Wrex Ryan may have never walked through the door in 2015, so Russ Brandon would never have had the chance to ply him with wine so that he wouldn't leave the buiding. In that case, Doug Whaley may not have been a dead man walking in 2017, and Brandon Beane may not have been there to select Josh Allen in 2018. This whole butterfly effect from trading up would have ruined the most entertaining Bills football since the Kelly era!! I think the moral of this story is that you should NEVER trade up for good players. The peril of trading up for players that you covet just might be that you kill your future unicorn!! Davis was his best DRAFTED receiver, and he was average, all things considered. Can't say he evaluated Diggs who was an established veteran. It's one thing to bring in an FA. It's another to draft a dude.

Actually.....I read somewhere (and if you ask me for a link, answer is "I don't got it") the Bills faced one of the highest % of man coverage last season because Diggs for whatever reason was having uncharacteristic problems getting a clean release off press man and beating physical man coverage downfield, as he did in previous years, and that link you shared from PFF illustrates why....absolutely no one else on the team was beating it - not Harty, not Shakir, not Sherfield, not Davis vs 2020 and 2021 where IIRC we had one of the lowest rates of man coverage because our receivers would kill it and Josh would carve it up.

How did he do with Mahomes, Rodgers and Goff, not exactly stiffs there. My point, Watkins was way overrated, and was a terrible trade up and it was in what was considered a good WR class.

He traded for Diggs and got multiple all-pro seasons out of him! Gabe Davis had excellent production for a fourth (just look at fourth round receivers from the last decade and compare).

He didn't have Allen tossing him the ball. But regardless, we have a generational talent at QB. We won't see another QB of his skill in our lifetime on this team. I think you have to gamble and go for it. I'm all for trading up. I think having Allen at QB calls for it.

And one is 5'11 195 And one is 6'3 223 ... Give me the big dude all day everyday and twice in Sundays I want a guy who will come down with a tough catch That one was but for some reason it was marked 2023 season but it was from the 2022 season So the numbers I used were from two seasons ago I cannot find 2023 numbers... And unless I watch every snap to see how many times he was pressed and how he beat it... I can't give a real assessment other than he's always been good at beating press So I doubt he just became horrible even if he regressed

You know, i was the biggest supporter of just letting the board fall to us and see what's left, but i'm leaning towards swinging for the fences this year. I mean, what we've been doing hasn't been working to get us over the hump, so let's try something different. Here's what i'm thinking.......i think i would rather swing for the fences or swing for that homerun and have a miss, than not swing at all or just go after middle of the road, mediocre and take no step forward in the team's progression. Stagnant is stagnant, no matter how you cut it. We gotta elevate this team to the next level and that's why i'm kind of leaning a little more to making a splash this draft.
