Two Bills Drive

'McDermott: “There was some really good fundamentals yesterday, and you’ve heard me talk at length about fundamentals. We’re big believers, philosophically, in fundamentals and the tackling did show up on the defensive side and special teams. I thought the blocking, our offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage, and I thought we caught the ball, for the most part, well.”'

'"He's capable of rushing the passer," Frazier said. "We just felt like yesterday Ryan Davis was better suited for what they were doing with their guards. There may times down the line where Marcell may find himself in that role as well. For now, at least for yesterday, it was more about Ryan in those situations. Not that we don't think Marcell can be effective in those situations."'

'"We knew going into this game the backers were something that we had to take advantage of match-up wise," Taylor said. "We didn't think that those guys could stop Shady and Charles coming out of the backfield and as well just working them into the middle of the field. Those outside targets will definitely come but it is a game of match-ups, and each game is going to be different. We have to be able to take advantage of those match ups."'

'Safety Jordan Poyer was the only Bills player to record a sack on Sunday. The Jets' game plan seemed to be focused on having Josh McCown get the ball out quickly on three step drops, but the Bills need to find a way to generate more pressure from their front four going forward.'

'“The combination of LeSean and Mike, I think that was a healthy rep-swing,” Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott said. “Mike would come in and compliment LeSean’s style, so that was a good combination in there working for us. I was happy with the way both of those players played.”'

'In the end the Bills did the only thing they could do in the opener. They won. Drawing conclusions after one of sixteen games is always dangerous. This time, it's even riskier because of the quality of the opponent. So if you want to to have your fun posting pictures of the standings on your social media pages, knock yourself out. Really, I'm not going to be a jerk to you about it. Being a Bills fans mostly means enjoying the good times when they come so have at it. I'll just be over in the corner waiting for New England to regain their typical form and bracing for the games the Bills will play against teams that haven't destroyed themselves.'
