'"I'm back," Taylor said. "Offensively we had a great practice. I feel good. Back in game week. My focus is on whatever we've got to do to go out and play at a high level and take care of business Sunday, but I'm glad to be back on the field."'

'"We expect him to start on Sunday," Bills coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday morning.'

'Due to the lack of offensive weapons on both sides, this game looks to be a low-scoring affair.'

'"Go out and do his job. … Be 1/11th of the offense. That's what I expect him to do," McDermott said, when asked what his expectations of Taylor would be for Sunday's game. "That's what I expect of myself, that's what I expect of every player: Do your job."'

'"The workload, whatever it takes to win the game," McDermott said. "That's how we play the game. We play to win, and whatever it takes to win the game, that's what we're going to do. If it means he's got to play every snap, that's what we'll do if he's feeling good, like it is for every player. I'll look him in the eye, say, 'How do you feel? Feel good? OK, let's go.' No different with LeSean."'

'“First of all, when you get cleared from the concussion protocol, that’s the first step,” he said. “An indication to me of where he is from a medical standpoint. Then it’s the dialogue, ‘hey, you feeling good?,’ from a human standpoint, that interaction. And then as a player you go out and watch him execute. Certainly we’ll continue to do that and to this point (Taylor's) done a good job with that."'

'Guys that are around me on a daily basis know what our goals are. I don’t think, for those that have been around me, around us, around how we do things, that there’s any question about what our goals are and our approach is on a daily basis.”'

'Williams is the longest-tenured player on the roster going into his twelfth year with the team. Alexander is going into his eleventh season in the NFL and second with the Bills. They are the oldest players on the roster at 34 (Richie Incognito is also 34, one month younger than Williams, who is one month younger than Alexander).'

'This is the best thing for all parties, even though that there was a contingent of the fan base that was hoping to see Nathan Peterman play. The Bills want to see if Tyrod Taylor can be the leader of the team and the franchise quarterback moving forward.'

'Now, I don’t know about you, but that reads like a head coach that knows what they have in McCoy — and more importantly — knows what’s behind McCoy, too. I think McCoy is poised to have a huge workload going into the season both on the ground and through the air. He’s as explosive a runner as you’ll find in the NFL, but now, the worry will be keeping him fresh and healthy through the entirety of the season with as big of a workload as he’ll have. It will be a delicate balancing act for Sean McDermott and company.'

'Taylor is serving as a team captain, along with DT Kyle Williams, LB Lorenzo Alexander, C Eric Wood and K Steven Hauschka.'

'"A team that plays hard. A team that plays fundamentally sound. A team that plays as a team and plays together. That's a team a fan base can get behind," McDermott said. "(The fans) are invested in this football team and we're invested in them. Our players' love for each other has to show up on the football field. That's what connects (with the fans)."'

'“I’m glad to be back on the field. Even though it was a couple of days being off you take that away from a guy where it’s what he does for a living it’s definitely tough watching your guys go out there and you can’t participate. And having fun with those guys.”'

'“Yes, he has been cleared from the concussion protocol and we do expect him to start on Sunday,” McDermott said. “As a player you go out and watch him execute. We’ll continue to do that and to this point he’s done a good job with that.”'

'McDermott and the Bills made it through four preseason games without any “mechanical” issues concerning game management. They worked through replay challenges, time outs, clock management, and other issues seamlessly with what appeared to be an orderly approach. There were no penalties for too many men on the field, and no instances where they had less than 11. It’s not advanced coaching strategy, but it’s encouraging.'
