Details scarce on funding for a new Bills stadium in state budget

‘The only mention of the new stadium in any bills released so far reaffirmed the state’s intention to proceed with the stadium construction and enter into a 30-year lease commitment between the Erie County Stadium Corp. and the Buffalo Bills.’

Erik Brady: The Bills are here for the long term. Why aren’t we dancing in the streets?

‘As it happens, construction on Rich Stadium began 50 years ago this week — and now construction on this richer stadium is all but assured. Still, we are not two-stepping a Buffalo boogaloo. Maybe this is because we felt our first jolt of hallelujah in 2014, when Terry and Kim Pegula bought the Bills.’

Consumer advocate Ralph Nader rips Hochul on Bills stadium deal, calls it a ‘giveaway’

‘In a public letter to the New York governor Tuesday, Nader argued the new stadium, slated to be built in Orchard Park for $1.4 billion, could be named the “Taxpayer Stadium.”’

Source: Bills hold private workout with trio of Oklahoma Sooners star defenders

‘A source tells Syracuse.com that the Bills worked out defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, EDGE Nik Bonitto and linebacker Brian Asamoah. All three defenders are projected to go on day two of the NFL draft.’

Gov. Hochul went $4 billion over budget to get Bills stadium money, bail reform tweaks

‘Hochul’s demand that taxpayers help fund a $1.4 billion stadium for her hometown team didn’t emerge until early last week, just days before the Thursday deadline to adopt the new state budget.’

The Buffalo Bills’ Stadium Subsidy Is a Hand-Off to Unions

‘But Ms. Hochul has attached conditions to the deal that will drive up the construction cost by roughly 20% and assure that a big chunk of the subsidy will be wasted. That contradicts her claim that she sought to negotiate the “best deal for taxpayers.”’

Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs: ‘I wanted it to be my home’

‘”… And two years (later), now I can smile and say God works in mysterious ways. And I’m with my family, I’m with the right people, and I’ve got the right support system.”‘

Observations: Stefon Diggs’ recruitment of Von Miller predates this offseason

‘“It was crazy because I’ve been working behind the scenes on that for a little while now,” Diggs said. “I was actually working on it before he went to L.A. because I felt like he would have been a nice piece for us to have pushing going into playoffs. I guess Denver was trying to deal him at the time. I was like, ‘He might be that push that we need,’ so I started working on it a little bit lightly, but I still had to focus on the season.”’

Bills’ Jordan Poyer, entering final year of contract, switches agents to Drew Rosenhaus

‘Poyer, who quote-tweeted Rosenhaus’ post with a handshake and fingers crossed, is scheduled to make a base salary of $5.6 million in 2022, along with bonuses and incentives potentially totaling more than $1.5 million. The Bills signed him to a two-year extension worth up $19.5 million with $8.5 million guaranteed at signing in March 2020. Poyer’s original free agent contract with the Bills, signed in 2017, was due to expire after the 2020 season. That deal was for four years and $13 million.

Buffalo is where Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs wants to finish his career

‘“When I first got traded to Buffalo, besides the Mafia and the people who are fans of Buffalo, not too many people thought it was gonna work out,” Diggs said Thursday, shortly after he officially signed a four-year contract extension that is reportedly worth $96 million in new money. “A lot of people were like, ‘Well, the Bills, da da da da da.’ And two years from now, I can smile and say, ‘God works in mysterious ways.’ I’m with my family, I’m with the right people, and I’ve got the right support system.”’

Bills’ Stefon Diggs eager to prove his worth, ‘back chasing again’ after signing new deal

‘Some Bills fans panicked, but Diggs revealed on Thursday – just minutes after the ink dried on his brand new deal that will keep him in Buffalo through 2027 – that his focus never moved away from Buffalo. Even as other receivers cashed in, he remained hopeful for himself and happy for them.’

Buffalo Bills 2022 NFL Draft top-30 visitor tracker: CB Andrew Booth Jr., RB James Cook among recent visits

‘With Tre’Davious White coming off of a serious injury and the team losing Levi Wallace in free agency, the Bills could be in the market for a cornerback early in the draft.’

Receiver Stefon Diggs To Bills Mafia: “I’m Not Leaving.”

‘“To me, my family, my support system, my agent, it was something that we talked about prior to me even coming here. I felt like my next spot was my last spot,” Diggs said. “I wanted it to be my home, and I didn’t want to ever go anywhere. It was important to me, especially the first year and the second year, you just felt like you kind of built in that family. And it’s hard to do that when you have a job and you try to stay professional, but you get those relationships like the one I have with Josh (Allen) and the other guys on the team. It’s just like, all right, it starts feeling a lot like home. You don’t wanna leave it.”’

NFL’s Bills Get $600 Million Stadium Subsidy in New York Budget

‘New York Governor Kathy Hochul reached a deal with Legislative leaders on Thursday to approve a new state budget with $600 million to help build a new Buffalo Bills stadium, despite criticism from elected officials and good government groups who derided it as a taxpayer gift to billionaires with little economic benefit.’

For Stefon Diggs, new deal is all about staying with his Bills family

‘“For me, it was more that family,” Diggs told reporters Thursday just after signing his new four-year contract extension. “That family oriented….from the top to the bottom, Kim and Terry (Pegula), and the coaching staff, how they’re brought up, how we’re developed, how our conversations are and the relationships that I’ve built in such a short span of time.”‘
