‘Keon Coleman dropped a ball early into team drills but recovered. Coleman leaped and came down with a catch against starting cornerback Christian Benford. Coleman followed it up with two more grabs over Dane Jackson.’

‘During their time at St. Thomas, Rochester native Dave Billitier – who has been a volunteer coach there for close to two decades – knew they were going to join the long list of players the school has sent to the NFL. But the fact that Palmer, Moore and Bosa are all going through their first training camp in Billitier’s hometown at St. John Fisher University feels like a full circle moment for him.’

‘“I don’t really blink when we have injuries and I try to have our guys not blink,” said Brady, whose unit has been shorthanded the last few days with several wide receivers and tight ends sidelined. “As long as we have 11 guys out there, we’re gonna be fine. Look, it’s as tough as it gets right now for wideouts. We’re down, it’s the reality of it. But for some of the guys, if I told them before camp, ‘Hey, you’re gonna have to get twice as many reps as you normally would’ they’d be okay with it and they’d be like, ‘Heck yeah.’ And so I’m excited to see some of these guys kind of roll today.”’

‘Six Bills wide receivers were out or limited Tuesday: Elijah Moore, Curtis Samuel, Tyrell Shavers, KJ Hamler, Kaden Prather and Laviska Shenault. That opened the door for receivers like Gosnell, a 6-foot-1, 198-pound grinder who can play every receiver spot and has earned praise for his blocking, to step into the spotlight.’

‘Among the group are eight key contributors as either starters or high-rep reserves.’

‘“I want to see nasty, physical football, but I don’t want to see a disrespect for a man’s career and dirty football,” McDermott said. “That’s not how we play in Buffalo. So we painted a pretty clear picture this morning of what that looks like for the new players in particular. So that nastiness has to be developed here, but it can’t be at the expense of someone’s career. So clean, but physical.”’

‘Injuries have really taken a toll as Moore, Samuel, Shavers and Prather are currently out, though Shenault just returned Monday and practiced for the first time. Coleman’s inconsistency remains an issue, but there has been much more good than bad which is a good sign.’

‘“It’s always hard,” he said of the process of sifting through the number of players who are taking reps so far at St. John Fisher University. “I think as a special teams coach, you’re reading the tea leaves. Our goal is I want them to make our team. If they don’t make our team, I want them to make somebody else’s team, and that’s what we’re working towards. So for me, it’s coaching the player, let’s just get him better and then his tape will tell us whether or not he’s on our team.”’
