McDermott: Prescott, Cowboys offense playing with clarity

‘”Credit to coach [Mike] McCarthy and Brian Schottenheimer, their offensive coordinator. It looks like [Prescott’s] playing with just more clarity. Maybe they’re keeping it simpler for them, I don’t really know,” said McDermott during his weekly appearance on the “Extra Point Show” on WGR. “He just seems like he’s more comfortable in the system or comfortable in the pocket, knowing where he wants to go with the ball. Then on top of that, he uses his legs well when he needs to – third downs and red zone, two-minute, in particular.”‘

Epenesa, Hyde miss practice for second-straight day

‘The Thursday injury report had both edge rusher A.J. Epenesa (ribs) and safety Micah Hyde (stinger) as not practicing for the second-straight day.’

Bills open 21-day practice window for wide receiver Justin Shorter

‘Defensive end A.J. Epenesa, who suffered a rib injury in last Sunday’s 20-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, along with safety Micah Hyde, who suffered another neck/stinger injury in the contest, were unable to practice.’

Opinion: Bills grades: Week 14 at Chiefs

‘It took three weeks and a very stout Kansas City defense to see some of the inconsistencies of the Bills offense appear again.’

McDermott appreciative of continued support from organization, community

‘”It meant a lot to me. It really did,” said McDermott on Monday during his Zoom call with the media. “First-and-foremost, it meant a lot the way that the players and staff came together and played and coached, and just kept it about the game. I think that in the midst of everything that was going on last week for us, as a team, was impressive to watch and to see. And the support that I’ve gotten, like I’ve said, from in-house, from outside across the NFL community has been just super gratifying, and much appreciated on our part.”‘

A.J. Epenesa, Micah Hyde considered ‘week-to-week’

‘Epenesa made a huge play early in the game when he batted a ball into the air and ultimately intercepted Patrick Mahomes. He was injured on the play and came out of the game for a brief time. Although he re-entered the game, he then exited again and didn’t return.’

Opinion: Bills defense finally comes up big

‘Recent history is why I had no faith in that unit. Four times this season, the defense could not hold on to a fourth quarter lead, with three of those contests inside the final two minutes of regulation. All four games resulted in losses to the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles.’

Bills hold off Chiefs to keep playoff hopes alive

‘The Bills kicked off to start the game and the Chiefs took the field for their first offensive drive. Bills edge rusher, AJ Epenesa, tipped a pass from Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and grabbed it out of the air for an interception.’

McDermott: ‘I wanted to be aggressive. That’s how we practiced during the week.”‘

‘”Praise God, number one. I mean, just the staff, the players, [were] steadfast in their focus. I couldn’t be more proud of a group at this point in the regular season.” McDermott later added, “To a person, they didn’t flinch. They were focused. They supported one-another. They supported me, and I don’t take that for granted at all.”‘

Allen: ‘Wasn’t the prettiest of wins’

‘”Wasn’t the prettiest of wins, we all know that,” said Allen following the win with the assembled media. “There’s a lot to clean up, but the defense played fantastic. They went out there and made a two minute stop, which was great to see. They played great all night.”‘

Opinion: Capaccio: Arrow Up/Arrow Down: Bills at Chiefs

‘With the game tied and the Bills with a first down at the Chiefs 22 yard line with 2:12 remaining, they attempted a wide receiver screen, which fell incomplete and stopped the clock, saving the Chiefs a timeout. Then on the next play, with 2:10 left, Allen threw deep, but that was also incomplete, once again stopping the clock. Instead of getting the game to the two minute warning after one play, they allowed the Chiefs much more time when they finally received the ball after the Bills ultimately kicked a field goal.’

Opinion: Capaccio: Bills at Chiefs: Sal’s keys, notes and stats

‘Too many times this season, including the team’s last game when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 37-34 in overtime, the Bills defense has had a chance to close out the game or make a big stop towards the end to maintain the lead, but failed to do so.’

Running back Isiah Pacheco ruled out against Bills

‘The Kansas City Chiefs will be without their starting running back and leading rusher against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.’

McDermott: Focus is key coming out of bye week against Chiefs

‘”They’ve played well at times, maybe not as productive as people would expect them to, but when you look at games they’re in every game. Again credit to Patrick Mahomes and Coach Reid and their ability to come back even when they’ve fallen behind and the few games they have.”‘

Bills offense finding itself / McDermott Apology

‘While it hasn’t been perfect in those games, it’s certainly been much better and more productive. Wide receiver Gabe Davis, who caught six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in that 37 to 34 overtime loss to the Eagles, wouldn’t say that the office is fully back to where it needs to be, but definitely feels better about where it’s been as of late. I think we’ve kind of found ourselves a little bit,” Davis said after Thursday’s practice in the cold and drizzling rain outside the ADPRO Sports Training Center.’
