Bills Utter Collapse-- Jim Kubiak BN
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall
My 2 cents is there is a contingent that believes Josh just needs to play better. I think they will be sorely disappointed to find out that problems are not always that simple. It also removes accountability from others who impact the passing game both directly and indirectly. -
Teams generally take on the identity of their coach. Fiery, inspirational coaches tend to have teams with a lot of heart. Milquetoast coaches who vacillate between being emotionless and panicking under high-stress moments? Well...

If your ready that with snark, there really was none intended. If you were insulted, that wasn't the goal. However, somehow, you still managed to miss the point entirely. Three times in your hypothesis, you lay the blame at McDermott's feet. You paint Coleman as a victim. At least that's how it sounded to me. The whole trope of "Oh something bad is going on...pin it on McDermott... somehow" is so overdone. Yes, we agree, he's immature. But you profess he's basically a rebellious teenager pushing back against perceived bad handling. My slant is he's immature because he's never been in a place where he has to work and doesn't know or care enough to do it. The blame should start and end with Coleman IMO.

Is Kubiak and Alan hater? This is the first time I'm looking at his analysis and I have to say I disagree with everything. That first route he shows the two defenders sit on the in routes and are clearly expecting it. It looks like a great read to avoid a pick six by Allen. There's literally nothing open on that play. To en route running the receiver right at the defender is dumb, Brady should have Shakir do an out or bench out there and then there might be someone open space. On the RPO it's perfectly defended by the dolphin. I'm not surprised Allen handed it off. They probably don't want him taking a lot of piss. it's just a dumb play call. There's just no one open on these routes and place. The offensive design is horrible.

I’m a big believer in “it’s never just one thing”, but I have a feeling that the team is seeing their dominance of the AFCE being challenged in a big way, and as a result, their expectation of just cruising into the playoffs is in jeopardy. They are feeling a different kind of pressure than they had when they were “on the rise” so to speak. My $.02

Battle for the Division: Bill and Pats remaining games poll.
mjt328 replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only games I'm somewhat confident the Bills will win are the Browns and Jets. From what I've witnessed this season, they don't stand much chance against the Bucs, Eagles or Patriots. I'll add the Bengals to that list, assuming Joe Burrow returns (and it's definitely looking that way). The Steelers and Texans are equally inconsistent with some strengths and some big flaws. I think it's fair to say we split them. So unless the Bills make a 180 degree turnaround in pretty much everything they are doing, I think this season is headed towards an epic collapse. My guess is a 9-8 finish with no playoffs. -
She is doing a Yoko Ono on our John Lennon!!

Not saying it has nothing to do with adjusting to married life or doing too many commercials or whatever else the narratives are but this is the worst supporting cast josh has ever had around him. In the past he’s had to put on the cape at certain times, this year, putting on the cape and making other worldly plays was the game plan starting in training camp. The weight of the entire organization and fan base is squarely on his shoulders and it’s starting to show. Beane has had multiple opportunities, trade deadline and otherwise to get him some kind of help but simply reverts back to talk against “mortgaging our future” and yelling at radio hosts. As much as I’ve loved every second of #17 in a bills uniform, I wouldn’t blame him one bit for wanting out.

Who do we want, who do we need as our next HC and, or GM?

So, at 6-3 many of you are calling for a complete overhaul. Do you think just maybe the rash of injuries leading to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string reserves taking the field on defense might have made the difference in at least 1 or 2 of the losses? If the record was 7-2 would you still be calling for a regime change? On offense, we're fortunate to have a good O-line and RB that stays healthy, but ironically, the passing game is now the offense's Achilles heal, even with an MVP QB. It's too late now, but in the offseason, the Bills need to do everything and anything to get Josh weapons that can be game-changers. Wideouts that can stretch the field and get separation. The 'everyone eats' nonsense is not the answer. Josh has maybe the worst group of WRs in the league. Shakir is a reliable weapon. Kincaid would be too if he could stay on the field. Is Joe Brady a problem? I suspect he wasn't ready to assume the role of coordinator for a team with super bowl aspirations. Reading the tea leaves, I'd say Babich may be taking a Fraser-style much needed break after this season. Enough with the on-the-job training of these coordinators. Get experienced minds to run the offense and defense. I don't think firing McDermott or Beane is the answer. It's a recipe for the revolving door of coaches that was such a joy during 'the drought'. Get healthy, get a stud WR somehow, and bring in experienced coordinators with winning track records. -

A lot of parallels with Allen and Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn in the cinematic classic "Major League II."

Who do we want, who do we need as our next HC and, or GM?
Kirby Jackson replied to jaybeezee's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe not. The old Kiffin would have already taken one of these jobs. I do think he goes to Florida but the timing may not work if Ole Miss keeps advancing. He won’t jump ship early this time IMO. He has outgrown that. -

You want to just keep spinning the tires so to speak. These guys are not Superbowl quality they don't know the formula. They will ruin Allen career until he asks for a trade. -
His scheme CAN be sound but he makes some dumb decisions too. And the WR are not great, but the easy and wrong answer is that they are so bad the offense cannot have an effective passing game. It can if Allen plays within himself and the system. Not really depressing at all.

I don't really think we realize this sometimes. Like Kneeland.. he was struggling we just thought he was a football player -

I think Lane, post-Saban is a different guy. He’s still a punk but this teams needs a little more of that. That’s one of the qualities that I most desire in the next HC. They’ve lost their edge. They’re better when they’re fiery. That’s certainly true for Josh. Sober Kiffin is a much more mature guy. He’s still a sarcastic jackass but he’s a different dude. He has developed into a really good leader and a winner. The Joey Freshwater days are over. Kiffin is one of the best football coaches in the world IMO. I suspect he goes to Florida but would love him paired with Josh. That’s the best path to a Super Bowl IMO. I do like Kubiak too and would be open to him. As someone that has wanted McDermott gone for a while, I’m open to a lot of alternatives. A new voice is necessary to get to the next step and the clock is ticking. With that being said Gruden isn’t an alternative for me. He’s a bad football coach. -
I think his struggle this year is about 3 things 1. He doesn't have targets that get open. I saw on another thread he actually has the longest "time before he throws" in his career. That's gotta be frustrating to have your internal clock winding down and no on to throw to time and time again. I don't think he's had this little talent around him since Wyoming. 2. This is resulting in him seeing more pressure and far more hits in the pocket than he's had before. Those hits add up and force him to leave a clean pocket because, again he know he's held the ball too long because no one is open. 3. He's lost faith in something. Be it the skill level of the players around him or maybe Joe Brady and his offense. Maybe it's the things he's asked to do are things you ask a normal QB like Mac Jones to do and he's bored. But he, at least to my eyes, doesn't seem as invested with what is happening on the field as he was. Then, you can add in some outside things. Getting married is a huge life change. Realizing you're more than "just a ball player" and thinking, hey, Super Bowl or not...life goes on. Forces someone to look ahead a bit.

Bills Utter Collapse-- Jim Kubiak BN
Coffeesforclosers replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall
Welp, that's quite the indictment of Josh (who is untouchable) and McDermott (who is untouchable for now). Brady's scheme is sound and the WRs aren't the problem. Quite honestly the most depressing thing I've read today. The fish is rotting from the head. -
Does anyone else think that limiting Cook might have been intentional because he injured his ankle the previous week?

Coaches are heavily implying that Coleman isn’t trying on the field
finn replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Take away your snark and you're just repeating my take, that Coleman is an immature player who regressed when his coach benched him. Somehow you managed to be derivative and insulting at the same time, not easy to pull off. -
He is frustrated but listen to his pressers. A lot of that is frustration with himself. After 3 games where he didn't play well he has an outstanding performance against KC and then right back to this. He isn't playing terrible football overall but he can't find that consistency he had last year and while I am sure he is frustrated at what is around him - especially at receiver - he is frustrated with himself too. I think that is obvious. Yea Josh knows some of this is on him. And he wants to be better. He just can't find his level at the moment with any consistency and that is eating at him.

But that take is just wrong if you look at the All-22. Everyone wants to blame the receivers-- and that is now gospel that they suck-- but they are hardly all of the problem. Josh had plays with easy throws to open guys for first downs--looking right at them-- and did not make the throw. Inexplicable.

Don't be shocked it he retires to be a husband vs QB. Remember he said something about he showing him he is more than just a QB. Remember, she means more than normal to him. He was sneaking around with hailee while still with Brittney so she has a big hold on our boy
