‘In the Bills’ 24-16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, Oliver was a difference-maker. He finished with a tackle and three quarterback hits.’

Bills game balls: Ty Johnson makes immediate impact in return from injury
‘Labeled by Allen as the best third-down back in the NFL, Johnson’s season debut Sunday was a reminder why he’s an important part of the offense. Johnson’s second of two straight catches on the Bills’ fifth drive went for a 16-yard gain.’
Report Card: No style points were awarded, but Bills find a way to stay unbeaten
‘Allen finished just 16 of 26 for 204 yards, zero touchdown passes and two interceptions – a quarterback rating of just 54.0.’
5 things stood out as Bills got lucky against desperate Chargers team
‘Against a Chargers defense that came into the game No. 1 in yards allowed per rushing play at 2.7 with only three runs of 10 yards or more, Cook shredded them for 154 yards on 24 carries, a 6.4 average that included gains of 23, 15 and 15 yards.’
Bills report card: James Cook shines, defense bails out struggling Josh Allen
‘We don’t see Josh Allen struggle like this too often. There were times throughout the day where he looked completely flummoxed by what the Chargers were doing, both in their pressure packages and coverage schemes. He made some uncharacteristically poor decisions with the ball, and he lost a fumble and threw two interceptions.’
Joe Brady says ‘the house was on fire,’ takes blame for Bills’ 5 turnovers
‘“You turn the ball over five times in a game, you’re not going to win many games,” Brady said. “That’s unacceptable. That’s purely a reflection of me.”’
Bills survive turnover disaster as C.J. Gardner-Johnson makes huge play vs. Chargers
‘In a game littered with turnovers, Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson saved the day early in the fourth quarter of a 24-16 win against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.’
‘The house was on fire’: Joe Brady explains why Bills’ 5-turnover win was ‘perfect’
‘“The house was on fire today,” Brady said. “That’s unacceptable. That’s purely a reflection of me. You turn the ball over five times in a game, you’re not going to win many games.”’
Buffalo Bills are 3-0 after ugly win over Chargers. Here’s what’s encouraging and worrying
‘After two excellent performances to start the season, Buffalo’s offensive line struggled against the Chargers. The Bills’ offensive line was pushed back throughout the game and the unit allowed Josh Allen to be sacked and hit multiple times. In addition to their struggles against the Chargers’ defense, the unit was also penalized multiple times in the win.’
Bills survive sloppy effort, defeat Chargers to move to 3-0
‘Not many teams can win games while turning it over five times, so the Bills deserve some credit for doing so. That said, the good teams in the NFL will punish you most weeks for the mistakes Buffalo made on Sunday. Cook, in particular, has been careless with the football recently, with eight fumbles in his last 14 games (including the playoffs).’
After shaky first two weeks, Bills defense bails out turnover-happy offense to fend off Chargers
‘“Thank God our defense showed up today,” Bills center Connor McGovern said. “They had our back all night, no matter what position we put them in. … They kept us in it the entire game, until the second half, we finally found our footing.”’
Sabato: Bills flex their muscles by overcoming five-turnover game for first time since 1997
‘There are wins, games teams are lucky to win and games teams win because they are good. Teams that win despite committing five turnovers wins because they are good. The Bills, despite how poorly they played, showed just how good they are.’

Winners and losers as Chargers fall again despite 5 Bills turnovers
‘When the offense faltered early, it was the defense that held it together. The Bills turned the ball over five times on Sunday, but the Chargers converted them to just 10 points, all of which came in the first quarter. Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson made arguably the most pivotal play of the day early in the fourth when – after Allen fumbled to set the Chargers up deep in Bills territory – he read Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert perfectly and stepped in front of a third-down pass intended for Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the red zone and picked it off for Buffalo’s only takeaway.’
Bills QB Josh Allen completes pass to himself in bizarre play
‘But even with the ball back, the Bills still weren’t able to find their footing as the Chargers defense continued to make Josh Allen uncomfortable in the pocket. At one point, Allen’s pass was batted down by a defensive lineman at the line of scrimmage. The pass fell right back into the quarterback’s hands, earning him the rare feat of completing a pass to himself. Allen ran up the field, netting one yard before being brought down by Tuli Tuipulotu.’
