Mix of experience benefitting Bills’ tight-knit quarterback room

‘“We went to dinner last week together as a quarterback room. It’s a good blend. They did a good job bringing in good people that we mesh well together,” said Webb, who joined the Bills in 2019. “We’re all pushing each other. And we’re all in the business of trying to make ourselves the best core we can be and help one another out.”’

Training camp observations: With preseason opener approaching, Bills dial in run game

‘Getting more out of the run game has been a point of emphasis for the Bills in 2021 from the minute last season ended with a loss in the AFC championship game to the Kansas City Chiefs. In the days that followed, head coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane mentioned the team’s need to run the ball more effectively.’

Bills preseason games have new sideline reporter known for analytics

‘“Cynthia is a rising star,” said Mark Preisler, the executive vice president of Pegula Sports and Entertainment. “The goal is to get away from a typical sideline reporter. We want to be progressive and add next gen stats and trends.”’

Mitchell Trubisky trying to reset his career as Josh Allen’s backup in Buffalo

‘“I kind of saw it coming, just the way I was progressing,” Trubisky said Tuesday following practice with his new Buffalo Bills teammates. “Year two was really good and then year three and four, not as good; I was dealing with some injuries and some other things going on there. It was disappointing but it wasn’t a surprise. You can kind of see that they were just continuously believing in me less and less and that’s just kind of how that process went.”’

Thoughts on Bills QB Allen & new stadium

‘To be sure, Allen’s new contract is pricey, but Beane helped construct one that was salary cap-friendly with the bigger hit coming starting in 2023 when the new TV contracts kick in with the NFL receiving more than $110 billion over the next decade and the cap increasing accordingly.’

Bills’ Devin Singletary, Matt Breida break off big runs, defense brings the heat on Day 11 of camp (8 observations)

‘Led by third-year back Devin Singletary, the Bills offense showcased its ability to run the football in several run-heavy 11-on-11 team drills. Bills backup quarterback Jake Fromm, who’s expected to play for the first time in the NFL on Friday when Buffalo opens its preseason schedule on the road against Detroit, said offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has the offense working “a lot more” on the running game the past few days at practice.’

Bills have 9 percent chance of winning Super Bowl, says ESPN’s Football Power Index

‘After inputting the data and running the simulation, the Bills were given a nine percent chance of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Only the Kansas City Chiefs (19%), last year’s AFC Champions, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (15%), the reigning Super Bowl champs, had higher odds than the Bills.’

Football: Anxiety begins with Bills’ lease

‘But these talks are just beginning. Both sides — the Bills and the public sector — are seeking leverage while knowing what’s at stake in the end game.’

NFL players like Cole Beasley look like laughable hypocrites regarding vaccine | Opinion

‘Former SMU star and ex-Dallas Cowboys slot receiver Cole Beasley, now with the Buffalo Bills, has captured the “voice” of the NFL’s truly stupid.’

Bills Activate DE Jerry Hughes; Place LB Lee On COVID List

‘In a separate move, Buffalo placed backup linebacker Marquel Lee on the reserve/COVID list.’

Buffalo Bills’ Mitchell Trubisky says he’s happy to be where he’s wanted

‘”Mitch has been awesome. He’s quickly developed into one of my good friends,” Allen said. “He comes in with a great attitude every day and he’s working his tail off and he’s not afraid to ask questions about the offense. He’s here to help this team win in whatever that way may be. We’re lucky to have him, I’ll tell you that.”‘

Josh Allen’s Contract: Strong for the Player but Also Team-Friendly

‘The first shoe dropped among the trio, with Allen extending his contract with the Bills for six years—past the existing two years—for a total contract value of $258 million over eight years. As readers in this space know, the total value is a fictitious number as, unlike NBA and Major League Baseball deals, NFL contracts are not fully guaranteed. But Allen’s deal appears to be a strong one, with $100 million fully guaranteed at signing—a key metric for these extensions—and a portion of that guarantee extending even into Year 4, another strong feature for Allen. Allen also has another $50 million of “rolling guarantees” that vest easily next year and the year after. It is a strong player deal, but it also has a distinct advantage for the Bills: its length.’

Run game comes alive at Bills camp

‘Running backs Devin Singletary and Matt Breida both broke off long gains during 11-on-11 drills. Although players were wearing full pads, the defense was not live tackling all the way to the ground. Obviously that may have impacted the overall result of the plays, but there were still good holes to run through, and both backs showed great vision.’

Opinion: Great Josh Almighty

‘If the extension wasn’t completed before the season began, I don’t think it would have negatively impacted Allen’s performance, but I think it was better for both parties to get this done and out of the way, as opposed to getting back at it after the season. I guess there would have been a chance Allen would be concerned about contract talks if he was struggling, or perhaps would be worried about an injury before getting the pay day of his lifetime.’

Opinion: The Preseason Plea

‘You wanna see the CB3 battle? Great. You want to know how your special teams unit is working and make sure the gunners are staying in lanes? I’m into it. Otherwise, the preseason is all risk and no reward.’
