‘When you consider how many detractors Josh Allen had when he was taken No. 7 overall by the Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft, Daboll deserves tremendous credit for helping develop Allen into being one of the sport’s most complete quarterbacks. Most teams looking for head coaches tend to either have a young quarterback or a draft pick they plan to use on a quarterback, so Daboll projects to be one of the most appealing coaching candidates this offseason. The 45-year-old has worked under Sean McDermott since the 2018 season, and also has experience on the staffs of Bill Belichick and Nick Saban.’

McDermott: Would hate losing Daboll or Frazier, but ‘would highly recommend both of them’
‘”I think they’ve both done a phenomenal job. I’d hate to lose either of them, but I would highly recommend both of them that they’re ready to take the next step. I think they’ve show that they can lead and do the coordinator job at a high level, both of them. You’d hate to lose both of those guys, but when you win and you have sustained success like we’ve been able to have the last two seasons, that’s what happens.”‘
Zack Moss: Josh Allen can throw a football 100-plus yards
‘”His arm is just— I mean, he has a top-five arm… he’s super strong, and he knows how to use his body to help him get a lot of throws off and stuff like that, so I would say 100-plus.”‘
Josh Allen named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
‘With his sixth-career AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor, Allen moves past Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas (five) for the second-most Offensive Player of the Week awards in Bills history. He just trails Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly for the most in team history with 10.’
Bills’ plan to have 6,700 fans at playoff games under review
‘Cuomo said on Tuesday that the New York State Department of Health was looking at an “experimental model” that would allow fans back at Bills Stadium this winter. He explained that the state is working with the Bills, and that it’s all a work in progress.’
McCoy: Trade from Philadelphia to Buffalo ‘hurt me a little bit deep’
‘”Those were some of my best years. Just from the city, the team. I live an hour away from Philadelphia so that was always like home to me. Lot of my most memorable moments and great times are from the Philadelphia area. I played with so many great players there like Mike Vick, [Brian] Westbrook, [DeSean Jackson], [Jeremy] Maclin, I could name guys forever. Philadelphia was always a special, special place. When I got traded, it hurt me a little bit deep. Andy Reid has always been great to me and my family. He took a shot on me in the second round and it worked out. Very thankful and grateful for that.”‘
State health department looking at ‘experimental model’ to bring Bills fans to stadium next month
‘“We are talking to the Bills,” Cuomo said. “We are researching teams and protocols across the nation. The Department of Health is looking at an ‘experimental model’ of working with data and testing to see if there’s any way we could safely allow some fans into the game. We’re working with the Bills. It’s all a work in progress.”’
Buffalo Bills billboard pops up near Gillette Stadium
‘This billboard is a result of Bills fans winning the NFL on FOX “Ultimate Fan Bracket” back on Twitter before the 2020 season in September. As a result, Bills fans were awarded a billboard that could be placed anywhere in the world, and, of course, they chose Foxborough, Massachusetts.’
Allen, Diggs among five Bills named to Pro Bowl
‘Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there is no actual Pro Bowl game this year. Instead, there will be week-long virtual event with celebrities, NFL Legends, current players, and streamers playing as the Pro Bowl rosters on the Madden NFL 21 video game. Therefore, players on the Super Bowl teams could still take part.’
Opinion: The Big Picture: Feel good, Buffalo!
‘We’ve always sat back and watched parade-after-parade-after-parade in all these other places. I think about that little kid sometimes in Boston who shows up to all of their championship parades with his sign that says how many times his teams have won a title since he’s been born. It’s nauseating.’
Fans at Bills playoff game? ‘The issue here is the tailgate party’
‘”Large gatherings should concern everyone,” said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo over the weekend and after the “Bills Mafia” turned out by the thousands at the airport to welcome home the AFC East champs.’
Cartoonist draws Josh Allen digging the Patriots’ grave following AFC East berth
‘Following Saturday’s win, Adam Zyglis – a cartoonist for The Buffalo News – drew a photo of Allen literally digging the Patriots’ grave for their 20-year stretch of dominance over the division. Of course, the drawing makes an appropriate mention of “Diggs” – Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who had 11 catches for 147 yards on Saturday.’
Bills clinch AFC East with win over Broncos
‘Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo offense put up a season-high 48 points (with some help from the defense and Jerry Hughes), the most the Bills have scored in a game since 2010, and the defense shut down a young, promising Denver offense that has picked up some steam as the season has gone on.’
Bills rule the AFC East
‘What a great way to wrap up the first non New England east division championship since 2008, with a stress free game. Josh Allen and the Bills passing offense were just too much for a depleted Denver secondary to handle. Allen, who is playing at an MVP level, put on another show with wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley, both of whom topped 100 yards receiving.’
Opinion: Three Observations: It feels great to be AFC East Champions
‘The game was back-and-forth in the first half, despite the Bills being noticeably the better team. A muffed punt by Andre Roberts in the first half gave Denver a chance to get back in the game and hang with the Bills the whole way. But, Buffalo did a good job bouncing back from maybe the only negative play in the entire afternoon, and completely put Denver away in the second half.’
