He’s invested in himself and worked with some guys outside of the building which has been good. Guys meaning some of those quarterback type guys out there. I’m anxious to see the jump that he’ll make in his ‘sophomore season.’ Then you look at AJ and what he’s able to do. He’s a guy that we looked at every single throw in his NFL career. You look at his resume in college and in the pros. Had a chance to win a big-time playoff game in Cincinnati against a good defense there. We’re just anxious to get in there and get started. ‘“Well, the most impressive thing that we’ve accomplish is that [Beane] and coach [McDermott] are joined at the hip, and at the head. They think alike. They’re both very throughout people. They can make very instantaneous decisions like a coach has to during a game, but they also think stuff out to the point where you say, ‘Wow, these guys are very throughout.’ You would think a football coach wouldn’t think like that because things are instantaneous throughout a game, but he’s a very deep thinker and goes through, as you guys would call, the process,” Pegula added.’

‘“Well this is the time of the year, this window of time, the offseason. You guys heard me say last year in June when we break and we come back to training camp, where things happen. It’s unfortunate. You would like some form of structure, but that’s the rule that are set forth and we abide by those rules. This is the time of year you just need to find a routine and stay disciplined with your routine as these players prepare to come back to their clubs,” McDermott said.’

‘”If it makes us a lot better or if it’s a player that’s worthy of that, yes,” Beane said about trading up again. “We’ll do anything we can to make our roster better, and I’m not locked in that I would or I wouldn’t. It would have to make sense and have to be a player that we really felt strongly about to do it.”‘

Bills still looking to address void at middle linebacker

‘“Well there’s a lot of areas,” he said while meeting with reporters here at the annual league meetings. “You know, there’s a lot of talk about our middle linebacker position and that’s a situation that we’re going to continue to evaluate moving forward. (General manager) Brandon Beane and his staff do a phenomenal job of knowing what’s out there and identifying opportunities for us to improve our roster.”’

It takes advantage of matchups and so that was attractive to me as I evaluated that situation. We’re going to try to use our strengths and put the players in position to be successful.”’
