Were We Running Into a Stacked Box?

Yes if you can block up that 8-man box a guy like cook doesn't need much room to operate Everybody just needs to execute though -

Were We Running Into a Stacked Box?

Here is a cut up of an example of how a condensed formation, this with a heavy personnel, is intentionally clogging the box. Here we see a heavy formation out of 22 personnel (Hawes, Knox, Gilliam, Cook). This is essentially a weak side mid zone that almost pops. We are 8 v 8 here in the box, and if Knox can get his head across the safety who rolls in late (with the motion) it’s Cook vs Corner and a lot of green grass to work with. The flow here in the zone is perfect. Everybody working in unison here, good double to the inside backer and Gilliam with a nice seal on the edge. The scheme here is exactly what I’ve been referencing up thread. They are intentionally bringing bodies to the party, but this is what happens when 1 guy doesn’t execute. It gets blown up and we think the scheme is bad. Nothing wrong here with this design IMO, in fact, I really like it. I just don’t like the 17 million dollar player getting beat across his face. -

Inflation hits home! More specifically, hits the basement. Between that and the potential disruption to my air travel, I'm about to go all J6. -
Big thank you to all who have served! The rest of us are forever indebted to you all. Happy Veterans Day!

To answer the question…..not very far.

I’m not saying Marino is correct or not. 🤷🏻♂️

What I don't understand is why this defense, with a defensive head coach, is so bad at tackling. I mean, what could be more fundamental and (correct me if I'm wrong) easy to learn?

UB better win tomorrow (Wednesday night) or their Bowl outlook will be dismal!

Let’s go with Belichick at HC, Gruden at OC, and Leslie Frazier at DC. Show these young whippersnapper coaches how it’s done. -

Were We Running Into a Stacked Box?

Running game comes down to the fronts that you're being shown ..whether you're in a zone or man blocking scheme the front or the shift of the defensive line can change your assignment Throughout practice since training camp their man or zone blocking schemes adjust based on the shift of the defensive line or how they're aligned If the dolphins were throwing some looks that they haven't really prepared for.. It could throw off their execution.. the line is a symbiotic unit It's five people working as one... If they're all not seeing the same thing it could leave it slightly discombobulated Now that it's on tape they can go to the film room and tell the O line this is how you have to execute against this front... There could be a lot of reasons there not executing to full potential.. my father instantly was talking about the heat and how it's a different animal -

My biggest question is even with the speed added to the roster; will Brady use it? I have loved our 13 personnel look with the talent we have at TE, but with Kincaid not available what the Bills can do out of those looks becomes more limited. The Bills should lean more into the WRs with speed they already have on the roster and run with more 11 and 12 personnel. We have to get teams to pay for how often they are not using any safety help over top allowing them (especially on early downs) to play the run and hem Allen in the pocket. That probably starts with getting Keon off the field. Not everything is this young man's fault, but he has not done enough to earn the reps he has been given so that is the first change. They may want to use him to return kicks and punts like he did in college, but I don't know if he is still bought into the program. Things like this can really test a young player's pride and maturity. We need more of a true veteran X-receiver, and we have that in Palmer who I sincerely hope is healthy again. Moore should be in the lineup on the boundary, and then Shakir and Samuel can share snaps in the slot as they are pretty good at finding soft spots in the zone, both have RAC, both are pretty good with motion and screens. It those guys start making teams pay getting open and giving Allen more answers downfield then that will open things up for Cook too. We had a bad run game plan with Miami expecting more out of our zone runs and cutbacks and they were disciplined and took those cutback lanes away. The Bills coaching staff needs to have a better run game plan coming into the Tampa game but even if they do, it does not change the fact that the passing game needs to be fixed. Kincaid has proven he could be a dynamic piece of the Bills offense for years to come, but the thing that may get in the way of that is his penchant for missing games with injury. I have been really stoked that he and Allen seem to be on the same page this season, but the flip side of that is Allen looks lost when Kincaid is not out there.
