A rundown of the Buffalo Bills’ 5 worst contract values for 2026
‘1. Joshua Palmer: His first season in Buffalo was a huge disappointment, mainly due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 6 against Atlanta that pretty much ruined the rest of his season. Palmer finished with just 22 catches for 303 yards and did not record a touchdown after signing a three-year contract worth up to $29 million. Palmer has a cap hit of $11.75 million for the 2026 season, which ranks No. 5 on the team and accounts for 3.9% of the Bills’ spending under the league’s salary cap. The return on investment to this point has not been there. Palmer is likely to get the chance to open the season as the Bills’ No. 3 receiver behind DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir, although to keep that role, he’ll have to hold off Keon Coleman and rookie Skyler Bell.’
Bills built cornerback depth in the draft after learning a hard lesson
‘And if things go as the Bills hope over the next several seasons for Benford and Hairston – obviously no guarantee because both have proved to be injury prone – that first-round cornerback might be nothing more than a sub-package player. That’s not what first-round picks are supposed to be.’
Did the Bills make a mistake not drafting a nose tackle? League trends say no
‘From 2016 to 2025, 55 defensive tackles were selected in the first and second rounds. Only 15 were 320 pounds or more. And only five of those 15 tackles earned a second contract.’
Penn State’s Zane Durant has a new team, playing in a division that is home to AFC champ
‘“I like to get stuff done but that’s a part of the process. I’m just blessed and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”’
We now know why the Bills made 3 NFL Draft trades in the 1st round
‘”The Bills’ three trade-backs from No. 26 to outside of Round 1 were emblematic of a weaker draft as well as modernized thinking,” Fowler writes. “More teams are leaning into the concept of taking more swings and prioritizing the number of picks they make. Many teams we spoke to about the draft considered the late first round similar to the early second round as far as talent. The drop-off was minimal, if nonexistent.”‘
Bills’ Skyler Bell given depth chart update that could impact Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer
‘”Multiple scouts see fourth-round receiver Skyler Bell (UConn) contributing right away,” Fowler writes. “He has polish to his game and tested well predraft. There was an outside chance he would go in the third round but was appropriately picked in the fourth.”‘
Bills sign unique former Eagles Super Bowl champion after NFL Draft
‘“VanSumeren was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and was listed as a linebacker while contributing on special teams. He made the switch back to fullback in 2024, saying, “It really feels natural. It’s something I did growing up,” via the Eagles’ official website.”’
Bills sign fullback Ben VanSumeren
‘The 6’2″, 231-pounder was also a key special teams contributor for the Eagles during his first two seasons. He suffered a season-ending knee injury on the very first kickoff of the 2025 season.’
Capaccio: 2026 State of the Bills: Running back and fullback
‘Both Ray Davis and Ty Johnson have been the backups behind Cook for a couple years now. While Johnson saw his total usage in carries and receptions go up, Davis’ touches on offense fell dramatically, but he also found a new role he excelled in, earning First-Team All Pro kick return honors last year.’
‘He’s a home-run hitter’: Inside Buffalo’s newest offensive weapon
‘“There was a practice in his first training camp where he was just making play after play,” Moore recalled. “It gave us confidence that this was the reason we brought him here. He was going to help the passing game.”’
