‘“We do have nose tackles on our roster that honestly fit the prototype that we have,” Brady said at the scouting combine. “But the big thing is that if we can have flexibility across the defensive lines of having guys that can play the nose and play the 4-I, play outside and be able to move inside – like, we want flexibility with what we’re doing, because then it makes it a little tougher on (opposing teams), knowing exactly where our guys are going to be.”’

NFL draft position preview: UB’s Red Murdock a possible gem in deep linebacker class
‘The main question is: Which type of defense will fit him best? Murdock doesn’t have the prototypical size for a linebacker in the 3-4 base defense the Bills will use in 2026, but he can thrive in the scheme if he’s next to a bigger linebacker like Dorian Williams.’
Five WR the Bills could still land if they wait until third round
‘There has been plenty of clamoring for Buffalo to pick a receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft, and Beane certainly might do that, but it feels like addressing the defense is the prudent move.’
Bills in attendance for Jordyn Tyson’s successful workout: What it means for Buffalo
‘“Jordyn Tyson’s a little more difficult because of the durability factor, all the injuries he’s been working through,” Brugler said on the show. “And even into this draft process, it was a hamstring that bothered him throughout the year, and then it kind of spiked a little bit during training. He wasn’t able to work out at the Combine. He’s not gonna work out at the pro day. There’s a hope that he’s gonna run some routes before the draft, but we’ll find out about that as we get closer.”’
Sabato: The Bills may be best suited to trade their No. 1 pick, here’s a mock draft to prove it
‘But Central Florida’s Malachi Lawrence was still on the board. Thirty-eight might be high for Lawrence, but he’s a pure quarterback chaser. Lawrence is 6-foot-4, 253-pounder who ran a 4.52-second 40-yard dash, with a 40-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot, 10-inch broad jump at the NFL scouting combine. He also had the production to match, notching 28 tackles for a loss and 20 sacks in 39 college games. He will have to become a better run defender, but it’s easier to find those players than it is to find pass rushers. Lawrence seems to be worth a chance, even if it’s a slight reach.’
Bills enter NFL Draft week with 7 picks, several needs
‘In the middle, Buffalo lacks a true nose tackle to play in new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard’s defense. Additionally, Buffalo could probably use some help at linebacker and cornerback.’
Sean McDermott opens up about post-Bills life
‘McDermott also reflected on his firing and his time in Buffalo, telling New York Times reporter Mike Jones, “…Sometimes when one door closes, another one opens, also, right?… How many head coaches are able to do it for nine years and really take something, get it turned around, build a culture, break a 17-year playoff drought in the first season, and then go to the playoffs eight out of nine years?”‘
