Analysis: All of a sudden, the AFC playoff field is looking loaded

The Ravens’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread. A Pittsburgh win or a Baltimore loss over the final two weeks will offi cially eliminate the Ravens. Patrick Mahomes, Burrow and Lamar Jackson all missing the playoff s in the same season has led many to conclude that this needs to be the Bills’ year.’

Bills notebook: Brady says Allen’s foot injury will not impact play calling

‘“Yeah, I think day to day, Josh Allen’s going to do everything he can to get his body ready to go,” Brady said Monday. “You don’t start as many games as he has – I think he’s probably in the 130s or something like that – by not taking care of your body. … Every week he’s taking hits, and it’s what makes him him. And so, I know he’ll do whatever he’s got to do to be ready to go.”’

‘Allen was further selected as the AFC’s starting quarterback for the Pro Bowl. He is joined by Drake Maye of the New England Patriots and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, representing quarterbacks for the AFC. The NFC quarterbacks are Sam Darnold (Seattle Seahawks), Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) and Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams).’

Allen narrowly tops QB field in Pro Bowl voting; two other Bills also honored

‘For Allen, it’s his fourth selection, which trails only Jack Kemp (six) and Jim Kelly (five) in franchise history. His 263,127 votes were second in the entire process behind only Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce (420,383). Of course, the mere fact that Kelce led by that much is an indictment on the entire popularity contest voting process. Allen narrowly beat out New England’s Drake Maye (259,978) at quarterback.’

‘For Buffalo, though, there has been no great expulsion of joy and relief. In their 55 years of existence, the Sabres have never won a Stanley Cup and have reached the Final just twice, losing to the Flyers in 1975 and to the Dallas Stars (on Brett Hull’s disputed triple-overtime goal) in 1999. What’s arguably worse, for a city that loves hockey as much or more than any in the United States, is that the Sabres haven’t even qualified for the playoffs since 2011 and haven’t won a postseason series since 2007, when one of their best players was Danny Brière, now the Flyers’ general manager.’

Bills QB Josh Allen feels ready to play despite sore right foot

‘Allen played through the injury after being hurt when he appeared to catch his foot in the turf during a scramble in the final minute of the second quarter. The team announced tests on Allen’s foot taken during halftime were negative, and he finished the game without missing a snap.’
