WGR

Opinion: Capaccio: Arrow Up/Arrow Down: Dolphins at Bills

‘The Bills came into the game as the 32nd ranked team in the NFL in yards per run allowed. That continued with the Dolphins running 19 times for 142 yards, an average of 7.1 per rush.’

Opinion: Dolphins at Bills: Sal’s keys, notes and stats

‘The Bills will need to disrupt that timing and rhythm and force Tagovailoa to go to his second and third reads. If they can do that, it will give their pass rush a chance to get to him, even just by causing incompletions if not sacks.’

Bills to be without Jordan Poyer on Sunday against Dolphins

‘According to Bills head coach Sean McDermott during his weekly appearance on the “Extra Point Show” on Friday, safety Jordan Poyer will not play, as he continues to battle, what has been considered as knee soreness at practice all week.’

McDermott excited for challenge Dolphins offense will present

‘”You’ve gotta go in there with those types of goals to sack [Tua Tagovailoa], but also with the expectation to effect him by getting your hands up, and affecting him in different ways that you can,” said McDermott on WGR with Sal Capaccio and Joe DiBiase. “It’s not always gonna result in a sack, because he does get the ball out extremely fast.”‘

McDermott believes Bills’ youth are gaining valuable experience

‘”Similar to ‘TB’ [Terrel Bernard], he’s matured beyond his years,” said McDermott on Thursday in his chat with the media before practice. “He’s still a young player, so it’s refreshing to be around a player, a young man like that, that comes in, in a humble way, and is very focused on what he needs to do and how he needs to get it done.”‘

Jordan Poyer remains out for Bills, others return to Thursday’s practice

‘Starting safety Jordan Poyer and long snapper Reid Ferguson were the only players on the active roster who did not practice. Poyer continues to deal with knee soreness, while, Ferguson was not participating with a wrist injury.;

Tyler Bass named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month

‘To start the 2023 season, Bass led all AFC kickers with 31 points. He’s been perfect to this point of the year, converting all 10 extra point attempts and going 7-for-7 on his field goal attempts.’

McDermott knows Dolphins are explosive, a handful to prepare for

‘”They are all as advertised,” said McDermott ahead of Wednesday’s practice. “They’re explosive, anybody that touches the ball can score. Whether it’s what you think is gonna be a two-yard run, turns into a crease and a gasher. Same thing with the passing game. Coach [Mike] McDaniel does a good job of moving guys around, creating different styles of offense. It’s a handful.”‘

Hyde, Poyer sit out of Wednesday’s practice

‘Safeties Micah Hyde (hamstring) and Jordan Poyer (knee soreness), along with cornerback Siran Neal (ankle) all set out Wednesday’s session. Meanwhile, cornerback Taron Johnson was limited with a hip injury.’

Terrel Bernard named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

‘Bernard was all over the field for the Bills in their 37-3 win over the Commanders. The 24-year-old racked up a team-high seven total tackles, two tackles for a loss, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery in the victory.’

Opinion: Bills grades: Week 3 at Commanders

‘Zero sacks, only one quarterback hit recorded. That is the elite work from a Bills offensive line that has been improving markedly since their Week 1 struggles against the New York Jets. Their play alone was enough to mark this as an A-.’

McDermott says Dolphins offense is ‘almost revolutionary’

‘”They have unreal team speed on the offensive side. That’s really where my focus has been the last hour or two,” said McDermott during his weekly Zoom call with the local media on Monday. “It seems like they added to it this offseason.”‘

Opinion: Ophelia, what went wrong?

‘Howell’s tendency to hold onto the ball a little bit longer was not a great idea against this Bills defense. The third quarter started with a nice looking Washington drive, but then the Bills’ pass rush got to Howell again, helping force a third interception. This time, it came from cornerback Tre’Davious White in the end zone.’

Bills defense demolishes Commanders in Washington

‘While Buffalo’s offense was efficient for a large portion of Sunday’s contest, it was the defense coming up with a dominating performance, forcing five Washington turnovers and even scoring a touchdown in a 37-3 victory.’

McDermott happy to see splash plays from Buffalo defense

‘”There were sometimes we were there rather quick, and there were times there was a little bit of a rush, and coverage partnering together like they need to in order to get the quarterback to hold the ball and create opportunities for our defensive line,” said McDermott following his team’s 37-3 win over the Commanders.’
