McDermott: Peterman “has certainly earned the right” to be the starting QB

‘The trade of McCarron, coupled with the Bills not adding another QB over the weekend, leaves the team with only two signal-callers for the time being. McDermott said that in addition to Allen being the No. 2 QB he will also run the team’s scout-team offense during the week against the team’s starting defense. He also mentioned Logan Thomas as a potential emergency QB if the need arises. Thomas played quarterback at Virginia Tech and briefly in the NFL before converting to tight end.’

Nathan Peterman named starter against Baltimore Ravens

‘In four games last year, Peterman threw for 252 yards, two touchdowns five interceptions.’

Joe B: Nathan Peterman gets the start, but the Buffalo Bills left the Josh Allen door wide open

‘Yeah, I regret to inform you that this is just the start of a carousel of queries. And the Bills have to be ready for it all because now the clock has officially started.’

Peterman wins the QB battle

‘”He has certainly come through sometimes of adversity throughout his career. Look, he’s still a young player, so I’ve been impressed with his mental toughness, his command of the offense, the way he’s generated yards and points in the preseason.”‘

McDermott talks about his starting quarterback

‘McDermott had high praise for Peterman’s resiliency saying, “he’s certainly come through some times of adversity throughout his career, he’s still a young player, I’ve been impressed with his mental toughness, his command of the offense, the way he has generated yards and then points in the preseason and the way he has developed to this point.”‘

Sean McDermott’s: 4 notable quotes

‘Well, it’s always a tough decision, and that’s a good thing because [it means that] those guys were competing at a high level. I would say that we’ve had a lot of tough decisions, which is a good thing for our roster. Again, credit our scouting staff, Brandon [Beane] and his staff for making, certainly, our roster better than it has been in terms of the competition level through camp, and you guys were out there. There was high levels of competition at many levels.’

Bills name Nathan Peterman the starter

‘”When you have obstacles, hard things in your life, that doesn’t mean you should quit. Maybe that’s the way some people think, but that’s not the way I think. For me, it just amps me up even more,” said Peterman.’

Bills locker room reacts to Peterman being named starter

‘”Knowing how we’re going into the game with no questions. No distractions. It feels good,” added Groy.’

How Nate Peterman earned the starting QB job

‘And when it came to consistency, day in and day out, no one embodied that more Nate Peterman.’

Peterman thankful, excited to have starting job

‘“It was a goal accomplished for sure. I definitely set some high goals this year,” Peterman said. “This was one of them and I want to keep accomplishing those. Obviously, I’m excited. I’m very thankful. It’s a great opportunity. I definitely worked really hard to try to get myself in this position. I think all the work is still in front of me.”’

Quick Hits: Ryan Groy named starting center by McDermott

‘In preseason action, Groy saw time at center, left guard and right guard and McDermott said that the decision to move him around was based mostly around Groy’s versatility. He also stated that the Groy was unlikely to see any time at guard barring an injury to either of the Bills’ starters at those positions.’

Bills add OL and DT to practice squad

‘Thomas, 27, was most recently with the New York Giants where he appeared in 23 games over the last two seasons. He was released during final cuts over the weekend.’

Bills Today: Bills hold stockpile of 2019 draft picks

‘The Bills have 10 draft picks slated for the 2019 draft, and the team kept all but one of their 2018 draft picks on the final roster following cut day on Saturday. The only member of the 2018 class who did not make the cut was seventh-round wide receiver Austin Proehl. For the 2019 NFL draft, the Bills still own the rights to their own picks in rounds one through seven, and they currently hold three additional picks.’
