistent.

I too think Diggs is done. He was invisible the final third of the season and the postseason

To get this out of the way: this isn't me claiming that I have any special juice about what's going in the war room. It also isn't an absolute path. If a player who has been forecasted in the top 10-15 is there for the taking in the 20s, I am even for a (reasonable) trade up. If Jared Verse, Brian Thomas or Adonai Mitchell (make your pick of who you think WR4 in the draft is) or whoever you think is an instant game wrecker, you take them.

However, as is often the case, I am seeing a bit of a glut around pick 20 on most mocks and Big Boards where plays transition from Week 1 Gamechanger to Week 1 Effective Starter. The truth is, with Beane at work, I don't think that there are any massive glaring immediate needs on the roster: Curtis Samuel can play outside enough that it's not critically dire. Epenesa, Groot and Miller are (in theory) a recent starting DE rotation. They have plenty of depth at LB, have theoretical starters in the secondary, the O-line is mostly intact, RB room is pretty full, and TE doesn't need more reinforcement.

Basically, while I think there are several places where the Bills could upgrade, there is at least a theoretical veteran that a rookie would need to take the job from. However, a lot of those contracts are short term, set to expire by 2026 and the team is already over the cap for 2025. If we can't get a gamewrecker, would we say no to another 3rd or 4th round pick if Beane lets someone trade in from the back end?

No needs on the roster? That's a rosy outlook. TE is set. WR is severely undermanned. RB is ok, QB is above average, OL IS THIN. DL isn't great, LB is ok, CB is good but lacks depth, safety is a tire fire.

Well, we knew this was coming. A "Re-Tool" of sorts. I think the Bills will have a mediocre year. I am more of a realist compared to posts above:

Miami - GOT STRONGER! Not sure what people are talking about here, but they added LB Jordyn Brooks, Center Aaron Brewer and CB Kendall Fuller not to mention Jonnu Smith at TE. Those are all above average players making them pretty strong. But... Tua. We will see but I think the Phins give us a tough run this year.

Then we have Steelers, KC, TEXANS, even Titans got stronger. Jets quietly had a good offseason so far too. If Rogers can play well, they will be a tough out. They beat us last year. Cincy and the Browns will be strong too.

So, I expect no playoffs or a first round loss. This Bills team has way too many holes, new coaches in important spots and a general feeling of swiss cheese.

    I hope I'm wrong.

You're not. People here are kinda blinkered TBH. Window securely closed

Look who got paid this offseason - WR, yes, but DTs and Guards. The Rams just gave 2 above average guards a combined 35m/year. Quality DTs are now well over 20m, pushing to 30.

The game evolves. Interior pass rush is the best way to disrupt today's stud QB's.

There is nothing wrong with taking a DT in the 1st round re: positional value. For a team like us, going DT then WR could make sense with the depth of the class.

I still like WR 1st but it will depend how it all falls. Great WRs regularly come out of the 2nd round. What's the gap between WR 6 and WR 11?

A lot less speed and less reliable hands
