Up till this year Bass was solid kicking with Haack holding. There were some problems with Bojo, but not as bad as this past year.
Again what is the evidence that Martin is the cause for Bass”s struggles this year? You are simply claiming this as true- 1

"so many high-end draft prospects choosing to stay in school"... that's pretty funny. Too busy with their studies, no doubt.
Jr. may be the next Ted Ginn. Hope he enjoys the desert--and being thrown to by an injury prone dwarf.

The last 3 or 4 weeks of season he kicked decent, before that was never great
And you know this how exactly?
A couple years ago posters were blaming Bojo, now Martin? What's the common denominator?
What's the evidence that Martin provided bad holds?

Minimal cap saving of around 1.25m on a cut is now out. Good news is it seems like anyone worrying that Matt Haack was anything but a Camp Leg probably no longer needs to worry.
Do you need a "camp leg" punter??

Bass's problems did not include his holder

Doesn’t seem like a McD type. Exceptional talent that I think could still be great….but I don’t think he’ll ever put in the effort to get there. He takes way too many plays off effort wise.
He can hang with Von...

At 10m you could get a fringe top 5 center, or settle for a not even top 5 WR2Even so, it’d be less than 10m in cap savings compared to a mediocre wr being the same (and a top guy being 25m)
1st round has to be an impact player. That excludes Center.

Not one stadium and arena project once the Buffalo team started building it didn’t open on time. Buffalo is number one we should all take a tip of the hat that we are very good at getting stadium and arena construction projects done and open on time.Hymark was built in 1973. Key Bank arena in 1996....

Not that I want Sanders kid on the team, but his words do tend to have a lot of influence on college players in general.
Other than the ones who want to go to Colorado, who does he have a lot of influence over?

Good thing few games are actually played in crap weather...

Trubisky was 2-5 as a starter for the Steelers, Pickett was 14-11. I mean both are mediocre at best right now, but Trubisky has fallen off the cliff in quality.

- The Steelers were 7-3 when Pickett started and finished the game last season. He had wins over playoff teams such as Baltimore, Cleveland and the Rams. He threw for over 200 yards in 60% of his games.
- They were 0-3 with Trubisky starting. All of those losses came against non-playoff teams. He threw for over 200 yards in 0% of his games.
Splitting a ***** hair. Pickett had 24 starts, 13 TDs.
It's like saying he was the tallest dwarf in QB room full of dwarfs.

what? no "innocent until proven guilty" over here??
Quick!--throw a Bills jersey on him!

9 of 11 are day 3 picks. 4 are 6th/7th round.
What's the move up value?

No, not at all. But for the little bitty bit they got for him, I think they could have just kept him on the roster to see what happens and whether someone would make them a better offer.
It seems there was little market for Fields, given how cheaply he traded for.
You can't have the failed 1st rounder/franchise savior sitting on the bench behind the next 1st rounder/franchise savior...

If the Steelers don't make big investments in their offensive line, Russ Wilson will be too busy running for his life to develop anyone.
Pickett, a 2022 1st round Pick #20 and a 4th for a 3rd round pick and 2 7th round picks
Fields, a 2021 1st round Pick #11 for a 6th round pick that could become a 4th if he plays
Kinda looks like the Steelers sold high and bought low, but Wow! QBs don't get much time to develop in this day and age.
I think if I were a Bears fan, I'd be kind of pissed.
You think the Bears fans would be pissed to get Caleb Williams over Justin Fields?

Atlanta for sure, assuming Cousins is fully formed.
Baltimore doubling down on the best running game in the league doesn't move the needle for them. At some point, they need to rely on Lamar as a throwing QB in the playoffs. He's awful that time of year.

If a team doesn't find itself a franchise QB -- somebody on the level of Flacco or Cousins in their prime or a Tua or Purdy -- they have virtually no shot at anything beyond maybe backing into a wildcard berth and being 1 and done. Statistically, about half of the QBs taken in the first round of any draft fail to become franchise QBs despite being given every opportunity (sometimes multiple ones) to do so. For QBs taken on Day 2 or 3 of the draft, the chances are miniscule. Finding a franchise QB is finding the proverbial needle in a haystack, which is why teams like the Browns and Broncos mortgaged their futures to grab "proven" ones.
The Stillers have grabbed a "proven" QB as well as a young QB who has shown some flashes for practically nothing in terms of what other teams have spent to acquire one of either type. It may not work out but if it doesn't, they aren't shackled by their gambles.
I always liked Russell Wilson, so I hope that you are right. I would like to see Russ take the Stillers (my second favorite team) to the AFC Conference Championship game only to lose to the Bills in January.
True.
Chicago's 1st round QB disasters seem to find their way to Pittsburgh for a brief time...or two.

After seeing Wilson the last few years, why is acquiring him potentially a sage move but trading pennies for Fields a joke? This isn't the Russell Wilson of 2011-2020 for Seattle. Make it make sense
Wilson is better than anyone the Steelers had last year, which goes without saying. So the benefit of the move is intuitive.
but…
If he busts, and the fans then have to suffer while the Steelers figure out why the Bears dumped Fields, well then it was a predictable error.
In summary, based on what we have seen of them, the possibility that Wilson plays well is higher than the likelihood that Fields will be a much better replacement.
