Game week thread - Chiefs at Bills (Video preview on pg. 19)

First I went back and edited the original post. What I meant to type was that we are currently in a rare era where we can seriously compete for the SB. My point is that I’m not sure division titles and home playoff wins will amount to much in the end to Bills fans. A Super Bowl is all that matters while we have Josh Allen. -
Gov Murphy is extremely unpopular in Jersey. Perhaps even more so than Trump. The 2021 governor election was much closer than predicted. My gut says it’s gonna be a really really close race.

Who ya got for a big day against KC?

I don't know that at this stage in his career Keon is able to succeed playing as a dedicated X against a good D, if that is what they intend. In terms of physical attributes, including a slow 40, I think of him like A. Boldin, who did line up outside. But Boldin came to the NFL as a more polished product after a successful career at FSU and was known to be a good route runner. Keon is raw as talents go, -

Is the Dane elevation Taron related? Considering he is a boundary player, idk how he factors into the equation if TJ can’t go. You’d likely get Cam Lewis at the nickel, so Danes elevation is just for pure DB numbers? Seems unnecessary since we’d already have Hairston Tre Ingram and Benford. Given the recent injuries and reoccurring issues at LB, I was expecting a depth elevation there. It’ll be Dorian and Andreesen fully healthy, with Bernard and Milano just returning from injury. Seems shallow but I suppose no much less so than boundary CB

What an absolute joke. After 4 weeks, the Bills were the class of the AFC, and the Chiefs were flailing. 4 games later, and this is the narrative? Makes me sick.

ESPN comments on Bills-Chiefs game

I expect the Bills to run a lot more man against the Chiefs than the 70% zone they showed this year. They tried to play straight man coverage in the playoff game with Kaiir Elam -
If we werent the walking IR squad I’d probably agree with this take.

used to be cj spiller the chief killer. but now the way to beat them is with kincaid/knox/hawes and coleman.

There are so many thoughts on this game and how it could go. And honestly, I can see just about every outcome myself. While I don't see a road to us blowing them out, I think every other outcome is on the table. A close win, a close loss, or a blowout loss. As I sit here now, I am leaning towards a probable loss. I just think we are too banged up and out of sync on offense to beat them. Could we win? Of course we can. It's football and these teams know each other so well. But I think that, as much as Brady downplays it, and Beane laughs it off, the need for a real WR (more like 2 real WRs) is just too glaring and I think there is a chance we really get exposed tomorrow on the outside. Not sure what Coleman's yardage number is, but I am hammering the under. He may catch a ball or 2, but it is going to be for modest yardage. A screen or 2.....maybe a slant if they are feeling frisky, but I see nothing for him down the field. And with Palmer out, we just don't have anyone they have to worry about down the field. Sure, Shakir could get a few balls, but I think the WR production, like it has pretty much all season, is going to be nonexistent. In the passing game, I think our success will have to be with our TEs and RBs. Unfortunately, Brady has forgotten about Cook as a receiver with no targets in the last 3 games and 1 in the last 4 or something like that. That's not going to get it done. But yeah....I see the Chiefs stacking the box to stop Cook, pressing our WRs, blitzing a ton forcing our WRs to have to win and win quick. And that is probably not going to go well if the last few weeks are any indication....and I think they are. However, while I don't have huge expectations for tomorrow, a lot can change by the end of the season. That said, I am using this game to give the Chiefs a taste of their own medicine. What usually happens in recent years is that we go all out during the regular season to do whatever it takes to pull out a win while the Chiefs seem to take what we do, formulate a plan, and change their approach in the Playoffs to show us stuff we didn't see in the regular season meeting. So, my plan is to do a little of that ourselves tomorrow. While it sounds like a terrible idea for our chances to win tomorrow, and it may seem like I am throwing him under the bus, I am having Babich call the entire game on defense. I don't want any input from McDermott. Just let Babich do what he wants and what happens, happens. BUT, in doing so, I am making the call now that McDermott calls the entire game in the Playoffs if/when we meet. It is very obvious that when McDermott calls the plays on defense, it looks much different on the field. So, save that for the Playoffs. Every time we play them in the Playoffs, we never show anything different. We do the same things we do in the regular season because we have had success against them, but the Chiefs are too good at adjusting. You almost need 2 entirely different game plans and approaches to have a chance so this is one way to do it. Will this happen? Of course not! I say all this is a semi-joking manner, but the premise is right. Whatever happens tomorrow.....win, loss, great defense, bad defense, great offense, bad offense, whatever it is.......flush it. Do something completely different in the Playoffs if we see them again. -
