Bills find great value & fill position of need with A.J. Epenesa pick

‘Epenesa’s hand-work and strength off the edge are two of the traits most often pointed to when discussing the 21-year-old defensive end. If you search his name on social media, you’ll find countless videos showing Epensa “swiping” his way by opposing tackles before swallowing up the seemingly helpless quarterbacks. His size and strength are the first two things you notice when watching his highlights. But some think his speed will limit his success at the next level.’

Bills add a running back, select Zack Moss with the 86th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft

‘After a solid year from last year’s rookie, Devin Singletary, the Bills are adding another young guy to help the their backfield. Last season with the Utes, Moss finished with 235 rushes for 1,416 yards and 15 touchdowns. He finished his career with 4,067 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns, becoming the first Utah player with three 1,000-yard rushing seasons.’

“So far, I’m happy with what we got”; Bills GM Brandon Beane reacts to Friday night’s Draft picks

‘”There were guys on both sides of the ball that were in the mix including Epenesa. We never tried to trade up in the 2nd round. We liked who was on the board and we had good grades,” Beane said. “Epenesa, you’ve seen his production. I don’t know why he fell, but I’m looking for football players and he’s a damn good football player.”‘

Bills select Iowa DE A.J. Epenesa 54th overall

‘The Bills addressed the position in free agency when they signed Mario Addison but this seems more like a short term fix instead of a long term solution. Going with an edge rusher with their first pick makes sense considering they lost Shaq Lawson in free agency and given the age and even health concerns with Jerry Hughes and Trent Murphy.’

Bills draft Utah RB Zack Moss 86th overall in third round

‘Coming into the draft, the Bills didn’t really have any glaring holes or needs that had to fill considering Brandon Beane addressed many positions in free agency and the offseason. But this was an area they certainly needed help in because after Singletary, they only had T.J. Yeldon and Christian Wade on the practice squad. Taiwan Jones was brought in primary for help on special teams.’

Bills take Iowa defensive end A.J. Epenesa with 2nd-round pick

‘At 6 feet, 5 inches and 280 pounds, he has the ideal size to play defensive end in the Bills’ 4-3 scheme.’

Bills take Utah running back Zack Moss in 3rd round

‘Moss averaged nearly 100 rushing yards per game his senior season. He had 15 touchdowns.’

Bills Beane happy after two Friday draft picks

‘No doubt Beane felt better after taking Iowa defensive end A.J. Epenensa with the Bills first pick of the night. Many had Epenensa going higher but Beane was certainly glad he fell to the Bills with the 54th overall pick. Under Beane and head coach Sean McDermott the Bills are big on having players able to play multiple positions. “I really like his versatility. I see him as a left defensive end and then sometimes as a sub rusher. He’s just a good football player.”‘

Bills draft Iowa DE AJ Epenesa in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft

‘Epenesa was projected to be a first-round pick in many mock drafts. At 6’5″, 275 pounds, his 5.04 40-yard dash time could have contributed to his fall.’

Bills take Utah RB Zack Moss in 3rd round of the NFL Draft

‘Moss was a target for Brandon Beane throughout the draft, with the Bills GM telling the Western New York media that he considered trading up for him. However, no team wanted to trade down and Moss still fell to him at the 86th-pick.’

Bills draft A.J. Epenesa in second round

‘Many believed that Brandon Beane would have to trade up to get Epenesa, but Beane was patient and was rewarded.’

AJ Epenesa and Josh Allen met… three years ago.

‘The Hawkeye defense dominated that Saturday. Allen went 23 of 40 for 174 yards through the air with no touchdowns and zero interceptions.’

Get to know the newest Buffalo Bill in A.J. Epenesa

‘Epenesa is a blend of size and production and was dynamic in his last two seasons at Iowa.’

Bills add RB Zack Moss in Round Three of Draft

‘Moss was ranked as one of the nation’s top rushers with 235 carries, nearly 1500 yards and 15 TD’s in 2019. But what makes Moss so dynamic is his pass-catching ability, last season he had 28 catches for 388 yards and two touchdowns.’

Beane: Nobody thinks Buffalo is sexy

‘”He’s not going to win the sexy appeal — but we’re Buffalo and nobody thinks there’s anything sexy about Buffalo,” joked Beane.’
