Bills’ selection of Spencer Brown ‘just thrilling for everyone’ in his Iowa hometown

‘Brown got the call from One Bills Drive while gathered with family and friends in the two-stall garage of the home of his mother, Liz Jessen, who also happens to be principal of Lenox High School. That was where Brown starred on the eight-man football team before becoming a standout offensive tackle at the University of Northern Iowa.’

Bills await roster clarification from NFL before announcing class of rookie undrafted free agents

‘He also used running back Antonio Williams as an example. Williams was cut before training camp, but the Bills clearly still were interested in his services. He would re-sign and be released several more times before eventually earning a promotion to the 53-man roster in Week 17 against Miami, responding with a pair of touchdowns.’

If it meant getting closer to normalcy, Buffalo Bills GM would cut non-vaccinated players

‘“If you don’t, it’s going to look more like last year. Social distant meetings, encourage meetings to be virtual, mask in the building, maybe even mask on the sideline, who knows. A lot of that is still to be determined. I hope that if those are the rules, that we’ll be able to get enough people vaccinated and not have to deal with all the headaches.”’

Buffalo Bills GM would cut unvaccinated player if it means operating like normal

‘“I think there’s gonna be some incentives to, if you have X number of percent of your players and staff vaccinated, you can live normal. Let’s just call it, back to the old days,” he said. “If you don’t than it’s going to look more like it did last year. Social distant meetings … mask in the building, maybe even mask on the sideline. A lot of that is still to be determined, but I hope if those are the rules we’ll be able to get enough people vaccinated and not have to deal with all the headaches.”’

Bills GM Beane Would Consider Cutting Unvaccinated Player

‘“You guys saw it in the fieldhouse, we had three and four meetings going on, and sometimes you’re talking over each other. But it was the only way to pull it off and be social distant,” he added, referring to NFL protocols limiting the number of players who could meet at one time. “So it would be an advantage to cut a player and fall under that umbrella.”’

Buffalo Bills GM says his priority is to reach any set vaccination threshold

‘”The early indications are that if you’re vaccinated … that you are probably going to have to test once a week,” Beane said. “But if you’re not, then you’d have to test every day like we did last year. Still unsure about the masking, how that would go. I think there’s going to be some incentives to where, if you have X percentage of your players and staff vaccinated, you can live normal, let’s just call it. Back to the old days.’

Beane: ‘I think there’s ways’ we can extend Allen and Edmunds before 2021 season

‘”The math has been very hard here. This new [collective bargaining agreement]; when we took those guys back in ’18, the projected rate [for Allen] was around $18 million and Tremaine around $9 million. Now you’re talking $27 [million], and if we don’t have the pandemic, the cap was supposed to be well into the $200 [million range], probably $215-$220 [million]. You add the CBA change to where that ’18 draft class became the class that it’s based on Pro Bowl and various recognitions that you can increase your numbers. So Tremaine’s number went from $9-something [million] to $12.8 [million], and Josh went from $18 [million] to $23 [million]. That’s a big difference anyway, and then you add the fact that the cap went the other way has made it a tighter constraint.”‘

Beane: ‘I’m in the shopping market’

‘“I’m in the shopping market,” Beane told “One Bills Live” hosts Chris Brown and Steve Tasker on Wednesday on WGR, also acknowledging that there isn’t much salary cap room two play with. “I’ve got a small bank account, though. I’m not at the Mercedes-Benz dealership.”’

Bills GM Brandon Beane would theoretically consider cutting unvaccinated player

‘”Yea, I would because it’d be an advantage,” Beane said when asked about hypothetically cutting an unvaccinated player if it came down to one final spot between strict and “normal” restrictions. “We’re laughing but these meetings [last season] were not as productive as before. Sometimes we’d have three to four meetings going on, and sometimes you’re talking over each other but it was the only way to pull it off and be socially distant. It would be an advantage to cut a player and fall under that umbrella.”‘

NY Sen. Sean Ryan excited at the prospect of a full house of Bills fans at Highmark Stadium

‘“For the hardworking Bills fans, who work all week to get tickets in the upper deck, to add $60 for every game you go to, that’s just too much when you can get a vaccination for a big fat zero. And you’ll have a full stadium and give high fives to the people next to you, this 1/3 thing with everyone spread out. That’s not a Bills game in my opinion,” said Senator Ryan.’

Buffalo Bills hosting national anthem auditions for 2021 season

‘A select group of finalists will be invited to audition live at Highmark Stadium in June. Only those invited to the live auditions will be eligible to sing at the Bills games this season. However, the Buffalo Bills note that it is not mandatory for out-of-town finalists to attend the live auditions.’

Bills Beane would cut an unvaccinated player if it helps team

‘Beane was referring to NFL protocols that are expected to be in place that would allow a team to operate with more freedom if a certain percentage of players had gotten the Covid-19 vaccine. Host and former Bills player Steve Tasker followed with a hypothetical question as to whether cutting a single player to get within the league mandate would be an option and Beane said “Yeah, I would because it’d be an advantage. The meetings were not as productive as before because you guys saw in the fieldhouse and we had three and four meetings going on. And sometimes you’re talking over each other, but it was the only way to pull it off and be socially distanced. It would be an advantage to cut a player and fall under that umbrella.”’

‘Shut my mouth and earn respect’ | Bills rookies shift focus to making the 53-man roster

‘”Now everybody’s a super-talented player, but what are you going to do to separate yourself on the field by knowing the playbook inside and out, knowing the schemes and knowing how the guys next to you play so you can learn how to play with them and play well?” he said.’
