‘In Beane’s fourth season as general manager, the team went 13-3 in the regular season and is playing in the AFC Championship Game this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. It will be Buffalo’s first appearance in the AFC title game in 27 years.’

‘Rookie wide receiver Gabriel Davis (ankle) and defensive tackle Vernon Butler (quad) were both listed as “did not practice,” while several others were listed with injuries, but practiced in some capacity.’

‘The Bills were the second-best team in the AFC. There’s no question about it. The Chiefs have been, and should still be, considered the best team.’

‘Next Sunday’s game will be a rematch of a Week 6 contest played between the two teams in Orchard Park, in which the Chiefs won, 26-17.’

‘In addition to not letting Baltimore run wild, the Bills defense stiffened when it had to. The Ravens were 0-for-3 in the red zone, 0-for-2 on goal-to-go situations, and 0-for-2 on fourth down. Five of the Ravens’ 10 drives advanced inside the Bills’ 30-yard line, and all they had to show for it was one field goal.’

‘Living far away in pre-internet days, the Bills getting good became a way for me to stay in touch with Buffalo. Eventually, it would become the driving force in leading me home to enroll at Buffalo State to pursue talking on the radio as a career.’

‘Diggs finished tied for a team-lead with eight catches for a game-high 106 yards to go with his touchdown reception. Fellow receiver John Brown also caught eight passes for 62 yards. Singletary, finished third on the Bills in catches, finishing with three. The running back also led Buffalo with 25 rushing yards on seven carries.’

‘Daboll, who also interviewed for the Jets’ job before they settled on former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, has ties to Chargers general manager Tom Telesco. Daboll and Telesco were former classmates at Saint Francis High School in suburban Buffalo.’

‘I absolutely have to start with Johnson because he made what will go down as one of the biggest plays in franchise history when he intercepted Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and returned it 101 yards for a touchdown, putting the Bills up 17-3. Prior to that play, the Ravens were knocking on the door of the Bills end zone and looking to tie the game at 10. So it was at least a 10-point swing, and possibly 14 point swing. On top of that play, however, Johnson was terrific all night long. He finished with six tackles, one for a loss, a pass breakup, and the pick-six.’

‘The Ravens are the most blitz-heavy team in the NFL, sending extra pressure on over 44% of defensive snaps. The Bills have been excellent against the blitz this season. Josh Allen specifically has been terrific against it. The Ravens will have to make a decision. Do they continue to do what they usually do and bring a lot of pressure? Or do they elect to drop more players in coverage and blitz less, possibly giving Allen more time? If they bring the heat, Allen and the Bills offense needs to continue to beat it the way they have been all season, or things will get tough, quickly.’

‘For the Bills, defensive end Darryl Johnson carries a “questionable” game designation with a knee injury. Johnson did not practice all week. All other players on the Bills’ 53-man roster are available to play.’
