Bills GM Brandon Beane goes heavy on defensive line

‘Beane said it was a “tough decision” to cut tight end Jacob Hollister, saying it was a “numbers thing,” with the Bills opting to keep 11 defensive linemen. He said he expects Hollister will sign elsewhere. Beane said Reggie Gilliam’s versatility – he is listed as a fullback but can play tight end – helped make the decision to keep only two on the roster in Dawson Knox and Tommy Sweeney, who is back as a full practice participant Wednesday.’

Lots of good news on injury front for Bills; 15 players signed to practice squad

‘McKenzie’s return is critical because of his role as the primary return man and because his backup on returns, rookie Marquez Stevenson, is out with a foot injury. Stevenson was placed on the injured reserve list – putting him out for at least the first three games. Stevenson returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown against Chicago two weeks ago.’

Alan Pergament: Bills preseason games rating highest on record; WGR extends Bills, Sabres radio rights deals

‘The Bills’ 19-0 victory Saturday over the Green Bay Packers reserves that saw Allen get his first preseason work in the first half had a 25.6 rating and 57 share of the audience on WIVB-TV from 1 to 4 p.m.’

With a championship-level roster in place, Brandon Beane had fewer difficult decisions

‘“I’d say the first two times at this time of the year, we were watching tape all through the night, our scouts were paring it down,” Beane said. “Then the next morning when the coaches got back in, ‘Hey, what would be your preference? We like these guys, this is how we have them stacked, you see it the same?’’

Gabriel Davis, a steal for Bills, carves out important niche in offense

‘“Gabe, he’s one of those guys that’s just learned from guys like Stef (Diggs) and Cole (Beasley) and John Brown,” Allen said. “He just does things the right way. He practices hard, and in the game, just so reliable. You know he’s going to be where he’s supposed to be. He makes plays on offense when he’s asked to make plays.”’

Buffalo Bills announce 2021 practice squad

‘Buffalo is probably not in a major rush to fill their final practice squad spot. The team could eventually bring back a player that they had in camp this season or look at a player outside of the organization.’

AFC Championship Loss Motivates Bills To Build On Last Year

‘“We went from a team that was huge underdogs to people got a target on your back, and that’s just how it works when you win games,” Diggs said. “So as far as us, you welcome the struggle, you welcome the challenge and you look forward to it.”’

Bill-Ief Sky-High In Buffalo With Majority Of Starters Back

‘Expectations: Let’s talk Super Bowl contenders. Expectations remain sky high for a team returning mostly intact a year after winning its first AFC East title since 1995 and enjoying its deepest playoff run in 27 years in losing the AFC championship game to Kansas City. Buffalo returns 10 starters each on offense and defense. The Bills resemble nothing of the pushovers they were during the 17-year playoff drought which preceded the arrival of coach Sean McDermott and GM Brandon Beane in 2017.’

AFC East 2021 NFL Preview: Why Bills remain team to beat for division crown

‘2021 prediction: 13-4, win second straight division title.’

Beane knows expectations will be high this season in Buffalo

‘”No body on the outside is going to put more pressure on ourselves than we do, and we expect a lot out of ourselves,” Beane said. “Sometimes that’s not tallying wins and losses. Sometimes you can be a better team, but the way you dealt with injuries in the season, a tough run of the schedule, whatever it is. Everybody is prognosticating how good teams are going to be, but teams are so different every year. … We might look like a tough matchup for someone in November, but we might not be playing our best football then or we might be dealing with some injuries.”‘

Bills get several players back at Wednesday’s practice

‘Several players who have been dealing with injuries were back on the field in some capacity, including defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, cornerbacks Levi Wallace, Taron Johnson and Dane Jackson, as well as wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie.’

Bills sign 15 players to practice squad

‘All of the players signed had been released by the team on Tuesday as part of their final roster cuts, including tight end Quintin Morris, who may not be that far away from being pressed into duty. The Bills released tight end Jacob Hollister, leaving only Tommy Sweeney on the depth chart behind starter Dawson Knox. Sweeney has been injured and didn’t play in the team’s final two preseason games.’

Audacy announces multi-year radio broadcast contract extension with Bills, Sabres

‘“We’re delighted to extend our partnerships with the Bills and Sabres to continue delivering premier game day and supporting content,” said Senior Vice President and Market Manager of Audacy Buffalo, Tim Holly. “These partnerships will allow WGR 550 to continue to serve as the home for everything fans need to stay up to date surrounding these two iconic franchises, and we look forward to entertaining and informing our listeners through both teams’ seasons.”’

Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane discusses team’s 53-man roster

‘Beane said Ferguson is back on the roster and WR Marquez Stevenson is heading to the IR in a corresponding move. It was believed there may have been a similar corresponding move to bring Hollister back to the team, but Beane said the tight end will not be returning at this time. He expects Hollister will be signed by another team in the next day or so.’

Bills bring back 15 for initial 2021 practice squad

‘All of the NFL’s practice squad rules for 2020 will apply again in 2021. Two practice squad players may be promoted each game week; and the Bills can protect up to four practice squad players per week from being signed by another team.’
