‘Look, I’m all for paying homage to the past, and I applaud the designers attempt to honor Buffalo’s gritty, industrial heritage, which includes the Nickel City designation that became popular between 1913 and 1938 when the U.S. mint issued nickels featuring bison heads. But these new, gray uniforms don’t remind me of that heritage, and neither does the blue helmet with the kinetic red sash that I’m told is supposed to represent a buffalo.’
