‘That put the onus on Cutler and he just wasn’t up to the task. Cutler, who outplayed Tom Brady in a stunning win over the New England Patriots six days earlier, looked more like the Jay Cutler who has produced a .500 record in his not so illustrious NFL career. He flat out missed guys on a handful of throws including overthrows on deep balls where his target was open. One of those overthrown deep balls ended up in the hands of Jordan Poyer, one of three interceptions for the Bills defense.’

‘The reason the Bills were able to hold their lead was Cutler. In the second half, he threw passes that were so far off, they were intercepted. Jordan Poyer and Shareece Wright stopped drives with picks and Tre’Davious White came up with the biggest interception of the game.’

‘I’m not exactly sure what or why it is, but for some reason Taylor has some of his best games against the Dolphins. Sunday was no exception. He was on the mark, made good decisions, and a key reason why the offense was able to have arguably its best first half performance all season. He finished the game 17-for-29 for 224 yards, 1 TD pass and no interceptions. But it was the QB’s poise in the pocket, decision-making, inability to extend plays as he usually does that made a big difference. If there was any question about his knee injury impacting him in this one, he answered it. It didn’t.’

‘LB Preston Brown had 13 tackles in last meeting.’

‘Rookie Nathan Peterman, who started in Taylor’s place last week, remains in the league’s concussion protocol. McDermott has not ruled out the possibility of Peterman being cleared in time to be Taylor’s backup. But if he’s not, Joe Webb will by the team’s backup quarterback Sunday.’

‘“He couldn’t get back to total health this year overall,” McDermott told reporters prior to Friday’s practice. “We just felt like at this time it was right to move forward getting him totally healthy and ready to go for that offseason program.”’

‘Bills’ quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Nathan Peterman were both full participants in Thursday’s practice, although Peterman remains in the league’s concussion protocol and head coach Sean McDermott still hasn’t committed to Taylor being ready to play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.’

‘“It’s a little bit challenging,” McDermott said about the quarterback situation. “That said, we’ve faced challenges all year. The biggest thing for us is the communication around it, making sure we’re up to the minute on the updates with the heath of the quarterback position and I’m confident we’ll be fine.”’

‘“We inserted him in the starting lineup (Sunday), and he did a terrific job,” Frazier said. “We plan on, barring anything happening this week in practice, him starting again against our next opponent, Miami.”’

‘A tie Sunday would have left the Bills 6-6-1, and it’s possible McDermott’s alleged information convinced him that 9-6-1 was attainable, and that that record is probably good enough for the playoffs. In my mind, a tie Sunday would have meant a tie in the easiest game on the Bills’ schedule, and that they’d finish no better than 8-7-1.’

‘QB Tyrod Taylor, who was inactive with a knee injury: Has “made progress over the last couple of days.” McDermott called him day-to-day as of now. The head coach said “there was a chance” Taylor was going to play Sunday, but wasn’t able to. The decision was mostly health related but the field conditions were a part of the equation, as well. McDermott reiterated that Taylor is the team’s starting QB when healthy.’

‘”You look at it from all different angles, obviously you want to win first, that’s what you want to do. You certainly don’t want to lose. You want to win and the second best thing you can do in that situation is tie. I’d rather win than tie and I’d rather tie than lose.”‘

‘”It was just wild, we were having conversations that we never have during a game like should we try to run the ball through the deep part of the snow so that they can’t adjust well?”‘

‘Yes, it was a weirdly memorable day.’

‘Peterman played as well as you could in the whiteout conditions at New Era Field. Peterman left the game after taking a helmet to helmet hit in the 3rd quarter. At the time the Bills led 7-0. Joe Webb came in relief at quarterback, and helped secure the win in overtime over the Colts.’
