Bills take A.J. Epenesa with their first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft

‘Epenesa was thought, by many, to be a first round talent, but fell to the 22nd pick of the second round before the Bills selected him. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder led the Big Ten in sacks in 2018 (10.5) and finished third last season (11.5). He ranks sixth all-time in the conference with 26.5 career sacks. Epenesa also finished 10th in the Big Ten with 14 tackles for loss last season.’

2020 NFL Draft scouting report: A.J. Epenesa – Buffalo Bills

‘Epenesa, who struggled at the NFL Combine, but was a force in Iowa’s defense the last three years, leading the Big Ten in sacks his sophomore season and put up equally impressive numbers as a starter this past year as a junior.’

Bills select running back Zack Moss in the third round of the NFL Draft

‘The 5-foot-9, 223-pound Moss is an aggressive, downhill runner, who not only doesn’t shy away from contact, but seems to welcome it. He’s tough to bring down, especially for smaller defensive backs once he gets going in the open field. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein described Zack Moss’ running style as “like watching an exercise in controlled violence on just about every carry.”‘

Capaccio: Round 2 mock

’54.) Buffalo Bills: Curtis Weaver – EDGE – Boise State.’

These 40 players should be gone before the Bills pick at No. 54

‘In other words, if you see a player’s name on this list, I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high that the Bills will be able to select him at No. 54. I’m also not predicting these are the first 40 players to be drafted, but rather the 40 most likely to go within the first 53 picks.’

Capaccio: Final 2020 Mock Draft

’54. Buffalo Bills – Curtis Weaver, EDGE, Boise State.’

Geary: 2020 NFL Mock Draft No. 2

’54.) Buffalo Bills: Julian Okwara – EDGE – Notre Dame.’

Owens enjoyed his one season with the Bills in 2009

‘”There was a lot of speculation, even with the recruiting process of me coming to the Bills. I remember my agent at the time – we didn’t have a lot of offers, obviously because of my age and things of that nature. One of the things that he came back to me with was that they can’t guarantee you a starting spot. I didn’t have a problem with that, and I think that was one of the concerns based on the perceptions throughout the course of my career. I never demanded through my agent or any information that I would come in and I demand the No. 1 spot and that nature. I was like, ‘Is that their only concern?’ He said yes, and I didn’t have a problem with that. I said I’d come in, I’d work and compete for the position.”‘

How should the Bills attack the draft?

‘I still think the Bills should draft a receiver at some point because after Diggs, John Brown and Cole Beasley, you can basically take the rest of the names and throw them in a hat. Wide receiver is the deepest position in the draft, and on Day 3 the Bills could still find a player to make the 53-man roster and compete for the fourth spot on the depth chart. In addition, Brown has two years left on his contract and Beasley has three. It never hurts to think down the road when it comes to the depth chart.’

Bills the betting favorite to land Leonard Fournette

‘However, things have not gone so smoothly for Fournette since his rookie year, where he rushed for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns and was one of the top rookies of 2017. He missed half of the 2018 season due to injury, and has reportedly frustrated some people in the Jacksonville organization with his lack of work ethic and maturity.’

Three running backs who could fit the Bills at pick No. 54

‘There are some interesting arguments both for and against it. Devin Singletary had a really good rookie season and figures to be the No. 1 back this season. But would the Bills consider another young back to pair with him, or even create competition for the top-role? Even if they are searching for a complement to Singletary, is that player’s playing time and are his carries going to be enough to justify using such a high selection on him, especially after the team also traded a first round pick for wide receiver Stefon Diggs and may be looking to throw the ball more, leaving even less carries and targets available for Singletary and any other back?’

Three offensive tackles that could fit the Bills at pick No. 54

‘Adding another OT in the second round this year would make a lot of sense. If Ford continues to struggle at RT, Buffalo is going to need a plan B. Even if Ford does OK on the outside, adding another prospect would give Buffalo optionality as Ford was also used as a guard last summer. Depth up front is a big need . The Bills top backup OT, Ty Nsekhe is going to be 35 by next fall.’

Bills set to begin offseason program Monday, virtually

‘Phase one is normally just a conditioning phase with only strength and conditioning coaches who have no other coaching responsibilities allowed on the field with players. But there will be no on-field work this year due to the modified rules, and according to the memo, team facilities will only open “in conformity with federal, state and local rules and regulations” and if “one or more club facilities remain closed for any period of time, all club facilities must remain closed during that period.”’

Three safeties who could fit the Bills at pick No. 54

‘The Bills could certainly upgrade many backup jobs across the lineup, but adding another safety would add a player with a legitimate role in 2020.’

Three wide receivers who could fit the Bills at pick No. 54

‘This wide receiver draft class is considered to be one of the best all-time both in terms of top-end talent and depth. That means there could be several enticing players still on the board when the Bills are scheduled to make their first selection, at pick No. 54. If Beane were to add ye another wideout with that pick Friday night, here are a few names that could fit the Bills…’.
