‘The Bills were flat-out better than the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in the NFL season opener. In front of a SoFi Stadium crowd of 73,846 filled with a sea of red, white and blue Bills Mafia members, the “road” team came out blazing.’

‘“Our front four was just absolutely eating,” safety Jordan Poyer said.’

‘“I wouldn’t say it was a signature win; I would say it was the first game,” said Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who finished with 122 yards on eight catches, including a backbreaking 53-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 31-10 in the fourth quarter. “We could win the first game and then lose every one after that, so we’ll try not to ride this wave.”’

‘The Rams rarely dared to blitz the Bills. But trailing, 17-10, to start the fourth quarter, they took a chance. They rushed five men and left a single safety deep. Allen burned them with a 47-yard pass to Gabe Davis. Davis beat cornerback David Long on a post pattern.’

‘The Bills shot themselves in the foot in the first half, turning the ball over three times on four possessions after opening the game with a scoring drive. Two were interceptions of Allen and the other a fumble by Cook. In the fourth quarter, Zack Moss fumbled for the team’s fourth turnover.’

‘It would have been impossible to script a better start than what new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey had on Thursday. The Bills’ first drive was a thing of beauty. It’s still a small sample size, but Thursday provided plenty of evidence that the Bills are going to be just fine with Dorsey taking over as offensive coordinator. McDermott deserves a lot of credit for having his team so ready to play on the biggest stage the NFL has at this point in the season. Frazier expertly mixed things up against Stafford, confusing the Rams’ veteran quarterback at times – which is not easy to do.’

‘And we should savor every part and play of this special season, because it might very well be historic.’
