Two Bills Drive

'Yes, Sean McDermott said he thinks the Bills' No. 2 wide receiver is on the roster, but there's no question Boldin, even at his age, would be a significant upgrade over either Andre Holmes, Philly Brown or any other receiver the Bills have. Boldin took a step back in 2016 and still finished with 67 catches and eight touchdowns. That would have been a career year for any Bills receiver not named Watkins.'

'In two years with the Soul (2015-16), Metz racked up 29.5 total tackles and 7.5 sacks. His swarming style also resulted in three pass break-ups and a pair of forced fumbles.'

'The Bills also signed linebackers Jacob Lindsey, Junior Sylvestre and Eddie Yarbrough, defensive end Jake Metz and defensive back Bradley Sylve. Buffalo also addressed its offensive line depth by signing Cameron Jefferson and Jordan Mudge.'

'Among the newest Bills is former Alabama cornerback Bradley Slve. He was a draft prospect for the 2016 NFL Draft, but went undrafted and did not play at all last season due to a torn achilles sustained at his pro day.'

'Now, even though that you've heard of him and remember him starting in Houston all those years ago, that doesn't necessarily owe him any sort of extended opportunity as a backup in Buffalo. If they were to sign him, it would likely be to compete with Cardale Jones to be the backup quarterback in Buffalo.'

'Yates, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Houston Texans (2011) and played his first three NFL seasons there. After spending the 2014 season with Atlanta he re-signed with the Texans in 2015 before playing last season with Miami.'

'The Buffalo Bills today announced that the team has signed the following eight players: CB Marcus Cromartie, T Cameron Jefferson, LB Jacob Lindsey, DE Jake Metz, OL Jordan Mudge, DB Bradley Sylve, LB Junior Sylvestre, and LB Eddie Yarbrough.'

'DiMarco remembers as a young teenager rooting on his uncle at the Masters, especially when he was in contention for a green jacket entering the final round in 2004 and 2005. Unfortunately for DiMarco each time he was matched up against two giants in the game.'

'Durant, 31, is a 10-year veteran who has played for four different teams, most recently the Dallas Cowboys. It his second stint with the team, Durant appeared in 13 games, making 37 tackles, one sack and three passes defensed. His best season came in 2012 with Detroit, when he started 14 games and made 103 tackles.'

'"Having a weapon that's not only a receiving entity but a heck of an inline blocker – we haven't seen tight ends over the last few years with this type of multi-dimensional talent," he said. "You saw these tight ends in the '70s, '80s and '90s. Now you have kind of the glorified wide receivers who can't block. He is an extension of your line. He will help your running game. So I think a tight end that can block inline is a rarity these days."'

'The website Pro Football Focus named Thompson college football's "best coverage defender," pointing out his seven picks tied for most among safeties. Additionally, quarterbacks had a passer rating of just 22.3 when throwing to receivers Thompson was responsible for covering, charging him with just one touchdown allowed all season.'

'"Peterman's experience in a pro-style passing attack gives him a head start headed into the league. His physical attributes are just average, but his accuracy, composure and anticipation are what sets him apart from some of the more physically gifted quarterbacks in this year's draft. Peterman's tape is sure to catch the eye of at least a few teams in need of a quarterback and he should come off the board by day two with a chance to become a solid starting quarterback in the future."'

'Durant, 31, played for the Cowboys in 2016. He did not start for the Cowboys, but appeared in 13 games playing a total of 279 snaps. Durant recorded 37 total tackles, one sack and three passes defensed for Dallas. The linebacker considered retirement before playing for Dallas in 2016.'

'Williams is viewed as a day three prospect in the 2017 NFL draft. NFL.com's draft page notes that Williams plays bigger than his height (6'1"), shows physicality and does a good job of using his body as a shield on contested passes. Despite these strengths, Williams is viewed as a developmental wide receiver.'
